Chapter Index

Du Qiu hurried back home but could not completely disregard traffic lights and speed limits like they do in TV shows and movies.

Being an average citizen, if he were to speed home that would surely not just be a matter of fines or demerit points – he’d undoubtedly end up in the police station.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have called Su Jianming from the Criminal Police Brigade.

Fortunately, the door lock of his house had been specially modified by him; if this petty thief tried any master keys, they definitely wouldn’t work.

Judging from the alert sound, the thief probably hadn’t managed to open the front door yet.

Just having experienced an exhilarating sensation, Du Qiu instinctively felt that the thief was targeting the crystal pillow.

At this moment, Du Qiu regretted why he hadn’t unpacked the parcel from his father right away to start using the crystal pillow.

Had he done so, by now he might have already achieved something.

Lost in his wild thoughts, Du Qiu arrived at the entrance of his apartment building.

Then he got out of his car, looking dumbfounded.

Two policemen and two security guards were all looking at him with displeasure.

Oh, the displeasure on the policemen’s faces wasn’t obvious, but it was somewhat indignant on the faces of the security guards.

“Hello, Dr. Du, I am Li Ka-peng. After receiving a report from Captain Su, I arrived here ten minutes ago and met with two security guards from the community. We went upstairs to inspect and found that your home has not been burglarized,” one of the policemen said.

“Dr. Du, the security in our community is very good. Your report of a burglary should have a basis,” a senior security guard commented.

Du Qiu checked his phone; the alarm signal was still active, clearly indicating that someone was still tampering with the alarm system.

“Officer Li, everyone, I’m sorry. Let me go up and have a look,” Du Qiu apologized.

The four followed Du Qiu upstairs.

Du Qiu’s home was on the sixth floor of a fifteen-story building, with two apartments per floor in this unit.

Reaching his doorstep, there indeed was no one around.

Du Qiu moved forward to check his alarm device and quickly pulled out a small card from the slit of the door lock.

Upon seeing it, Du Qiu was furious.

It was a card with a picture of a beautiful woman.

Li Ka-peng took the card from Du Qiu’s hand; the younger security guard already had a laugh.

“The distributors of such advertisements in your community should also be stopped. Harassing residents like this and causing police incidents are not good,” Li Ka-peng said to the senior security guard.

The senior security guard nodded, “Yes, yes, we will definitely strictly control the entry of such individuals in the future.”

After Du Qiu sent these people away, he opened the door to his house.

At that moment, there were footsteps in the stairwell.

Du Qiu was surprised; there were still people who chose to take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Judging by the sound of the footsteps, it seemed to be a woman.

Du Qiu was about to enter when he saw a woman coming down the stairs at a leisurely pace.

The woman wore a long-sleeved tight T-shirt and a pair of jeans. Although she wasn’t tall, she had a curvaceous body, with a bust size well above average.

When the woman saw Du Qiu, she smiled seductively.

Out of politeness, Du Qiu returned the smile and asked, “Why didn’t you take the elevator?”

    “I’m exercising,” she responded.

Du Qiu nodded, turned to enter his house, and at that moment, a gust of wind came from behind.

Du Qiu reacted astonishingly, ducking swiftly just in time to see the woman’s right leg sweep over his head and slam into the doorframe.

There was a loud “clang,” thank goodness the doorframe was made of iron; if it had been made of wood, he suspected it could have been kicked to pieces.

What a vicious kick that was!

Du Qiu, a tall figure, had turned his body to the side as he ducked.

As he punched toward the woman while standing up, she stepped back, her face displaying a hint of surprise, but her attacks did not cease.

The next moment, the woman suddenly backed away, causing Du Qiu’s strike to miss.

She retreated only a short distance before letting out a loud yell, her body shot up, and her legs kicked in succession towards Du Qiu’s head.

Evidently, the woman aimed to knock Du Qiu down in one blow since the policemen and security guards had not gone far.

A ferocious look flashed across her eyes; it was as if Du Qiu could not escape her series of kicks.

Du Qiu dodged to the side and tilted his head as his right fist shot out rapidly, striking out twice.

His first punch hit the woman’s leading leg and the following punch landed precisely on her other leg.

With his right fist constantly striking, Du Qiu moved swiftly, pushing closer to the woman and grabbing the leg that he had punched with his left hand.

With a strong swing, he smashed the woman’s body against the nearby wall.

The woman grunted as her back leg kicked towards Du Qiu’s head.

Du Qiu, quick with his hands, struck again with his right fist, hitting precisely below her kicking foot.

“Aah!” the woman screamed in pain with a coarse voice, as if cursing in some language that Du Qiu did not understand.

Now’s the time to capitalize on your opponent’s weakness!

Ever since Du Qiu had started learning free combat from several masters, they had instilled in him that when facing an enemy, one must never be merciful, and that eradicating evil was the only rule.

He would not beat this woman to death, but knocking her out or fully subduing her was a must, especially because she still tried to counterattack with a fierce hook to Du Qiu’s head.

Du Qiu parried the attack with one punch, then followed it up with both fists raining down on the woman’s head and body.

In a flash, Du Qiu pounded the woman as if she were a punching bag!

The woman collapsed under this assault, clearly overwhelmed.

Du Qiu backed up a few steps, vigilantly watching the enemy before him.

The woman had quite the resistance; despite Du Qiu’s rapid punches, she still hadn’t passed out.

“What… what kind of boxing is this?” she panted.

“Cut it out, you still have the strength to ask questions. This is Wing Chun, haven’t you seen the movie ‘Ip Man’?” Du Qiu scoffed.

The woman lay on the ground, gasping in what seemed to be too much pain, slowly curling up.

Just as her right leg retracted and her hands began to rise…

A large foot appeared, pinning her right leg down.

“Hey, still trying to play dirty? I noticed the knife on your right leg a while ago,” Du Qiu said with a sneer.

He tugged the pants on her right ankle to reveal a black sheath strapped there.

Bending over, Du Qiu pulled out the dagger.

In that instant, the woman lunged forward with both fists aiming for the temples of Du Qiu’s head.

The flash of the blade was momentary.

“Ah, ah…” the woman cried out in agony and collapsed back to the ground.

Blood spurted from the wrists of both her hands.

“Now both your hand tendons are cut, let’s see how you fight me now?”

As he spoke, Du Qiu tore off the woman’s sleeve, tied up her hands, and also secured the two wounds.

“Huh, how come the skin on your hands is so different from the skin on your arms?”

Observing the stark contrast between two types of skin, Du Qiu quickly peeled off what resembled two ultra-thin human skin gloves from the woman’s hands.

“Wow, really exquisite. Looks like you’re not really a woman,” Du Qiu observed.

Just as Du Qiu was about to remove the woman’s face mask, there was a “ding” sound as the elevator arrived and the doors opened.

Du Qiu quickly pocketed the ultra-thin gloves and looked up, only to freeze in shock.
