Chapter Index

Rein Leinar immediately said, “Mr. Li, you are a true friend of the people of South Sudan! I won’t go on thanking you— from now on, Mr. Li will be the most honored guest in South Sudan!

No, Mr. Li, you are a national hero of South Sudan, and you’ll enjoy the highest hospitality extended by the South Sudanese people!”

“Mr. President, you’re too kind. At this time of adversity for the people of South Sudan, I will do my best to help and get the South Sudanese people through this difficult time.”

After exchanging pleasantries with Rein Leinar, Du Qiu changed the topic and said, “Mr. President, according to my intelligence, there is a possibility that this Ebola outbreak is being manipulated behind the scenes.”

“What?!” Rein Leinar was stunned by this news. Who would engage in such a vile act in South Sudan, a poor country with little strategic value?

It took Rein Leinar some time before he asked, “Mr. Li, is there… evidence for this claim?”

“Not currently, I am looking for traces left by the opponents. I believe that we will be able to bring the perpetrator to light.”

Rein Leinar was relieved when he heard Du Qiu had no evidence because if there was a mastermind behind this, just the thought of it was alarming—having control over the Ebola virus and deploying it publicly indicated a malicious intent. If these actions were exposed, it’s unpredictable what situation could arise.

South Sudan, a poor country, didn’t have the power to clash with such a colossal force.

One careless move could cost him the presidency, and all his efforts would be in vain.

“Mr. Li, I entrust this matter to you completely, hoping that Mr. Li and your country can seek justice for the suffering people of South Sudan.”

Rein Leinar’s words were righteous and solemn, his stance firm and his attitude clear, but he would not be involved until things were clarified.

Du Qiu did not expect any help from Rein Leinar on this matter but informed him to garner some freedom to act.

“Mr. President, since you trust me so much, I naturally can’t let you down. I will dispatch a division of Iron Guard Security personnel from the industrial park. They will conduct an investigation.

I hope you can provide facilities to make it convenient for my people to act.”

Rein Leinar immediately replied, “No problem. I will notify Peck. Iron Guard Security, as a special force specially appointed by the Ministry of Defense, has the right to carry out all counter-terrorism actions within the territory of South Sudan!”

Du Qiu praised how quickly Rein Leinar grasped the situation and immediately said, “That’s right, this is a mad and vicious terrorist attack!

Rest assured, I will find sufficient evidence for you to make a case in the international community!”

Rein Leinar quickly said, “Good, as long as there is solid evidence, I will personally make a trip to the United Nations.”

After ending his call with Rein Leinar, Du Qiu immediately ordered Star Ocean, “Deploy the Iron Guard, change into the uniforms of the South Sudanese government’s army, and turn the areas around Bor and Zhuba for 500 kilometers upside down!”

    “Yes, sir.”

“And scatter some more carbon nanobugs. After activation, search the entire range of South Sudan with all your might. I believe the mastermind is still within the borders of South Sudan.”

“No problem, we will catch them!”

    ++++++++

    Several days later.

    South Sudan, Val.

Located in the central region of South Sudan, close to the oil-producing region, its status is similar to that of the Magic City in the Tang Country.

As a result, it is one of the few bustling places in South Sudan.

Inside a box at a nightclub.

Two Eastern men were in conversation.

“Yamazaki-kun, after we complete this experiment, we should be able to return home, right?”

    “Why, Jiro, are you homesick?”

“Yes, I miss my Rieko, and these black girls just don’t excite me—I haven’t been with anyone for a year…”

“Haha, oh you, the black girls are quite flavorful…” Laughter came out, filled with an unspeakably sleazy tone.

“Yamazaki-kun, once our mission here is finished, we should leave as soon as possible. Otherwise, when the A3 virus outbreak happens, we will not be safe either.”

“What are you afraid of? We’ve already been injected with the antiviral serum.”

“But, when the whole city is down with the illness and only we are well, don’t you think that’s a problem?”

“Yoishi, Jiro, you really are smart. After we’ve had our fun, we’ll leave overnight.”

The man called Yamazaki-kun stood up, opened the door, and yelled, “Where are the girls we called for?”

Shortly after, a black manager brought in a few girls, one of whom wasn’t black but appeared to be Arab.

Jiro, the man, was overjoyed and said, “Yamazaki-kun, this one… is for me.”

The room quickly fell into a wild drinking spree.

The two Japanese men had no idea that everything happening there was being displayed in a base somewhere in the Tanga Federation.

With a slap on the table and his face livid with rage, Du Qiu bellowed, “It’s the Japanese!

Star Ocean, have these two been identified? Are they affiliated with an official organization or a corporation?”

Star Ocean’s voice immediately responded, “It’s been determined. The two men are employees of an institution named ‘Heiying Pharmaceutical Research Institute’ which has a branch in Kenya in Africa.

The shareholding structure of ‘Heiying Pharmaceutical Research Institute’ is also quite complicated; after big data analysis, it’s confirmed to be controlled by ‘Buan Biology.’

‘Buan Biology’ is a joint venture between Japan’s largest pharmaceutical company ‘Buden Pharmaceutical’ and another major company ‘Antei Health.’

Buden Pharmaceutical is the major shareholder, Antei Health the second, and the third is Dazong Pharmaceutical, along with some other biological research institutions.”

Du Qiu pondered, “So Buan Biology is jointly owned by several major Japanese pharmaceutical companies. It’s surprising how united Japanese corporations are.

Does Heiying Pharmaceutical Research Institute research the Ebola virus, or is it antibodies?”

Star Ocean replied, “Sir, the initial data shows that the Heiying Pharmaceutical Research Institute is mainly involved in drug research for human potential stimulation.

The branch in Kenya does indeed research the Ebola virus and other extremely dangerous viruses.”

“No wonder they set up a branch in Kenya. If those dangerous viruses cause any trouble, it wouldn’t harm the Japanese.”

“Sir, should we notify the Iron Guard to capture these two immediately?”

“Do they still have virus samples on them? If they have no evidence on them, just this conversation alone can’t make a solid case,” asked Du Qiu.

Just as he finished speaking, the big screen showed a change—a new video started playing, showing the two Japanese men acting unconcerned on the streets of Val, wandering around.

They specifically crowded into populated areas, seemingly doing nothing, but when Star Ocean froze the frame and zoomed in, their actions became clear.

They appeared to have some sort of needle-like objects, which they quickly poked into some people’s bodies in the crowd.

Because the poking was done swiftly, and the needles seemed very sharp, it was likely that the sensation was no different than being bitten by a mosquito.

In any case, the duo engaged in these activities without anyone noticing.

“Is this needle-like object still there? Are there any more virus agents left?”

As Du Qiu asked, a new video began playing—one that showed a hotel room.

The two were fitting what appeared to be brownish drug vials onto needle-like objects, and it seemed there were more such drug vials in a box nearby.

Unfortunately, there was no conversation between the two men.

“Star Ocean, notify the Iron Guard to sneak into the hotel room and confirm if these objects are in their luggage and then capture them when they return!”

    “Right away, sir.”

“Another thing, in the images transmitted back by the nanobugs and Lurker II, other than the nightclub scene that mentions the Ebola virus, there wasn’t any other talking, right?”

“That’s right, sir. If there had been, I would have informed you earlier.”

“Okay, act quickly. Also, arrange another Iron Guard team to raid the branch of the Heiying Pharmaceutical Research Institute in Kenya, and find all the evidence! Capture everyone and bring them to South Sudan!”

    “Sir, there’s a problem.”

    “What’s the situation?”

Star Ocean explained, “The branch of Heiying Pharmaceutical Research Institute is near a U.S. military base. If we raid that location, we might alarm the U.S. military.

If a conflict arises with them, it’s very easy for them to trace it back to Iron Guard and Li Shennan, especially since the South Sudanese government will present that evidence to the international community.”

After some thought, Du Qiu said, “Star Ocean, we’ll adopt a decoy strategy and have the Iron Guard enter in the guise of the research institute’s personnel. We should be able to resolve this without noise.

Additionally, we need to maintain the operation of the research institute for a while. I want to try to discern whether this is purely a corporate action or one backed by the Japanese government.”

“Understood, sir. I will prepare a thorough plan to ensure everything goes smoothly,” Star Ocean affirmed.

Du Qiu added, “You just mentioned the risk of exposing Li Shennan’s identity. As an experienced intelligence officer, Lagia may have information related to Li Shennan not only in his home.

Therefore, Li Shennan’s identity must have attracted GIA’s attention, and they haven’t acted yet, potentially waiting for the right moment.

Prepare a highly realistic robot to act as Li Shennan, let him stay in the Zhuba Industrial Park of South Sudan, and show up from time to time.

I will use another alias, Zhao Dongfeng, and maintain a low profile as a wealthy individual; that shouldn’t attract GIA’s attention anymore.

By the way, how is the deployment of carbon nanobugs around the GIA headquarters? I want to know how they are planning to deal with Li Shennan.”

“Sir, the security around the GIA headquarters is quite tight. Our agents managed to infiltrate the nanobugs by transporting food supplies; currently, they’ve covered 90% of the target area.”

“Good, I’m looking forward to seeing GIA’s move.”
