Chapter Index

On the flip side of Blue Star, in the United States.

A funeral is taking place, and appropriately, there’s a light rain falling from the sky.

Not far from the funeral site, two individuals stand under umbrellas, watching.

“Imanka, do you really think that Director Clark and Director-General Sandy both died in an accidental car crash?”

Imanka immediately replied, “I was not involved in the investigation and am unaware of any human factors that may have played a part, so I cannot advise you.”

“Do you know what I did before I joined GIA?”

Imanka shook her head, “I’m not sure.”

“I used to be a federal agent, and I have quite a bit of experience with homicide cases.”

“Director, the main task of our Operations Bureau is not solving crimes. Aren’t you afraid of making a mistake?”

The man standing next to Imanka, a tall African American, was the new Director of GIA’s Eastern Affairs Bureau, named Dankar.

Upon hearing Imanka’s comment, a smile appeared on Dankar’s face, “You’re mistaken. By my intuition, there are some doubts about both Directors’ car accidents.

Just before that, they had both planned the missile attack operation against your ex-lover. Everyone involved in the missile attack at the front lines met with accidents.

To me, these coincidences do not seem like coincidences at all.”

Imanka, looking unexpectedly composed, said, “If Director Sir believes I have any lingering ties with Du Qiu, you may investigate me directly. There’s no need to beat around the bush.”

Dankar’s smile remained unchanged as he said, “I’ve already conducted an investigation and cleared you of suspicion.”

Imanka turned abruptly to stare at her new supervisor, thinking to herself, “This guy has just taken over and he’s already completed an investigation on me?”

Dankar, ignoring Imanka’s reaction, continued to look forward to the ongoing funeral and said, “You must be thinking that I’ve only just taken office and have already finished investigating you.”

“Yes, I indeed thought so,” Imanka admitted openly.

Finally turning to face Imanka, Dankar said, “Your brother is still working there. You wouldn’t dare to overstep for the so-called love.”

Imanka stiffened. Her new boss had indeed thoroughly investigated her.

“Did you bring me here and tell me all this because there is something you want me to do?”

Dankar smiled again and said, “You’re indeed smart! There is indeed something I need you to do, but I hope you won’t be as passive as you were with Clark.”

“I wasn’t passive!” Imanka exclaimed, clearly annoyed.

Dankar didn’t look at her, continuing, “If I say that you were passive, then you were passive.

So, for the task I want you to carry out, you need to make every effort. Otherwise, your brother will also suffer the consequences.”

“You…” Imanka grew even angrier, “If you threaten me with my brother again, I’ll quit.”

“Ha ha, Imanka, you’ve been working here for so long. How can you still be so naive? Anyway, let’s talk about the task at hand.”

Dankar seemed entirely unconcerned with Imanka’s emotions, chuckling as he spoke.

Imanka took a few deep breaths to calm herself, then asked, “What exactly do you want me to do?”

“I want you to lure out Du Qiu!” Dankar declared.

“But hasn’t he already been blown to pieces? That was an operation planned by the two Directors, involving the strongest military force.”

Dankar shook his head, “I don’t think he’s dead. If he were, the two Directors would not have died so soon after.”

Imanka no longer wished to engage in further discussion, asking bluntly, “How do you want me to lure him? I don’t even know where he is.”

“Get ready to travel to Berlin and meet with the president of Dream Technology, RRein Leinar. Tell him you need to see Du Qiu,” said Dankar.

“But if I say that, he will definitely refuse me. Why would he take me to see Du Qiu?” Imanka found this strange.

Dankar continued, “Regardless of how he refuses, you must persist and demand to see Du Qiu.

In other words, follow him like a debt collector waiting for repayment.”

Imanka felt somewhat speechless, saying, “That still won’t work. Even if Du Qiu isn’t dead, he won’t risk exposing himself just for me.

Besides, RRein Leinar has no idea about the relationship between me and Du Qiu. Why would he help me meet Du Qiu?”

“No worries, I will give you three strategies. Keep pestering RRein Leinar for about a week, then take out the first strategy and do as it says. If he still doesn’t help, continue pestering him.

After another week, take out the second strategy and follow its instructions. If that still doesn’t work,

keep at it for another week then proceed with what’s inside the third strategy. I’m confident Du Qiu will definitely show himself.”

Imanka looked at Dankar, stunned, and said, “Three strategies? Have you been reading too much of ‘Three Kingdoms’?”

Dankar nodded, “Exactly, I love the ‘Three Kingdoms’, and I have an extraordinary fondness for Kongming and Tang Country’s culture.

If not for these factors, Chief Philip probably wouldn’t have chosen me as the Director of the Eastern Affairs Bureau.”

Imanka hummed softly, “If that’s the criteria for being a Director, then wouldn’t I be quite suitable as well?”

“What did you say?” Dankar turned and asked.

Imanka waved her hand, “Nothing. When should I leave for Berlin?”

“You wait for my notice, but prepare yourself in the meantime. I will personally take you to the plane and hand over the three strategies to you then.

Remember though, make sure to open them on time and not beforehand, or if you leak the secrets leading to a failed operation, you and your brother will be held responsible,” Dankar said.

Hearing him once again use her brother to threaten her, anger raged within Imanka. Yet, she simply nodded calmly on the surface.

“That’s all, you can leave now,” Dankar concluded, gesturing with his hand.

Without any hesitation, Imanka turned and left at once!

    In Japan, Kyoto.

    Inside a morgue.

A woman clad in a plain dress stood in front of a corpse, which was covered by a white cloth, only the head exposed by the lifted fabric.

It was Watanabe Tomohito, who had gone to Kenya in Africa to investigate the Heiying Pharmaceutical Research Institute.

“Miss Watanabe, your brother died suddenly of a heart attack. We’ve just performed an autopsy and confirmed the cause of death. Please accept my condolences.”

Across from the woman was a man in a white lab coat, who was eyeing her with a desire twinkling in his gaze.

The woman in the plain dress was stunningly beautiful, with an oval face, willowy eyebrows, expressive eyes, a straight nose, and tempting red lips.

Her well-proportioned features combined to create a peerless visage.

In the silence of the morgue, with only the man and the woman present, it’s no wonder the man harbored some inappropriate thoughts.

The woman seemed not to hear the man, nor did she look at him.

She pulled the white cloth back further to reveal a distinct suture mark on the bare chest.

Her hand gently stroked the scar as her lips moved, “Did you perform this operation?”

The man nodded eagerly, and, unable to contain his impulses, he moved closer to the woman, saying ingratiatingly, “I am the best forensic doctor here…”

It was as if a flash of light passed through the room.

Suddenly, the man clutched at his neck, eyes wide with shock as he looked at the woman, then slowly collapsed as blood gushed from his throat.

“You defiled my brother’s body, so you can accompany him in death.”

The woman’s delicate hand trembled slightly as a thin sword in her grasp vibrated, scattering a few droplets of blood on the floor.

With another swift motion, she recoiled her hand, and the soft sword transformed into a beautiful belt around her waist.

She covered Watanabe Tomohito again with the white cloth and, pausing, bowed deeply, “Brother, I know you were killed. I will find the murderer and avenge you!”

With those words, the woman turned and walked out of the morgue.

At the door, two men in black suits stood guard.

“Clean up that guy inside properly!”
