Chapter Index

In the Western Hemisphere of Blue Star, within the Germanic region of Berlin, a motorcade departed from the international airport, heading toward the city center.

A pair of Mercedes-Benz official motorcycles led the way, with the first Mercedes sedan behind them, flying the flag of the United States proudly in the wind.

This marked the second stop of U.S. President Baysan Volbsk’s European tour, having just visited the staunch ally, Britain.

Britain had finally conceded in its stance on Dream Technology, agreeing to join the U.S. sanctions against the company.

Recently, there had been no activity from the giant creatures in the Indian Ocean, and economic advisor Miles Snoken presented the urgency of containing Dream Technology to Volbsk for the fourth time, prompting the decision for this visit.

The achievement of the first stop of the tour had put Volbsk in a very good mood, and he was equally confident about his visit to the Germanic region.

His brief exchange with Germanic Chancellor Karel at the airport had already conveyed Karel’s enthusiasm.

The Chancellor had expressed the desire to align with the U.S. on several significant issues, with the sanctions against Dream Technology being a major issue for the U.S. at the moment.

Currently, President Volbsk was in the fifth car, discussing matters with his security advisor, Burns.

“Have we completed the battlefield trial in Persia?” he inquired.

“The tests are basically done, and the military will soon submit a budget report,” Burns replied.

    “How much will it cost?”

“The total is 18 billion dollars.”

“Oh, that’s really expensive. Lawrence is robbing us blind,” Volbsk frowned.

“It’s quite expensive, that’s just the first phase. The military’s plan is to divvy it up into five phases to overhaul the current forces.”

“What? There are four more phases? How much will that cost altogether?” exclaimed Volbsk, alarmed.

“The first phase is the minimum; we’ll need an additional 84 billion dollars, not including the maintenance costs later on.”

“Has Lawrence gone mad? Such a huge amount of funds could buy several aircraft carriers for the military,” Volbsk said angrily.

“Sir, the recent test results have been very good. We’ve had single-digit casualties in Persia.”

“I’ll need to consider this further. Make sure the materials are thoroughly prepared; otherwise, those elephant congressmen will certainly not allow it to pass.”

“Sir, since this involves Lawrence, those elephant congressmen will definitely agree in unison. You don’t need to worry,” Burns reminded him.

“Oh, you’re right. I almost forgot. Lawrence is their major financer…”

Before Volbsk could finish, the leading car abruptly braked hard, causing his vehicle to stop as well.

Then Volbsk heard shouting outside, and just when he was about to ask what happened, a series of explosions occurred.

Both Volbsk and Burns were shocked by the scene, and Burns lowered the partition to the driver’s compartment, shouting, “Quick, open the doors; we need to leave the car immediately.”

However, the driver calmly replied, “No, this car is very safe; ordinary rockets can’t penetrate it. Mr. President, it’s best to stay inside.”

The Secret Service agent in the passenger seat also said, “I’ll get out and check the situation first.”

The agent opened the door and cautiously peered out, using the car door as cover, only to see the car ahead explode twice violently, engulfed in flames.

His complexion changed drastically, and he immediately turned back to shout into the car, “Quick, we must get out; our car won’t withstand those bombs!”

Burns promptly pushed open the door, and by now, gunshots had erupted all around, with explosions occurring continuously.

Evidently, the area had become a battlefield.

Burns felt an absurd sensation—this was the metropolis of Berlin, how could such an attack occur here? Were Germanic military and police just loafing around? And the Secret Service couldn’t stop it?

Burns crouched and exited the vehicle, scouting the surroundings, then discovered to his horror that the attack came from above; Secret Service and Germanic military police were continuously firing into the sky.

All the gunfire was from escorts firing at attackers, with no shots aimed at the motorcade from assailants.

The attackers were drone bombers the size of bats, swarming the sky.

Some dive-bombed and exploded on impact, wiping out military police or vehicles.

The Secret Service agent beside him was already firing at approaching drones.

Seeing this, Burns didn’t dare delay any further and hastily urged Volbsk to exit the car.

“Quick, sir, we must leave the vehicle; those drones will soon bomb these cars.”

As if to confirm Burns’ words, explosions followed one after another; more drones crashed to the ground and detonated.

Some cars from the motorcade, in panic, tried to escape but were prioritized and destroyed by the drones, leaving few unscathed.

Just as Burns led Volbsk not far, multiple explosions occurred; the presidential limousine had been hit by several drones, bursting into flames.

The driver and that agent were swallowed up by the blast.

The power of the drone bombs was too great, actually blowing the presidential car to pieces.

In the ensuing chaos, Burns saw Chancellor Karel’s car on fire, unsure if its occupants had evacuated.

Dragging Volbsk, Burns continued running toward the roadside when suddenly, several drones plunged behind them, followed by an explosion.

The force of the blast hurled them into a roadside drain.

The television reporter covering the visit broadcasted live the attack on U.S. President Baysan Volbsk and Germanic Chancellor Karel in Berlin by unknown drones.

The horrific scene shocked the world!

By the time a large contingent of Germanic military and police, as well as stationed U.S. forces, arrived to secure the scene, it was littered with bodies and no one stood intact.

The European stock market in mid-trade plummeted to trigger a halt, while oil and gold futures soared.

The leaders of two major powers were under attack, their fates unknown.

Everyone feared whether this would lead to a major war.

U.S. CMM Cable News was the first to break the news.

“The real-life ‘Angel Falls,’ God bless America!”

“A vehement condemnation to the attackers for creating a massacre! This is the shame of Germanic!”—Berlin Daily

“Who is the real culprit?”—Le Figaro

“The terrifying drones—how did they breach the protection?”—Reuters

As media speculated who could have orchestrated this appalling attack, the U.S. had already reacted.

The U.S. military went into DEFCON 1, and the U.S. President’s spokesperson declared, “The U.S. vows to pursue the murderer to the end!”

    In Washington, U.S.,

“Mr. Radack, as per Article X of the U.S. Constitution, you will assume the duties of the President. The U.S. is at a critical juncture and needs your calm handling of this event,” the Chief Justice and Speaker of the House informed Radack as they expedited the emergency inauguration procedure.

“Where is General Curtis?” asked Radack.

Vice President Radack was an inconspicuous man but had a military background and came from a commoner class.

During the election, after Volbsk’s original campaign partner suddenly died, Radack stepped in as a substitute.

Radack came to prominence in key states during the crucial moments of the campaign, aiding Volbsk in securing votes from critical states and ultimately defeating the incumbent president, securing Volbsk’s victory.

As a contributor to this triumph, Radack naturally became the Vice President.

Although the role of the U.S. Vice President is an ornamental position, this marked the peak of Radack’s political career.

Thus, he had always diligently executed his nominal duties.

Unexpectedly, the U.S. President had been attacked, making the 51-year-old Radack swiftly ascend to the apex of power.

“General Curtis is on his way back from vacation; Director-General Caesar will arrive in about ten minutes,” the security advisor replied.

Radack, with a grave expression, asked, “What exactly is the situation with the President?”

The advisor saddenedly shook her head, “Currently, the Germanic side has locked down the information; they’re still confused. We can only assume for now that the President is unable to perform his duties.”

“Contact the Germanic side as quickly as possible; I want to speak to them personally. Also, haven’t our troops stationed there arrived at the scene? Who is the commander? I want to contact them.”

“That would require General Curtis’s arrival to determine. For now, you need to give a televised address to stabilize the nation’s citizens,” the advisor suggested.

Radack nodded, “Okay, prepare the draft. I’ll do it right away.”

A few minutes later, as Radack prepared to speak in front of the camera, he saw the security advisor holding up a sign that read “President unfortunately killed!”

“Fellow Americans, I am Acting President Radack. I have just received news that President Baysan Volbsk suffered a terrorist attack in Berlin and has unfortunately perished.

This is a disaster for the U.S. but it will not break our American will; we will never bow to terrorism.

Whoever planned this attack, the U.S. will find them and bring them to the gallows!

I ask everyone to trust in the powerful armed forces of America; we will ensure the security of the citizens, and we will conquer any force that dares to infringe on the U.S.!
