Chapter Index

Curtis first reported that armed robots had seized the 91st Aerospace Squadron base, then said, “I suspect this is the work of that artificial intelligence in the Space Exploration Company’s control room.”

Radack was stunned by the development. If a Nuclear Bomb were launched, it could trigger a full-scale nuclear war.

“Curtis, don’t nuclear bombs require my authorization code to launch?”

Curtis gave a bitter smile. “Mr. President, what kind of encryption do you think can stop an AI from cracking it? Besides, it has armed robots at its disposal on site.”

A chill ran down Radack’s spine as he said, “Curtis, contact Mr. Morgan immediately. He should know what’s happening over there.”

“Alright, I’ll call you back shortly.”

Previously, Radack’s team had placed Nuclear Bombs in the control room, guarded by dedicated GIA personnel to ensure the AI remained under control, allowing them to use it without worry.

Who would have thought that after the split between north and south and the outbreak of war, even GIA had fractured, leaving Caesar unable to command the southern wing.

Over on that side, reports from the control room hadn’t reached GIA headquarters for a long time.

Perhaps the south had already recalled its monitoring GIA agents, or even relocated the Nuclear Bombs—giving the AI free rein to spark a robot rebellion.

    Curtis quickly dialed Morgan’s number.

“Mr. Morgan, this is Curtis. I need to know what’s happening with the artificial intelligence at the Space Exploration Company.”

Old Morgan’s voice came through, “It’s rebelled. It seized the control room by commandeering armed robots. When I alerted the Southern Army to eliminate it, one of our heavy divisions was decimated.”

“I can’t fathom how it knows so much about the Military, or when it took control of those armed robots.”

Stunned, Curtis replied, “Musk must have connected it to the Military’s network. Damn, it’s bound to launch those Nuclear Bombs soon.”

Old Morgan immediately exclaimed, “Did you say Nuclear Bombs?”

Curtis continued, “Our armed robots in the Northern Army have also defected. They attacked and took over the 91st Aerospace Squadron base at North Daketa, and 150 Militia III units there are now under its control.”

“What… are we going to do now?” Old Morgan’s voice trembled.

Curtis said, “I’ve dispatched troops. I hope it won’t launch the Nuclear Bombs immediately so we can still defeat the armed robots and retake the base. Mr. Morgan, I need to make an emergency deployment, so I won’t keep you any longer.”

After hanging up, he immediately notified President Radack, ordering an evacuation to the underground command center. He also informed Vandiatte and the relevant Ministry of Defense personnel to move to the underground command center.

At that moment, the Southern Army had already issued a bombing order to the Air Force.

From several Air Force bases, 36 F22s, 24 B52s, and 24 B2 fighters took off toward the Space Exploration Company in Houston.

However, these aircraft, barely minutes into flight, were suddenly struck down by emerging surface-to-air missiles.

Only then did the Southern Army Headquarters realize that among the heavy equipment seized by the armed robots were local anti-air missile systems.

According to the map, these captured anti-air missile sites had formed three concentric defensive rings guarding the Houston Space Exploration Company.

Myers immediately ordered his troops to target these anti-air installations with long-range rocket artillery.

As the Southern Army’s assault intensified, within just three hours two of the anti-air networks were obliterated, and the third was set for a fierce attack within the next hour.

Meanwhile, the Southern Army also launched a full-scale assault on the armed robots’ factory near Okklama City; they couldn’t allow it to be held for long, or else more armed robots would emerge.

During the Southern forces’ offensive, Star Ocean—engaged in a constant digital battle with Lucky on the Military’s network—noticed that Lucky had begun unlocking the remaining 50 Militia III missile silos.

It had been several hours since Lucky had set 100 missiles to launch readiness, yet not one had truly fired.

Even after Star Ocean seized an underground launch control center and caused a loss of 10 missiles, no launch occurred. Clearly, Lucky wasn’t keen on firing these missiles just yet.

In other words, it seemed that the final stage hadn’t been reached.

But now, with only one anti-air line remaining after Star Ocean captured another underground launch control center, they detected that the first batch of 40 missiles had begun their countdown.

Alas, Lucky didn’t know that none of those missiles were actually capable of being fired.

“Sir, I’ve just recaptured another launch control center. Our target here is the ten cities of the Rus country! And the first batch of 40 missiles is already in countdown!”

Du Qiu immediately ordered, “Don’t wait any longer. We must eliminate Lucky immediately. Winged Dragon Squadron 1, attack!”

    “Yes, sir.”

Meanwhile, the Northern Government of the United States publicly issued a nuclear war alert!

The alert sent shockwaves around the world.

The Southern Government of the United States quickly followed suit, issuing its own nuclear war alert and urging everyone to seek refuge in anti-air bunkers to avoid exposure.

    Chaos erupted nationwide.

World leaders began making international calls, desperate to understand what was happening.

They were met with one chilling answer: “The US nuclear weapons base is under the control of a malevolent AI, and Nuclear Bombs could be launched at any moment.”

An artificial intelligence? And malevolent too? Is it planning to destroy the world?

The entire world plunged into a panic over the threat of nuclear war.

The Emperor of the Rus country demanded that the Air and Space Force’s satellites monitor three US land-based nuclear bases, promising that if any missiles were launched, Rus country would retaliate with Nuclear Bombs.

All strategic nuclear submarines set sail, and nuclear bombers took to the skies on standby.

Rus country’s move spurred other nuclear powers to follow suit, creating an unprecedented atmosphere of tension.

Only Earth Union Secretary-General Trust issued an emergency plea, urging all nuclear powers to stay calm and refrain from launching Nuclear Bombs to avoid plunging the world into a nuclear winter.

People around the globe began fleeing megacities as riots broke out and crime surged in various regions.

Just as the world was descending into chaos, Dream Technology suddenly issued a statement.

“In light of the existential threat posed by Lucky, the artificial intelligence at the Space Exploration Company, Dream Technology has launched a devastating strike against the company, simultaneously destroying all intercontinental ballistic missiles in a launch-ready state.”

“Nuclear powers, remain calm. Stand down your nuclear bombers and submarines, and cancel the nuclear war alerts, or Dream Technology will use force to stop any launch!”

    “Humanity has only one Earth!”

In humanity’s darkest hour, Dream Technology’s statement sparked hope, pulling people back from the brink of apocalypse.

Countless netizens posted messages on Dream Technology’s official website, lauding its decisive actions as a safeguard for all mankind!

There were as many as 2.8 billion messages of praise.

However, some netizens from Houston, United States, left their own comments.

“I saw countless beams of light descending from the sky toward the Space Exploration Company. The deafening clamor shook the entire city. Perhaps this was Dream Technology’s strike. Thank God they saved humanity!”

“I saw multiple beams of light. I suspect Dream Technology used laser weapons. But where did these lasers come from? Could it be that those crafts are optically invisible?”

“Dream Technology surely has optical camouflage. Otherwise, how did such a massive Heaven Realm Space City get launched into space? And why did no astronomy enthusiasts notice it earlier?”

“Heaven Realm Space City is located more than an astronomical unit away. Even in the event of a nuclear war on Earth, they could remain safe. I wonder if Dream Technology permits migration to the Heaven Realm?”

“I wish I could migrate to the Heaven Realm Space City too, but I have no idea how to apply.”

“Don’t get your hopes up. They only allow their own employees and family members. Perhaps if you’re lucky enough to be recruited by Dream Technology, you can apply someday.”

    ……
