Chapter 46: Qin Yun Runs into Trouble

Sun Hongming curiously asked, “What have you thought of?”

Du Qiu said excitedly, “The high-speed separator I developed was originally intended for the production of new materials. However, I just considered that with some modifications, it could be used as a core component for manufacturing a kind of waste sorting and processing equipment. It can thoroughly separate most waste, extract useful substances, and properly package the rest for disposal. By doing this, even if people still need to sort waste at the source, the categories will be greatly reduced, easing the confusion about how to sort their trash.”

Sun Hongming’s eyes lit up as he said, “The country is now placing great emphasis on environmental protection. Our equipment should have a big market potential; the outlook is very promising.”

These days, Du Qiu continuously researched the purification processes for various elemental materials in his dreams, hoping to find some new materials suitable for production in the real world of Blue Star. He found that the super machine had astonishingly strict requirements for the purity of elements before combining them to create binary materials. It was not about achieving 100% purity but about reaching a specific value of purity. The same element, at different purity levels, could combine with another element to produce binary materials with different properties. In his research, Du Qiu discovered that it was difficult for current material purification processes to achieve this precise control, hence his desire to fully replicate the purification production method from his dreams in the real world.

Unfortunately, he quickly realized that the high-speed separator was a major obstacle. Du Qiu estimated that only some high-standard titanium alloy could serve as the rotor, and that would be too expensive. Such an equipment producing new materials would inevitably be costly, and the competitiveness of the new materials would be greatly diminished.

The most troublesome aspect was that the company was newly established. Money had been flowing out, and Tianqi Company only started to see some income today. However, since it was the end of the month and Tianqi had not shipped much, the available funds were limited. Real substantive income would only come in the next month. With not much money in the company’s account, it was not the right time to replicate the high-speed separator.

Now, if the high-speed separator could be used as a core component of the waste treatment equipment, the cost of producing titanium alloy rotor components in bulk could be spread out with increasing sales volume. Having resolved this problem, Du Qiu’s mood greatly improved, and he immediately toasted with Sun Hongming and Yuan Minhua.

After the toast, Du Qiu instructed, “Brother Sun, do a thorough investigation of the waste treatment equipment market to see how we can enter it.”

Beep beep beep… From the coat hanger behind him, Du Qiu’s phone inside his suit started ringing with an alarm-like sound. He had worn the suit today for the demonstration at Tianqi Company and had put his phone in the suit pocket.

Du Qiu’s complexion changed at the sound. He immediately stood up, took off his suit, and retrieved his phone. The alarm sound was a notification set for the watch alarms of Zhang Mingliu and his sisters-in-law.

Du Qiu started checking his phone, and just then, Wu Xinghuo’s voice suddenly came from the doorway, “Whoa, there’s a good show to watch down in the lobby. Looks like someone is being accused of being a mistress.”

Hearing his shout, many people immediately ran out to watch.

While checking the alarm app, Du Qiu discovered that the location of the activated alarm was actually inside this restaurant. And upon closer look, it was right on the ground floor!

Without a second thought, Du Qiu rushed out, while Sun Hongming and Yuan Minhua, not expecting Du Qiu to run out to see the commotion, glanced at each other and followed.

In the hotel lobby, a crowd had formed a circle where three women were grappling with another woman.

“Damn wretch, dare to seduce my husband! I’ll kill you!”

“Why would you be someone’s mistress? Such disgrace!”

“Look at you, all flirtatious. I’ll strip you bare!”

“What are you doing? Help!”

“Hey, who are you people?”

When Du Qiu arrived at the edge of the circle, he saw Qin Yun being attacked by three women, who had already used their hands and feet to pin Qin Yun to the ground and were starting to tear off her clothes. The two hotel security guards were shouting loudly but didn’t intervene as if unsure whether they wanted to watch the drama unfold.

Qin Yun was dressed in a white chiffon blouse with half sleeves and a black pencil skirt for the top and bottom halves, respectively. At this point, her blouse was torn, exposing her bra, and her skirt had been wrenched up to her thighs; the situation was very dire.

“What are you doing? Attacking a police relative in public!”

Following this roar, a figure dashed forward and quickly pushed the three women surrounding Qin Yun to one side. Then, a suit jacket was wrapped around the somewhat exposed Qin Yun, and the startled woman was helped to her feet.

When Qin Yun realized the person in front of her was Du Qiu, she said, “Xiao Du, they are slandering me…”

“Who are you? Daring to meddle…”

“Shut up!” Du Qiu turned around, pointed at the woman who was speaking, and shouted sternly.

“You are publicly assaulting a police relative in a public venue! Come with me to the police station right now!”

Du Qiu did not waste words with the three women. He swiftly restrained the one who was speaking by twisting her arms behind her back. His actions were similar to a police officer arresting a criminal. This frightened the other two women, who began to back away, saying, “I had nothing to do with it. I was just helping out…”

After seizing the woman, Du Qiu shouted at the two security guards, “What good are you for? This is a five-star hotel! As security guards, your inaction is grounds for dismissal! Detain them; I am calling the police!”

The shocked onlookers, who had been enjoying what seemed a mistress-shaming spectacle, could not believe the sudden turn of events.

Around the corner of a corridor in the lobby, a man grumbled irritably, “Damn your luck, just went to the restroom and someone cuts in?” He then quickly left.

Some of the onlookers were Dream Technology employees, and seeing their boss act heroically, they secured the other two women and even called 110 (the police).

“You let me go! She’s a mistress who seduced my husband; what’s wrong with us punishing her!” the first woman Du Qiu caught shouted.

“Regardless of whether what you say is true, the actions of all three of you constitute the crimes of insult and intentional injury, not to mention you are falsely accusing someone, which is also defamation! For these reasons, you must come with me to the police station!” Du Qiu let her go and said to Liu Yaofeng, who had made his way through the crowd, “Watch her!”

Then he dialed Su Jianming’s number on his phone.

“Su Squad, I’m Du Qiu. Qin Yun was attacked at the Peninsula Hotel… Oh, you’ve received the alarm and are on your way. Alright… I’ll wait for you!”

The three women’s expressions paled as they heard Du Qiu’s conversation on the phone, their gazes nervously scanning the crowd.

Du Qiu glanced aside and saw a man stepping out from the crowd.

It was someone familiar – it was President Huang whom he had met before at the auto repair shop. President Huang seemed not to remember Du Qiu; he looked serious as he approached Qin Yun and said, “Qin Yun, I’m disappointed to learn of your misconduct. I vouched for you before so you could remain at the factory to be observed. Now you’ve caused this scene; if it affects the reputation of the factory, I won’t be able to explain it to Secretary Ding. Perhaps you should take some time off at home until I notify you.” After speaking, President Huang turned to leave.

“Hey, President Huang, I’ve been framed… you…”

Du Qiu stopped President Huang and said, “You’re Qin Yun’s supervisor?”

“That’s right. I’m Huang Zifeng, the Chief Financial Officer of the shipyard, and Qin Yun works under me.”

As he finished speaking, the woman Liu Yaofeng had detained suddenly asked Qin Yun, “Your name is Qin Yun? How many names do you have?”

Du Qiu looked at her, “She only has this one name! Don’t tell me you recognized the wrong person?”

The woman stomped her foot, “Oh, I apologize; we really got the wrong person. The mistress I’m looking for is named Tan Yan; a friend told me she was here with my husband, and her description and attire match yours exactly. We rushed over, saw you from behind, and thought you were Tan Yan with my husband but neither of you is the right person.”

Qin Yun was in tears, feeling deeply humiliated by the events of the day. If not for Du Qiu’s timely intervention, she might have been stripped in public, which would have meant a fate worse than death.
