Chapter 82: Xue Ningmei Pays a Visit
by xennovelQin Yun took a seat and then saw Du Qiu turning the laptop screen towards her.
“Take a look at my company’s structure and the financial aspects, and let me know what you think?”
Qin Yun’s gaze swept over the new company structure on the screen, her face showing a surprised expression.
She glanced up at Du Qiu and saw no particular expression on his face, so she lowered her head to read the explanatory text under the structure chart carefully.
After a long time, she looked up and asked, “The Dream Technology at the very top, are you planning to make that an offshore company?”
“Hmm, doing so would make the shareholding a bit more complicated.”
“If it’s just to complicate the shareholding, there’s actually no need for an offshore company anymore. Starting this year, the jurisdictions hosting offshore companies are also required to exchange company information automatically with our country, so the kind of secrecy and tax avoidance that used to be possible are now gone.”
“Is that so?” Du Qiu paused, rubbing his temples unconsciously.
“Although offshore companies will start to exchange basic corporate information this year, such as employee information, making the shareholders’ anonymity a thing of the past, having an offshore company is still convenient if we are involved in a lot of international trade.”
Du Qiu thought for a moment and said, “Originally making the shareholding complex was intended to obscure ownership. If offshore companies can’t achieve that, then there’s no need for them.
After all, in today’s age of big data, no matter how complex the shareholdings are, computers will reveal all relationships in an instant.”
“Unless…” Qin Yun started to say and stopped.
“Unless what?” Du Qiu looked curiously at Qin Yun.
“Unless you have a trustworthy agent, and there’s no obvious relationship like family or friendship between the agent and you.”
“Heh, someone trustworthy and yet a stranger, that’s difficult to find.”
Du Qiu laughed and said, “Then we’ll just have to register these companies openly and honestly.”
After thinking for a moment, Qin Yun suggested, “If these companies are going to engage in international trade, I still think it’s better to register them as offshore companies.
This way, at least during certain trades, if the other party has an offshore company, settlement can be done directly in foreign currency. You know the domestic controls on foreign exchange.”
Looking at Qin Yun, Du Qiu suddenly had an idea and asked, “What if we registered one of the companies using your identity, would you mind?”
“Using my identity?” Qin Yun countered by pointing to herself, then said, “If you trust me, then go ahead. After all, I trust you.”
Du Qiu didn’t realize that his timely employment of Qin Yun allowed her to escape the entanglement of Huang Zifeng promptly, rejuvenating her entire life with vitality once again.
Moreover, Du Qiu had also asked the police to issue a notice, clearing up misunderstanding on the internet and at the shipyard, making Qin Yun immensely grateful to him.
With the new company and a new environment, Qin Yun had been more content than ever these past days.
Du Qiu nodded and instructed, “Alright, I’ll leave this to you. The principle is to make the companies seem unrelated as much as possible.”
“Understood, I’ll make sure to handle it well.”
Qin Yun thought further and inquired, “However, for these companies to truly operate, you’ll need to hire personnel. Where do you plan on conducting the interviews?”
“After you have all the companies registered, we’ll proceed with that one by one. Also, pay for the registration expenses from my profit shares this month.”
“Alright. Send me that document,” Qin Yun pointed to the laptop screen and said.
“Sure, I’ll send it to you right now.”
After Qin Yun left, Du Qiu was still contemplating the fact that even the jurisdictions hosting offshore companies had been compelled to compromise by the major countries.
“In an instant, there are a million possibilities…”
His phone rang, and Du Qiu picked it up, somewhat surprised, and answered the call.
“Chairman Xue, I just knew something was up when I heard the magpies this morning; turns out, my god of wealth was coming. Are you in the capital or in Magic City?”
With Xue Ningmei’s Huading Group offering a substantial order, Dream Technology became very busy. Still, it was a very profitable business indeed.
With half the advance payment received, Du Qiu was able to plan many things, such as purchasing a scanning tunneling microscope.
“Guess where I am?” Xue Ningmei’s voice sounded very charming, not at all like that of someone in her forties.
“Given that you’re asking, you must be in Magic City.”
“Hehe, that’s not a wrong guess. Now guess where I am in Magic City?”
“If you’re in Magic City, you should be at Tianqi Company.”
“Wrong guess. Hurry up and come out to pick me up, I’m right outside the doors of your company.”
“Oh my, Chairman Xue, is this some sort of surprise attack? My deepest apologies, I’m coming out right away to greet you.”
Du Qiu hung up the phone and hurried out of his office, along with Sun Hongming.
“Chairman Xue suddenly visiting?” Sun Hongming was a bit stunned but quickly followed Du Qiu downstairs. As they passed the Human Resources and Administration Department on the second floor, he asked someone to fetch Yuan Minhua and quickly prepare the conference room.
Soon, he caught up with Du Qiu, and they both crossed the sales department to reach the new entrance of the company.
They saw a Mercedes parked at the entrance, and Sun Hongming briskly ran ahead to have the security guard open the automatic door.
Du Qiu approached the Mercedes and saw the rear door open, Xue Ningmei smiling and stepping out of the car.
“This place looks pretty good, huh.”
Du Qiu briefly introduced the front street-facing sales department to Xue Ningmei, then lead her through the sales office area into the workshop.
Meanwhile, Sun Hongming had Xue Ningmei’s driver move the car to the company’s internal parking lot and caught up with them.
“Chairman Xue, did you come alone today?” Sun Hongming asked, somewhat surprised.
Xue Ningmei nodded slightly, “Yes, I’ve come specially to see Du Qiu today; it’s not about business.”
Du Qiu chuckled, “Chairman Xue, you’re always joking. Let me give you a tour of the workshop first. Most of the machines here are prototypes provided by your Tianqi Company. They’ve really helped us out.”
As Xue Ningmei followed Du Qiu, looking and listening, when she saw Siemens’ CNC machining center and the Rein Leinar busy working there, she asked in amazement, “This is Siemens’ equipment. Are you also switching to the Heavenly System?”
“Yes, you must have heard about it. We showcased Fa Ke Company’s original equipment with the replaced Heavenly System at the exhibition in the capital. Some customers have enquired whether the Siemens machines can be switched as well.”
“Can they be switched? How about the machining precision and stability?” Xue Ningmei continued the conversation.
“Of course, they can be switched. The machining precision will improve in all aspects.”
Xue Ningmei looked at the equipment with a disturbed mind.
Although she was not technically knowledgeable, she had been in the industry for many years and had heard plenty from experts.
If software could easily improve the performance of the entire piece of equipment, domestic manufacturers would have surpassed their foreign counterparts long ago.
After all, this was not just any business application software; it was control software that needed to integrate highly with the hardware.
Indeed, she hadn’t misjudged Du Qiu’s talent.
Thinking this, Xue Ningmei said, “Dr. Du, let’s talk in your office.”
“Sure, this way, please.”
Xue Ningmei’s solitary visit today obviously had an agenda, and it certainly wasn’t just to see Du Qiu as she had claimed.
Seeing the door of Du Qiu’s office close, Sun Hongming wiped the sweat from his forehead; he had broken into a sweat after running around.
They say people gain weight in middle age, but Sun Hongming remained thin, which was somewhat worrisome.
“President Sun, I thought Chairman Xue would bring a group with her. Turns out, she’s alone; we prepared the conference room in vain,” Yuan Minhua suddenly said beside Sun Hongming.
Sun Hongming smiled and responded, “Complain less, Chairman Xue might become a shareholder of our company.”
“Really? Is President Du willing to finance?”
“Financing is good for the company. With more money, the company has a brighter future, and everyone’s treatment can improve.”
Yuan Minhua nodded, “That would indeed be good news.”
