Chapter 219: A Proposal to Alter Fate
by xennovelHmm!?
The entire assembly was stunned.
As the broadcast chimed in unison, all 118 Committee members turned their gaze toward Yenir at the edge.
What the hell is going on!?
If Yenir hadn’t pressed that button, amid the lengthy meeting, they might have even forgotten he was there.
“He even has a proposal!?”
“What is this kid trying to do?!”
General Huang’s face soured as he was interrupted. He had already contacted many top officials before the meeting to present his ideas and planned to be the first to propose. But Yenir beat him to it, throwing all his prepared remarks into disarray.
Meanwhile, Fang Hao, seated beside Yenir, watched in amazement as Yenir slowly rose to his feet.
“Yenir!?”
“What are you doing?!”
“Sit down immediately!”
Urgency laced his tone.
Fang Hao knew full well that the Authorities had only given Yenir an honorary committee seat for show — he was merely supposed to listen. There was no chance they intended to let him influence national policy. In conferences like these, one simply couldn’t speak out of turn!
“Honorary Committee Member No. 119, Yenir, did you press the wrong button?”
“If so, please sit down. Don’t disrupt the meeting.”
On the dais, Commissar Hu frowned as he watched Yenir, who had risen with his documents in hand, a flicker of displeasure crossing his eyes.
The Prime Minister had once opposed giving the kid a committee seat.
So young and inexperienced—how could he possibly serve as a committee member? Even if he had the right to propose, what could he possibly suggest?
Ignoring the shocked, panicked, and questioning stares from the crowd, Yenir shook his head and fixed his gaze on the dais:
“I didn’t press the wrong button.”
“I have a proposal that must be approved by the committee!”
With that, the room plunged into an eerie silence.
Even Li Xuanguo furrowed his brow as Yenir’s determination set in, while several mid-level officials outside the hall looked utterly terrified.
They’d been warned by their aides before the meeting that Yenir looked like he was about to propose something. Initially, they had dismissed their concerns when they saw him silently listening.
“Didn’t you tell Yenir not to speak out of turn!?”
“How exactly did you explain the rules to him!?”
“We’re doomed. This is a disaster!”
With a dismayed expression, a rather corpulent official reprimanded a little girl, wishing he could whisk Yenir away immediately!
What kind of place is this! What sort of meeting is this!
Even the highest-ranking officials would tread lightly in such a conference, terrified of saying the wrong thing—any misstep could lead to a colossal crisis!
If Yenir ends up spouting nonsense or bizarre ideas, as the head of the event setup department, he would undoubtedly be held accountable!
Nearly brought to tears by the impending scolding, the girl who had greeted Yenir earlier wiped away her tears, unable to offer any explanation.
She had said everything already!
But given her position, how could she dare tell Yenir he wasn’t allowed to propose?
Amid all the commotion, Yenir ignored every wary gaze.
When most would buckle under the pressure, he simply spoke again:
“Committee Member No. 119, Yenir! I formally submit my proposal!”
His tone was resolute.
On the dais, Li Xuanguo regarded him in silence before slowly speaking:
“Fine.”
“Committee Member No. 119, Yenir, please present your proposal.”
Yenir’s right to speak had been granted. No matter how absurd his actions seemed, he had no choice but to abide by the rules!
“Prime Minister!?”
“Prime Minister! Yenir might be…”
Amid a chorus of urging voices, Li Xuanguo remained expressionless, decisively silencing any opposition.
“Let Committee Member Yenir present his proposal!”
At this point, he was genuinely curious about what Yenir intended to say.
Gripping the microphone, Yenir’s eyes sharpened as he took a deep breath.
He knew that his forthcoming speech and proposal were the most critical moments since his rebirth.
Could he avert the impending disaster? Could he spark a new beginning? Everything hinged on this moment!
He aimed to save all his comrades who shouldn’t perish and minimize needless losses! He needed everyone to believe him; Yenir could foresee the disaster!
An unprecedented catastrophe was about to begin!
“The content of my proposal is…”
“Honorary Committee Member No. 119, Yenir!”
“I propose to mobilize all combat-ready forces from the East Sea Battle Zone! Evacuate the 6.7 million survivors of Safety Zone No.239 from the coast immediately!”
“In approximately 17 to 23 days, a sea beast invasion will erupt along the coast!”
“The invasion level is…”
“Level A!!”
His words struck like an ancient bell, their ominous toll resonating deeply within everyone’s hearts.
