Chapter Index

    “Yenir!?”

As Yenir shattered the window with brute force and effortlessly ignited the engine, the entire squad stared in dumbfounded silence.

The amount of information was overwhelming.

Surrender command? And then Yenir would lead them in overthrowing the highest power!?

Such an outrageous order sounded like a ghost story to them. Had it not been for the unruffled expression on the youth’s face, they might have suspected that Yenir was furious, his thoughts already spiraling out of control.

With his hands on the automatically popping car door, Ming Luo scanned the surroundings nervously, wary of any cameras or NPCs approaching.

The shrill beeping of the alarm sent a wave of tension across the group.

“Get down! Yenir, come down now!”

“This isn’t even the apocalypse stage of the instance yet! What you’re doing is just asking for trouble!”

“Even though they’re NPCs in the instance, they’re just like anyone in reality! Whether we steal the car or kill someone, the NPCs will hunt us down!”

Although he didn’t know how Yenir managed to start this sci-fi floating car, he felt compelled to rein in the youth’s reckless impulses.

Seeing Ming Luo and the others hesitate to board the vehicle, Yenir silently shook his head and pulled out the military order granted to him:

“Ming Luo of the Special Operations Team, you are now promoted to Captain!”

“What? Are you trying to defy orders!?”

In a flash of white light, Ming Luo saw a Class A Command Token from the Military appear in Yenir’s hand. According to regulations, whoever wields this has the authority to command most combat units.

Ming Luo’s pupils constricted as he fixed his gaze on the token, a chill running through him.

Damn it! The Military even handed this over to Yenir!? This is madness! How can he lead the team? The youth’s experience in the instance hardly seemed to compare to his.

Still bound by military orders, he had no choice but to comply. Clinging to a last shred of hope, his eyes pleaded silently for Yenir to stop his antics.

    It simply couldn’t be done…

Overthrowing the global regime—what a far-fetched idea. Surely, Yenir didn’t realize just how formidable a complete civilization could be.

With this small group, controlling the entire world was out of the question; they might struggle even to locate their national leader!

Once they were surrounded by the Armed Department here, they’d be finished off one by one.

“Get in the car—the Military passed me the data!”

“Trust me, I know what I’m doing!”

Without a word of hesitation, Yenir expertly activated the onboard control panel, his fingers dancing like butterflies as he input a long string of core control commands.

With the command entered, the car’s built-in alarm system was effectively disabled.

In his previous life, even if he hadn’t achieved a high rating in this instance, his exploration skills were renowned.

After the outbreak, in a bid to save as many lives as possible, the world government had made the terminal keys for various devices public in all tech companies—so survivors could navigate unimpeded in times of escape or need.

Moreover, survivors had cracked the keys to many military installations. After all, how could they fight mutated beings relying solely on their fists?

The squad members watched his swift movements, suddenly realizing something significant.

It seemed that Yenir really did know something.

A mix of shock and suspicion spread among them.

After Ming Luo forced himself into the car, within seconds he felt a sudden jolt beneath him. The floating car, which had been parked, instantly levitated with a slight humming sound and shot up into the sky.

    Such a smooth, practiced maneuver…

Recalling Yenir’s earlier words, Ming Luo’s mind swirled with doubts.

Could it be that the Military actually knew more about this instance? But why hadn’t they mentioned it to them!?

“Beep—Current destination set: No. 91 Champs-Élysées to Leysen Manor.”

Noticing the group’s growing confusion, Yenir, after confirming the target, casually explained:

“The higher-ups suspect we have a mole, so most of the instance data wasn’t distributed. And as for how the Authorities got the info, don’t even ask. It’s classified.”

With a mysterious smile, Yenir swept a scrutinizing glance around the car.

He had chosen a business-grade floating car that could accommodate everyone.

As his words faded, shock flashed in their eyes. Zheng Cheng, in particular, felt a shiver run down his spine.

A traitor!? There was a mole among them!?

Though it was hard to believe, no one dared question Yenir. After all, his status spoke for itself, making it appear as though it were indeed so.

    So…

Their faulty intelligence must be because of a traitor in the team!?

“Let’s not start suspecting one another. The Military isn’t sure whether the mole is in our squad or in another department.”

“Just follow my orders. Trust me.”

In a soothing tone, Yenir turned his gaze toward the fleeting skyscrapers outside. Unlike real-world architecture, the buildings here favored angular, triangle designs. From afar, they resembled enormous glass pyramids, intertwined with streams of traffic that soared along electronic highways like rainbows.

On massive virtual billboards, finely featured humans were busy presenting products or airing advertisements.

The whole world was draped in dazzling colors that made one’s eyes spin.

    Prosperity, strength, civilization, order…

The futuristic city left one momentarily spellbound.

Even though some of the team had been here before, their previous missions were confined to the mine, never venturing into the city.

    “Whoosh, whoosh—whoosh, whoosh”

A fleet of floating trains, snaking around the city’s main arteries, obeyed the central control of the metropolis. Even at speeds of up to 600 km/h, there was no worry of traffic jams or collisions. On the ground, people equipped with micro-gravity devices strolled leisurely through the shopping district, while playful children clambered along shop walls, darting about.

A scene of harmony and abundance.

Watching the scene below in silence, while the others basked momentarily in the brilliance of this world, he quickly compared it with his memories.

In his previous life, when he had entered this world, all that remained were ruins and radiation-soaked chasms—the sky itself was a dismal gray-green.

    A zombie-infested realm…

That’s what the system called it.

And here, the survivors called themselves…

    A superior human civilization.
