Chapter 266: Chaos Unleashed
by xennovelBoom!!
Everything happened too fast.
A massive whirlpool suddenly appeared on the ground, leaving a battalion of guard soldiers staring in disbelief. Amidst flashing lightning and resounding thunder, the darkened sky looked as if the apocalypse had arrived.
Before anyone could react, a giant head burst from the vortex, its decaying, beastly maw lashing out toward the building.
Boom!!!
The building trembled violently.
In an instant, an official seated on the edge of the large conference room was struck down by a single palm blow before he could even scream.
A heavy stench of decay filled the air.
As the monster fully emerged, a burst of gray, mist-like flames spewed from its enormous mouth, instantly turning the conference hall into a raging inferno.
Shock washed over every high-up in the meeting room.
What kind of monster is this?!
Faced with the endless stream of emerging creatures, they felt a chilling numbness grip every cell in their bodies.
The gap in vitality was overwhelming—as if creatures from the bottom of the food chain had come face-to-face with their ultimate predator.
“This is bad!”
“Everyone, get close! These monsters are the mutants I warned you about!”
“Damn! They’ve followed us too!”
On the dais, Yenir bellowed. With impressive acting skills, he grabbed the stunned President and swiftly raised a blue energy shield.
“Ming Luo! Stop those monsters! They’re here to sabotage our plan!”
“Human civilization cannot afford another failure!”
“They must be terrified of our power to change the future!”
Sticking to the script, Yenir watched the unfolding scene with satisfaction.
Under the effects of disguise and illusion, Lin Rui and the others had, in the eyes of the high-ups, become three-headed, terrifying mutants.
Even though they were just ordinary infected humans, their killing efficiency was astonishing—a single charge often wiped out an entire group of high-level figures.
“Yenir! Go protect the other high-ups! We’ll stop these monsters!”
“We absolutely cannot let them kill anyone else!”
They roared in anger.
Ming Luo awkwardly recited the lines Yenir had given him before dashing toward the invading mutants that were storming the building.
To be honest, it was his first time acting.
Determined to impress the high-ups, he summoned every ounce of strength and unleashed his Spirit Energy. Though it appeared as if he was wildly slashing, it was all for show and had no real lethality.
Boom boom boom! Boom!
For a moment, the entire Federation Tower looked as if it were caught in an epic battle from legend.
On one side, mutants were frenziedly slaughtering the high-ups, while on the other, Ming Luo fought desperately to block the monstrous invaders.
Meanwhile, other high-ups sheltered within Yenir’s protective shield trembled in disbelief as they watched the chaos.
It was utterly shocking!
The constant explosion of Spirit Energy and onslaught of monsters was like something straight out of a movie, continuously shattering their worldviews.
Pale and trembling, President Bayen stuttered with quivering lips, exclaiming:
“Are these the monsters of the apocalypse?”
“My God! They actually exist!”
His heart felt like it would burst.
Nothing could compare to witnessing it firsthand, not even Yenir’s video recordings.
To them, the soldiers who rushed in for backup looked like a swarm of ants, often being instantly crushed into a pulp by the shockwaves of battle.
Monsters with blood-red eyes—some with double heads or grotesquely deformed bodies—rampaged, attacking those who hadn’t found shelter behind a shield.
Giant feet crashed down, claiming countless high-level lives every second.
It was all real! The apocalypse had truly arrived!
Yenir’s earlier commands echoed as the high-ups huddled near him, nervously swallowing.
These creatures that emerged from the vortex were clearly the very mutants Yenir had prepared to stop them!
“Don’t be afraid!”
“These monsters aren’t even that strong! The first few waves we can take care of!”
With a determined look, Yenir reassured them, signaling that the President and the others need not worry.
Yet, unbeknownst to them, he was coldly calculating the death toll.
Hearing Yenir’s comforting words did nothing to ease the high-ups; in fact, unease gripped their hearts.
“What?! More waves coming?!”
“There are more of these powerful monsters?!”
No wonder Yenir had summoned them; no wonder he threatened them to prepare in haste!
Faced with the real threat, they no longer doubted him and felt grateful to have Yenir protecting them.
Without him, they would all have perished here!
Noting that the plan was proceeding smoothly and judging by the high-ups’ reactions, Yenir silently nodded to himself—there was no time to waste.
The infected here had been nearly wiped out. Seizing the moment, he pressed on to eliminate the next wave!
He planned to take out a portion first to see if the system would mark his mission as complete!
Without hesitation, using mental commands, Yenir signaled Lin Rui and the others to prepare to attack the next target.
“Move out!”
“Feign defeat and retreat! Then we go kill the next wave!”
Disguised as a giant mutant, Zheng Cheng, upon receiving Yenir’s order, gave Lin Rui a knowing look before forcefully landing a blow on Ming Luo and then roaring as he was hurled backward.
“Stop them!”
“We must not let these monsters escape!”
After stiltedly reciting his lines, Ming Luo pushed aside his unsettling feelings and quickly gave chase.
Meanwhile, millions of civilians outside the Federation Tower watched in horror as the team pursued and slaughtered the mutants.
Chaos and screams filled the air.
Once a magnificent, imposing structure, the Federation Tower was now half-ruined.
In the grip of panic, people felt as if the end of the world had come.
…………
Half an hour later.
Fixated on the system panel, Yenir’s heart tightened with anxiety.
According to plan, Lin Rui and his team—disguised as monsters—should have already charged toward the military base, where a large group of soldiers with replaced organs were gathered.
With thirty thousand soldiers, even when including over four thousand deceased high-ups, the number was still far below the million infected on the list—but it was enough to validate his strategy.
The mutants spreading from the high-ups were the most menacing; the other threat lay in the Military routes.
Based on current simulations, if the apocalypse was measured in percentages, wiping out these infected could reduce the progression by seven or eight points.
On the tracking screens, Lin Rui and his team had completed their extermination plan and were now being hunted down by Ming Luo’s squad.
Casually dismissing the panicked queries of the President and the others, Yenir silently watched the inferno rising onscreen.
Perhaps the battle had ignited the ammunition depot, for as a massive flame soared skyward, a system notification rang out.
“Beep! Mission accomplished!”
“Current scenario progress has been updated!”
“Original scenario main character Lin Rui: Change value 39%!”
“Original scenario main task Krock (severely injured): Change value 73.2%!”
“Original hidden infected count decreased by 3.17%! Change value 13%!”
…
“Calculating…”
“Total scenario change: 21.9%! Seizing the highest scenario authority!”
