Chapter Index

You’re still bringing people with you?

Standing motionless, Fang Teng glared coldly at Yenir as he disembarked, instantly noticing the squad members behind him.

All Third-Stage Awakeners, all clad in the same combat uniforms.

Recalling that he had heard Yenir was on some sort of mission before, he realized these Third-Stages were likely Yenir’s teammates.

However, he had no clue what kind of instance Yenir had joined, nor was he aware of the circulating rumors among the higher-ups.

Is his mission over already, and now he’s coming to hassle me?

Hah, this punk is clearly here to defy me!

Unlike Fang Teng’s blatant hostility, the three committee members greeted him with smiling faces:

    “Yenir, long time no see.”

“I heard you were sent on a mission by the Military. Didn’t expect you to return so soon.”

“So, how did it go? Everything all right?”

The three, as cunning as foxes, maintained a facade of cordiality despite their obvious discontent with Yenir.

Seeing the bloodstains on Yenir’s combat uniform, the lead man, Zhang Kun, his eyes shifting thoughtfully, gave a slight nod.

“This mission must have been really tough, huh?”

“Need a break? How about we take the edge off with a drink together?”

Polite banter aside, Zhang Kun didn’t notice the odd glimmer in his squad members’ eyes as soon as his words left his mouth.

“Captain, it seems they still don’t know about our situation…”

From behind Ming Luo, one squad member murmured quietly, his eyes darting between Yenir and Fang Teng.

Even he could tell that Yenir’s arrival seemed to displease this middle-aged man.

    “That’s perfectly normal.”

“We just set out; the Capital only recently caught wind of our situation. The higher-ups there might know sooner, while the others won’t learn it so quickly.”

Noticing that the medals on the three were all of the committee, even Ming Luo grew a bit reserved.

    “That won’t be necessary.”

“Representative Fang, you and the three delegates know why I’m here, I’m sure you’ve guessed it.”

“No more small talk—I’m demanding a re-investigation now!”

Without any pleasantries, Yenir fixed his gaze, bypassing the three, and stared directly at Fang Teng.

    Time was running out!

With only four to six days before the disaster erupts, he didn’t have time for idle chatter!

Instead of dancing around with politeness, he preferred to get straight to the point!

More than that, he was worried that the disaster might come sooner than expected, leaving him no time to evacuate everyone.

He needed to secure direct evidence as quickly as possible, then…

Seeing that Yenir completely ignored them, the three committee representatives’ faces turned grim. Although they had heard of Yenir’s arrogant reputation and even seen it firsthand in meetings, when it was directed at them, they were immediately irked!

    What an insolent brat!

Does he really think he’s somebody? Who would pay any mind to you?

They had planned to exchange a few pleasantries with Yenir, share a meal, and then assure him that there was nothing wrong on their end.

Investigation? That’s out of the question—this is just another notch to drag Yenir down a level!

But such arrogance—charging straight in demanding a re-investigation!? Does he think they’re nothing but air? Trash!?

With that thought, the three suppressed their anger and coldly replied:

“Yenir, we have already looked into the East Sea Safe Zone issue.”

“Every anomaly has been cross-checked. There’s nothing wrong!”

“The results have been submitted to the Capital. You can verify it yourself later!”

    “Exactly, Yenir!”

“I suggest you leave now or back down! You wouldn’t want everyone to lose face, would you?”

The conversation escalated as the three spoke over one another in anger.

If Yenir had pleaded with them, they might have quietly let him run his investigation by handing over some documents to save face.

But now?! Yenir’s tone clearly aimed to overturn all their findings!

Seeing Yenir behave so foolishly, he had outright offended the three representatives.

Standing in the background, Fang Teng couldn’t help but snicker inwardly.

    Idiot!

Does he really think he’s so powerful? Who’s going to listen to you?

Fang Teng arrogantly scanned the surroundings and sneered:

    “Yenir!”

“Do you really think this is still a meeting? What gives you the right to conduct an investigation?”

“Listen up! This is the East Sea Safe Zone. As the commander and military committee member, I have every reason to suspect you’re stirring up trouble!”

“Under Article 27, Clause 33 of the Military Regulations, anyone who trespasses into a military stronghold to probe secrets is subject to immediate execution!”

    With a sweeping gesture,

hundreds of Awakeners, already deployed by Fang Teng earlier, immediately stepped forward, their expressions blank as they locked their skills onto Yenir.

In an instant, the atmosphere turned deadly!

At the same time, Ming Luo and the others were shocked—they had never imagined Yenir’s relationship with the opposition would be so hostile!

Instinctively, the squad members also drew their weapons, fiercely forming a protective ring around Yenir.

Watching his troops tense up around him,

Fang Teng felt a surge of satisfaction!

“This is my turf. What do you plan to do, Yenir? Investigate further? If you dare provoke the Military, I have a thousand excuses to take you down!”

However, contrary to Fang Teng’s expectations, Yenir remained calm without a hint of panic, his head bowed ever so slightly.

    The next second,

Yenir, completely surrounded, pushed aside Ming Luo and the others and strode directly toward Fang Teng.

    “Right?”

    “You asking about my right?”

He let out a light laugh.

Yenir’s smile vanished as he cast a look of utter contempt at Fang Teng, as if he were a ridiculous joke.

Ignoring everything, ignoring Fang Teng’s threats,

he flashed a burst of white light from his hand, producing a silver badge.

“What are you, a mutt?! How dare you obstruct me?!”

    Smack!

A crisp metallic impact sounded as the badge struck Fang Teng’s face.

Without a second thought, Yenir slammed the silver badge onto Fang Teng’s face and said coldly:

“You worthless piece of trash—did you forget I have A-Level clearance?”

“According to regulations, I have the right to enter any A-Level zone within Huaguo!”

    “What are you? A joke?”

“I can even access Central Command!”

With that, Yenir sneered and charged into the circle of soldiers as if he owned the place!

He waved his hand to issue an order:

    “Ming Luo! Search everywhere!”

“I want all documents in my hands within three hours!”

As soon as he finished speaking, Fang Teng’s face drained of color where the badge had hit, his anger twisting his features like a frantic monkey.

    “You!! You!!”

Trembling with rage, he glared at Yenir, who was nonchalantly heading toward the Command Center, utterly ignoring him. He felt as if he were about to go insane with anger!

    So arrogant! Utterly arrogant!

He had never encountered someone so overbearing in his life! It wasn’t just an insult—it was like having someone defecate on his head!

Yet, staring at the token that had fallen to the ground, he found himself utterly speechless.

    Damn it, damn it!!!

He had even forgotten that this punk’s A-Level privilege was granted personally by Li Xuanguo!

Meanwhile, the three committee representatives stared dumbfounded at Yenir, who was issuing orders like a bandit. They were left utterly speechless.

Damn, they had seen plenty of spoiled brats, but someone as cocky as Yenir was a first!

Just look at Fang Teng’s expression—as if he were about to devour Yenir whole!

    “This is too much bullying!”

“Yenir, I’m going to report this! Even if you have clearance, if you lead a search, you need proper approval! You…”

    “What did you say?”

“You stupid moron—so what if I insult you?”

    Without looking back,

    “Bang!”

In front of the shocked gazes of hundreds of soldiers, Yenir violently kicked open the Command Center and, with a contemptuous glance back at Fang Teng, flipped him off.

    “Approval?!”

“You idiot! Check your private messages—you’ve got something coming in!”

Before Fang Teng could retort, his anger halted as he heard a notification. Reluctantly, he turned to look at the suddenly illuminated private messages.

Within a second, his mouth dropped open in horror, as if he were witnessing a ghost.

In the message list, there it was: an urgent authorization from the Capital Military.

It clearly stated that he must cooperate with Yenir’s investigation and ensure Yenir’s safety!

    Unbelievable.

    Stunned in place,

Fang Teng could hardly believe the sudden top-down order. For a moment, it felt like the whole world had gone mad!

    Why!?

Why would the Capital agree to this? What on earth is happening!?
