Chapter Index

    He spun around sharply.

Wang Shouren stared silently at the military officer so low-ranked that his mere gaze weighed on him with immense pressure.

After a brief pause, a light laugh escaped him, a trace of scorn in his eyes:

    “So?”

“Did you actually believe it? Or is there someone else you want to believe?”

“Category A disaster? A sea beast attack?”

Swallowing hard, the junior officer, who had just spoken, trembled in his seat as if gathering every ounce of courage, nodding hesitantly.

    “General… General Wang…”

“The satellite map shows that Yenir is indeed redeploying forces toward the frontline. He clearly believes that the East Sea is on the verge of a beast tide.”

“And those two fighter jets—they’re heading deep into the East Sea. It looks like he even knows the direction from which the beast tide will strike.”

“Based on this information, I have reason to…”

His voice dwindled to a murmur.

The junior officer could only force himself to continue amid the heavy, scrutinizing stares of the high command in the meeting room.

“We have reason to believe… maybe Yenir really discovered something…”

“A sea beast attack could very well occur within the next one to three hours… otherwise, he wouldn’t be in such a hurry…”

    His voice abruptly fell silent.

Feeling the increasingly eerie and oppressive atmosphere as dozens of Third-Stage auras pressed down on him, the junior officer felt as if he were bearing the weight of a hundred thousand mountains.

Instinctively, a flash of panic surged through him.

    It’s over.

No one dared mention it—why had he been so careless to speak out?

He wasn’t even sure if his suspicions were correct; yet he felt as though he had, in that moment, transcended time and space, reading Yenir’s true intentions right off the satellite images.

After a moment of dead silence, Wang Shouren let out a low, amused chuckle, as if he had heard the greatest joke:

    “Judgment?”

    “You found something?”

Placing his hands on the table, he looked down at the trembling junior officer, enunciating deliberately:

“Three committee members! A commander who has guarded the East Sea for fourteen years! Thirty-three senior researchers! Over six hundred disaster warning personnel!”

“Not one person in the entire East Sea thought there would be any problems!”

    “What?!”

“In less than an hour, Yenir can overturn all our conclusions! He can actually discover something?!”

“Do you think he’s a fortune teller?!”

“Are you trying to say the East Sea is full of idiots?! Or that our Military is a bunch of morons who can’t even grasp a simple judgment?!”

    Saliva spattered on his face.

The junior officer shook his head frantically, waving his hands in a desperate attempt to explain.

Before he could utter another word, Wang Shouren furiously pointed at the satellite photos hanging on the wall:

    “Enough!”

“I’ll take it that Yenir really discovered something abnormal! Then why didn’t he report it to the Military? If he has evidence—if he can convince me—will the Military disregard him?!”

“Every disaster is preceded by omens! Sea beast attacks would have all the creatures converging at least three days in advance!”

“And what about the monsters?! Those beasts?!”

“Do you expect them to sprout wings and fly in? Or to come storming over and kill us directly?!”

“In three days, our Military would have outdone him in every way!”

He jabbed his finger at several maps of the sea regions.

At first, the Military had considered the possibility that Yenir might have discovered something. But his personality wouldn’t allow him to waste time—so they urgently commissioned military satellites to capture coastal images.

That was the Military’s generous act of “tolerance” toward Yenir.

    Yet, the results were glaring.

There was no sign of any anomaly!

It was crystal clear from the satellite images that within three hundred nautical miles, nothing was amiss!

Thus, in the Military’s judgment, Yenir’s actions could not possibly be aimed at preventing a sea beast attack!

“That’s right. We have no need to discuss the possibility of a sea beast attack any further.”

In the brief quiet of the meeting room, a calm voice suddenly broke through:

    “This incident is simply impossible.”

“I believe it’s far more likely that Yenir clashed with Fang Teng—feeling that his face had been sullied.”

“Given Yenir’s character, once he proposed an evacuation in the conference, he naturally had enough reason to steadfastly stick to his own judgment!”

Seated at the conference table, an officer wearing glasses spoke up coolly, attempting to put an end to this absurd theory.

He let out a soft sigh, his fingers tapping on the documents laid out on the table:

“You may not know this, but Yenir had clashed with Committee Member Fang Teng even before. Three days prior to the conference, he had ordered Liang Lie to assault Fang Teng’s wife.”

“It wasn’t the kind of incident that could be easily publicized, and Fang Teng himself, putting the bigger picture first, swallowed the humiliation without a word.”

“But later, Yenir still wasn’t satisfied and chose to continue his revenge against Committee Member Fang Teng.”

“We have reason to suspect that Yenir’s initial claim of a sea beast disaster was entirely fabricated on the spot, solely to embarrass Committee Member Fang Teng.”

    “Next…”

As every eye in the room turned toward him, many reflecting grave understanding,

The officer paused briefly, then forced a wry smile as he continued:

“Perhaps we trusted Yenir too much, or maybe it’s that the Prime Minister and others value talent too highly. Our own investigation into his proposal has only emboldened him to continue his antics, making him believe that he stumbled upon a stroke of genius by accident!”

“According to our psychological experts, Yenir is likely suffering from a paranoid mindset. His thoughts have become unhinged.”

“After emerging from the simulation, the immense pressure combined with his previous ‘accomplishment’ led him to believe every judgment he made was flawless. This pathological arrogance drove him straight to the East Sea, desperate to prove himself right.”

“When confronted with the realization that his judgments were entirely off, he simply couldn’t face his mistake. His state of mind twisted further—he’d rather destroy the East Sea than admit he was wrong!”

“And that’s how things escalated to this point…”

After a long sigh filled with a hint of regret,

“By stopping him now, we’re actually saving him. I believe once Yenir cools down, he’ll recognize just how ludicrous his actions were…”

A string of analyses left everyone momentarily stunned before a glimmer of realization shone in their eyes.

    It made perfect sense.

After all, it’s logical that a super genius who rose to fame early, with unparalleled talent, would never accept the idea of making mistakes.

Yenir had always been prideful and ostentatious.

When one’s mind isn’t right, actions like these are inevitable. After all, an eighteen-year-old acted on impulse—naturally, it backfired.

    “I agree,” someone remarked.

“In my opinion, once this is contained, we should strip Yenir of his authority.”

“Giving A-level privileges to someone like him is far too dangerous.”

“Indeed, look at the mess the East Sea has become! Yenir spread false information, plunging the entire Huaxia Battle Zone into chaos! The economic losses alone likely exceed ten billion!”

“Absolutely. The East Sea will suffer tremendously from this. The public is gullible! They were fooled once when the predicted disaster never came—and if it truly happens next time, nobody will dare to flee. That would deal a major blow to the credibility of the Authorities!”

“Sigh, poor Commander Fang Teng. How did he end up caught in all this…”

    ……

The meeting adjourned; a consensus had been reached.

Yet during those twenty minutes, every senior leader nursed their own grievances. If this matter were resolved properly, perhaps those simmering frustrations could be eased a bit.

They could scarcely imagine the magnitude of what might unfold if things escalated further.

In the corridor, an officer with transparent-framed glasses nodded subtly toward Lu Tianming, who had been waiting.

“Job well done. When that kid returns, even if he doesn’t die, he’s going to get his hide peeled.”

A broad smile broke across his face.

Lu Tianming patted his companion’s shoulder with satisfaction. All his earlier worries vanished, replaced by a refreshing sense of relief.

“He won’t really die. The high command isn’t willing to let him perish.”

“But I never imagined this kid could be so foolish—turning himself into a complete joke.”

    “Sea beasts? Disasters?”

After a derisive laugh, Lu Tianming casually opened a private message from Wang Chu, ready to share the good news:

“Wang Chu, don’t worry about it. You won’t need to patch up any loopholes anymore.”

“That kid has sealed his own fate. Even if he returns to the Capital now, he won’t be able to give us any more trouble.”

    Feeling elated,

It was no wonder he was so pleased.

Just a few hours ago, he had fretted over the possibility of Yenir exacting revenge on them. After all, that idiot Wang Chu had taken so many things—three or four days had passed and he still hadn’t recovered what was initially looted! And on top of that, the girl in the Hospital wouldn’t budge an inch!

    But now, everything was different.

Yenir had crossed a major line, igniting the wrath of the senior leadership. With his erratic mind and twisted mentality, let’s see who among them still dares to protect him!

    A lunatic! An idiot!

No matter how brilliant his potential, he would be despised by everyone! Not to mention, the Military already felt threatened!

    …….

In the Prime Minister’s Office, by the floor-to-ceiling window,

Li Xuanguo watched silently at the Military’s request to cancel Yenir’s status as Guardian. After a moment’s silence, hesitation flickered in his eyes.

He had learned of the entire incident twenty minutes ago.

He never expected that the very scenario he had feared would actually occur… and even more severely than imagined.

    “Yenir…”

    He sighed deeply.

Li Xuanguo slowly closed his eyes. After a brief moment, a feeling of loss—or rather, disappointment—crossed his mind.

After much deliberation, he ultimately rejected the Military’s request.

He sent out a brief, considered order as if weighing his words carefully:

“No matter what, let him live…”

“Let Liang Lie continue to protect him.”
