Chapter Index

    “Yenir!?”

“Where is Yenir?! Where are his people?!”

Panting heavily like a charging bull.

The deputy director from the Data Simulation Lab burst out, disregarding his appearance as he grabbed a researcher in the corridor and demanded, “Where is he?”

He was mistaken—their entire line of thought was off!

After years of grueling experiments, he finally realized that Yenir’s proposed structure was genuinely useful. Now, it felt like facing a naked tiger shamelessly gyrating before him.

    How ‘tempting’—so exhilarating!

In comparison, their previous designs looked utterly worthless!

What hurt the most was that Yenir’s blueprint didn’t specify what materials were needed!

To him, it was like having sex without protection!

Why not just list them? Why hold back? Let me enjoy this first!

If Yenir could produce such a design, he must know how to build it!

He longed to charge at Yenir and demand the answer immediately, completely forgetting his earlier doubts about Yenir ‘stealing’ their design.

    “Over there?.. Section C!?”

The researcher, who had been grabbed, stared in shock and gulped. Seeing Deputy Director Zhang’s uncharacteristic excitement, he found it impossible to reconcile the usually rigid, indifferent man with the one now before him.

Yenir? What would we need him for? Isn’t he the troublemaker who comes to steal our work?

Ignoring the astonished looks from the corridor staff, Deputy Director Zhang, having pinpointed Yenir’s location, dashed off as if his legs were on fire.

Poor fellow—despite his age and the power of only a First-Stage Awakener, he managed to leave a fleeting trail as he ran.

Others in the lab quickly followed suit, sprinting straight toward Yenir’s location.

In a flash, the group vanished at the end of the corridor.

    “What’s this!?”

Everyone turned to watch the departing ‘army.’

They couldn’t shake the feeling that something monumental was about to happen.

Before anyone could ask, a young man with the surname Li, emerging last from the lab, began mumbling in a daze, as if confronted with an unbearable truth.

    “Impossible… It just can’t be…”

“My theory can’t be wrong… Not all our ideas could be mistaken…!?”

Clutching the design blueprint Yenir had drawn, he looked utterly devastated, his lips trembling.

It was no wonder he was in such a state.

As one of Deputy Director Zhang’s proud prodigies, he had poured countless hours into crafting the original structure—at least half of it was his own work.

After dissecting shattered vertebrae and studying countless battle records of monsters, he finally uncovered a simulation method.

That was why Yenir got so animated when it came to vertebrae.

    However…

The blow came so fast he barely had time to react.

Overwhelmed with emotion, he even felt on the verge of tears.

Anyone would be devastated if their most prized research was discarded as trash.

Especially when the blow came from a barely-eighteen-year-old with no formal systematic training.

It left him questioning his very existence.

    …………….

    “Thump, thump! Thump, thump!”

Rapid footsteps echoed, and following a screeching skid, Deputy Director Zhang—his uniform disheveled—slammed the door shut and fixed his bloodshot eyes on Yenir standing in the Hall.

Without pausing to wonder why Yenir was in the equipment hall, he charged forward like an old woman who had long awaited sweet relief.

“You know how to build that design, don’t you?!”

    “Quick! Tell me now!!”

His tone bordered on reckless, even frenzied.

As the deputy director bombarded Yenir with questions and researchers stared at him with intense, eager eyes, Yenir’s attendant was left utterly stunned.

What the heck!? Could it be that Yenir’s words were true!?

Turning around, Yenir met the bloodshot stares of the crowd with calm indifference and said:

    “Yes.”

    “So what?”

His voice remained as calm as if nothing were amiss.

With Yenir’s confirmation, a Middle-Aged Man trailing behind Deputy Director Zhang became even more agitated.

    “What do you mean?!”

“Tell us exactly how to do it! You must know what comes next, right?!”

“How did you know? Do you realize what breakthrough this technology will bring once it’s realized?!”

He was so fired up that his words tumbled out incoherently.

At that moment, everyone fixed their gaze on Yenir; the more impatient among them practically wanted to pry his mouth open.

In their eyes, how could Yenir be so unflappable?

Meeting the intense, almost pleading stares, Yenir simply smiled, extended his hand, and spread it out in front of Deputy Director Zhang.

    “I said, hand it over.”

“Well? The data must be accurate, right?”

“If everything checks out, give me the vertebrae first. I’m in a good mood—maybe I’ll hand over the rest.”

Noticing that the others were so excited they’d forgotten exactly what he needed.

Yenir reiterated his demand without delay.

You think you can get something for free without giving me what I need? What a joke—I don’t have time for this.

    His expression fell.

Deputy Director Zhang, fixed on Yenir, suddenly paused, remembering the true purpose behind Yenir’s visit.

Instinctively, he hesitated for a moment.

Was the crucial material the one Yenir mentioned?

If it had been offered before, he would have never agreed.

    But now…

A nearly perfect data blueprint flashed through his mind, and after a brief pause, he took a deep breath and ordered his subordinate:

    “Go retrieve it!”

    “Now! Immediately! Right away!”

As his words faded, he stared nervously at Yenir, hoping the young man truly held complete documents!

    A few minutes later.

    “Director! The item is here!”

    The researcher raced in.

Clutching a rectangular metal box, he hurried over.

Upon opening it, a pallid, metallic vertebra was revealed before everyone’s eyes.

Taking a deep breath, Director Zhang, regaining his composure, cradled the vertebra with reluctant care before handing it over to Yenir.

“Committee Member Yenir! The documents in your possession are vital to us.”

“Exchange these materials for the documents you hold—just don’t deceive us!”

As his words faded, Yenir smiled and took the items. With a soft laugh, he said:

    “You’ve got it wrong.”

“This isn’t an exchange—this item has always been mine.”

“It’s completely useless to you anyway.”

Before the astonished researchers could respond, Yenir wasted no time. With a flash of white light from his ring, a thick set of documents materialized in his hand.

These documents, prepared in advance, outlined the overall idea and data—once the recipients saw them, they’d know exactly what to do.

At the same moment Yenir took the vertebra in one hand and handed over the documents with the other, a long-dormant system prompt echoed twice.

“Beep. System Upgrade Material Acquired: Shattered Vertebra.”

    “Current Task Progress: 50%.”

“Missing Materials: Core of the Otherworldly Ghost x1, Human-Faced Falcon Bone Liquid x1. Please procure them as soon as possible.”

“Beep. Special Task: A-Level Sea Beast [Mother] Completed.”

    “Calculating rewards…”

    Hmm!?

    He raised an eyebrow.

Yenir looked at the newly appeared system prompt in surprise.

He hadn’t expected the East Sea survivors’ evacuation mission to wrap up at this very moment.

    Chapter Summary

Deputy Director Zhang and lab staff scramble after Yenir when his revolutionary design blueprint upends their plans.
