Chapter Index

Inside the gently rocking fighter jet, seated next to Yenir, Blood Nightingale tensed and asked in a low voice:

“I’ve managed to get some details on Yinglong. In fact, I’ve been piecing some of it together for a while.”

“So you want me to ask which instance he’s heading for? Then follow him in?”

“Aren’t you worried I’ll just tell him you coerced me?”

In wavering uncertainty, Blood Nightingale forced down her unease and stared fixedly at Yenir by her side.

According to Yenir’s plan, she needed an excuse to sneak into the instance with Yinglong and act as an insider. Once the instance was over, Yenir would let her off the hook, and their promise would be sealed by a system contract!

Though Yenir left his true intentions unsaid, it was clear the bastard would join the instance—and he wouldn’t hesitate to make a move!

“What’s the difference between that and asking for death?”

    “But it’s… Yinglong!”

Such a crazy move was utterly beyond her comprehension.

“Exactly. Once you’re in, just report on the movements of Yinglong and the others. You won’t have to do anything more.”

“Don’t worry—I’ll include a clause in the contract that guarantees I’ll never reveal you as an insider, whether I’m alive or dead.”

Calmly, Yenir turned to Blood Nightingale and idly twirled the ring on his finger.

Its icy sensation belied the restlessness in his heart.

During the quiet moments of flight, he had reviewed almost all the information on Far Frontier and Yinglong. Now, only the specifics of the instance and Yinglong’s precise abilities remained a mystery.

After running through his plan repeatedly, Yenir reluctantly realized that his only hope of extracting material from Yinglong was to join him in the instance.

At least there, he could leverage the mechanics of the instance—or something else—to outsmart him.

In the real world, even just one Bloodshadow Legion would render him powerless… after all, half of Far Frontier was under the Legion’s control. Any misstep would be a huge risk.

Moreover, after comparing the gathered data with his own memories, Yenir was about eighty percent sure that this instance was designed to yield a Legendary Suit.

Simply because records show that Yinglong hadn’t stepped into an instance for over ten years.

With his Peak Third-Stage prowess and leadership, Yinglong would only get involved for enormous gains. That meant Yinglong knew far more about this instance than Yenir did!

In silence, Blood Nightingale stared hard at his face for a long moment before speaking again:

    “You’re courting death—I won’t stop you.”

“But do you really believe I won’t betray you? Forget the contract. If I secure a higher-grade unlock item from Yinglong, it could wipe away any punishment.”

There was no hint of hesitation in her tone.

Both understood full well that neither was a fool. Blood Nightingale made no effort to hide that if given the chance, she’d betray Yenir without remorse.

Their collaboration was born of coercion. If Yenir ever allowed her to escape Liang Lie’s grip, she would not hesitate to kill him! Sure, there was the contract and that invaluable unlock item traded for reputation, but even a Peak Third-Stage like Yinglong would have a few more tricks up his sleeve!

What’s more, the system contract item Yenir had exchanged wasn’t even of a high level. It might restrict an ordinary Peak Third-Stage, but it would never hold Yinglong back!

And that was exactly why she wondered where Yenir’s confidence came from.

One was a Peak Third-Stage, and the other was her enemy. Blood Nightingale wouldn’t team up with that bastard unless she was utterly desperate.

Noticing Blood Nightingale’s extreme vigilance, Yenir merely smiled, feigning indifference.

He knew his way of coercing her was clumsy and nearly useless—if she ever got away from Uncle Liang’s lethal grasp, she’d bolt. By using her as his insider, he was essentially letting her go.

But he was determined he could win her over.

From the very beginning, he hadn’t intended to force her with threats.

Only an irresistible offer—a benefit she couldn’t refuse—could convince her to ride in the same battle wagon as him.

For now, though, he didn’t need to spell out every detail.

He just had to be sure his plan was sound and feasible…

“I trust your wits enough that when you see Yinglong, you won’t turn traitor.”

“Besides, undoing the contract would cost a Peak Third-Stage dearly. If you let Yinglong come to your rescue, it’s not much different from ending up in my grasp.”

“He paid a steep price to save you—what do you think you have to pay?”

Yenir stated bluntly, unbothered by the suddenly cold glance from the little girl.

He was well aware that Blood Nightingale would only turn to Yinglong when she had no other choice, risking her own downfall. The contract scroll that cost him 700 reputation points would force Yinglong to cough up three to four times as much to break it if he even tried to force the details out of her.

Reputation was expensive—Yenir wasn’t about to waste it, even if it meant passing up trial rewards.

To put it bluntly, Yinglong’s threats were worth nothing in his eyes; even if he knew, he wouldn’t give a damn.

Surely, Blood Nightingale understood that all too well.

    And besides…

Yenir gave the suddenly pensive girl a half-smile and shook his head.

He planned to win her over before entering the instance, ensuring she’d work for him. The benefits he offered were enough to make the Blood Wolf Leader reconsider any plans to kill him.

Sensing Yenir’s odd gaze, Blood Nightingale lifted her head and looked at him suspiciously, mistakenly thinking his smile was meant to ogle her.

This time, to get close to Yinglong, she had meticulously dressed up—more stunning and alluring than ever, with an almost mesmerizing charm.

Maybe because she had nothing to hide before Yenir, Blood Nightingale scoffed:

“If you can outmaneuver Yinglong, I wouldn’t mind letting you sleep with me once.”

“I’ve always admired strength above all else.”

Her tone was provocatively challenging as she glared at him.

Yet as her words faded, Yenir only offered a thin smile, too uninterested to engage with her bait.

He knew the woman feared he might back out as soon as he met Yinglong. That bitch would rather see him clash with Yinglong—preferably to his untimely end.

After his smile, Yenir looked at the girl with playful amusement, then pulled Blood Nightingale back onto his lap:

“Miss Blood Nightingale, you always seem so eager to get under my skin…”

“Are you really that desperate for my body?”

    “Hmm…”

A cry—whether genuine pleasure or startled reaction—escaped her as she shivered. She felt the bastard’s right hand expertly slip beneath her red skirt and grasp her without restraint.

Perhaps out of habit, after a momentary freeze, a strange glint flashed in her eyes. Instead of resisting, she cooperated, clinging tightly to Yenir as her red lips, heavy with desire, whispered in his ear:

    “I’m just afraid you’ll…”

    “never let me die…”
