Chapter 410: Tensions in the Restroom
by xennovelThe lights were blinding.
Yenir silently stood behind the Little Girl, watching as Blood Nightingale seemingly produced a hairband out of nowhere and skillfully tied her hair into a ponytail.
Facing a spotless mirror, the Little Girl casually fixed her makeup, completely oblivious to anyone around.
She re-applied some smudged lipstick, making her look vividly enticing.
“Are you sure you want to say that here? This is the men’s room.”
With a slight furrow of his brow, Yenir looked at the retreating figure of Blood Nightingale, puzzled, and slowly stepped closer.
Although the room was quiet—far removed from the clamor of the banquet hall—the clean, smooth marble floor faintly reflected their images. Staying here wasn’t unbearable, but conversing in this setting felt odd.
“What are you afraid of? No one ever comes here.”
“What, you still want to go to the women’s room?”
She laughed softly, as if oblivious to the edge in Yenir’s tone. With playful feigned surprise, Blood Nightingale turned and replied flirtatiously.
“It’s fine—you can have your fun. With a face like yours, who knows? You might even end up with another girl along the way…”
Ignoring her teasing, Yenir’s brow furrowed even deeper as he simply repeated his question:
“What about the news on Yinglong?”
“You knew all along which instance Yinglong was entering, didn’t you?”
After finishing the last touch of her makeup, Blood Nightingale nonchalantly turned to him with a smile but didn’t answer. Instead, she headed straight for a stall in the restroom and leaned against the wall languidly.
“What’s the matter? Can’t wait?”
“But are you really planning to say it out here?”
No sooner had she finished her sentence than she casually opened the white partition door, motioning for Yenir to follow her.
Standing still, Yenir’s eyes flashed coldly as he took in her bold move.
This woman seems to have grown addicted to playing games.
Besides, there was nothing here to hold him back.
……………
Bang!
After forcefully slamming the stall door shut, the cramped space was suddenly filled with a vague, tense atmosphere.
Before Blood Nightingale could speak, Yenir swiftly produced the Elemental Blade from his Ring and pressed its hilt against her neck.
The cold steel immediately shocked Blood Nightingale into stillness.
“My patience is running thin.”
“Do you think this is a game?”
With his gaze icy, Yenir discarded his earlier submissive demeanor after one provocation after another.
Smart as she was, ever since she realized he was desperate for information, Blood Nightingale had begun testing him, trying to wrest control.
That was absolutely unacceptable to Yenir!
No matter what tricks she pulled, his time was running short. The sooner he got Yinglong’s intelligence, the better his next move would be.
In an instant, the chilling intent to kill made Blood Nightingale realize that without Yinglong’s threat, Yenir was still the same as ever.
Earlier, he’d held back because of Yinglong’s threat; without him present, Yenir wouldn’t have restrained himself at all.
A peculiar glimmer passed through her eyes as Blood Nightingale, seemingly resigned, sighed and finally spoke:
“Alright, I’ve known all along which instance Yinglong will enter. I’ve also gathered some details on his abilities.”
“The instance is located at the frontline of Safe Zone No. 3 in the Bloodshadow Legion—a ruin from an old city. It’s roughly 370 kilometers from here.”
“It’s slated for tomorrow afternoon, under an air raid shelter in a suburban high-rise.”
“The instance emerged only about two months ago when triggered by the Bloodshadow Legion’s supply squad. It’s a large-scale instance, but I haven’t figured out all the details yet. One thing is certain: Yinglong will bring many people inside.”
“This information is hardly known; I barely managed to get my hands on it.”
As Yenir absorbed the intel provided by Blood Nightingale, his mind raced, and the murderous intent within him softened slightly.
A ruined city? A large group? And just discovered?
That meant he had to enter without drawing Yinglong’s attention; otherwise, knowing his nature, Yinglong would likely clear the area beforehand.
So, he had to arrive early nearby and slip in the moment Yinglong entered…
Just as Yenir pondered his strategy, Blood Nightingale suddenly fell silent, and her slender fingers gripped the sword blade at her neck:
“I’ve already told you everything. What’s the matter? Are you just going to stand there and listen?”
Momentarily startled, Yenir looked into Blood Nightingale’s sorrowful eyes and, after a brief hesitation, slowly lowered his Longsword.
“Cooperate, and I won’t make things difficult for you.”
“But you…”
Before he could finish, Blood Nightingale abruptly shoved him, sending him crashing onto the toilet; in the next moment, she straddled him.
“Hey, my feet are killing me! Don’t you have any concern for me?”
“Help me massage them, and I’ll tell you Yinglong’s secret.”
To Yenir’s surprise, Blood Nightingale seemed to forget about the blade at her neck, acting as if they were lovers, feigning a coy sweetness.
She flicked off her high heels with a graceful kick, leaving her bare feet trembling slightly.
“I’m really not used to wearing these shoes…they might look good, but they’re a nightmare.”
As if complaining about something, she then pressed herself against Yenir like a koala clinging tightly.
Feeling the soft warmth and the undeniably seductive scene before him, Yenir remained unmoved, his caution deepening.
Is she really pulling this stunt again?
“What exactly are you trying to do?”
He retorted sharply, ignoring the seemingly sorrowful look in Blood Nightingale’s eyes, his expression stone-cold and his brow even more furrowed.
At the banquet, her teasing had been a calculated provocation, but now, this bizarre behavior was utterly pointless.
He wasn’t about to believe that this crazy woman intended to get intimate with him.
Nor did he think Blood Nightingale was foolish enough to assume that Yenir would yield to her charms.
Looking up, as their eyes locked, Blood Nightingale found herself speechless in the face of Yenir’s unyielding gaze.
It was hard to tell what emotions she was feeling.
Frustration, bitterness, and perhaps other hidden reasons.
“I just find it hard to believe that you really feel nothing at all.”
“And besides…”
“I don’t want us to die together.”
As she spoke, Blood Nightingale gently bit her lip and slowly untied the ribbon from her shoulder. In an instant, a swath of porcelain skin was completely exposed before Yenir.
“Except for the final act, you can do whatever you want.”
“After it’s over, let’s pretend none of this happened…”
