    Li Meng!!

Brothers, fight with everything you’ve got against these monsters!!

    Bang!!!

In one sweeping strike, the eleventh awakened Giant Otherworldly Ghost, enduring a barrage of attacks, used its withered, scythe-like arm to swiftly sever a Ghost Hunter’s upper body at the waist.

Compared to the Third-Stage physique, even continuous high-intensity combat had pushed the Ghost Hunter in the team to his limits.

Unable to dodge in time, the man struck by the sweep burst like a balloon with a resounding bang—his entire upper body reduced to mush, leaving only his legs shattered in place.

Seeing his comrade fall, the strongest Ghost Hunter soldier’s eyes blazed red as he roared and charged forward as though he feared death.

Even Yinglong, stationed at the rear, couldn’t help but be taken aback by the sheer recklessness of the assault.

    That’s just too desperate…

These NPCs could easily be scrapped anyway—their combat power is practically zero, utterly useless.

But ever since the battle began, the Ghost Hunters who brought them in fought against the Otherworldly Ghosts with a blood-feud intensity, throwing themselves into combat regardless of their strength.

By now, only the Third-Stage Mid-level and two Second-Stage fighters remained.

In contrast, among their own, aside from the heavy drain on Spirit Energy, not a single soul had fallen…

“Commander, these NPCs are really giving it their all…”

“If that NPC who promised to strike last fought like this, we’d have it much easier…”

Juggling tasks, Zhang Yuan, who had already joined the fray while about to dispatch the last Ghost Minion, couldn’t help but sigh.

Although these NPCs were mostly ineffective, at least they managed to draw off a significant amount of fire.

“Keep the Third-Stage Mid-level Ghost Hunter alive. We need him for further intel.”

“The Otherworldly Ghost Monarch will awaken any moment. We need him alive to provide information.”

Standing in mid-air, constantly adjusting his state, Yinglong ordered in a deep, measured tone.

He didn’t care how many NPCs perished; in the upcoming battle, only he and Zhang Yuan would form the main force—others might not even qualify to hold the enemy at bay.

Under these circumstances, needless deaths were unacceptable.

    “Understood!”

After the command, Zhang Yuan decided to stop conserving his Spirit Energy and planned to single-handedly take down the last Giant Otherworldly Ghost.

But before he could reach the Ghost Hunter soldier to pull him from combat, the Third-Stage Mid-level Ghost Hunter, as if possessed by madness, suddenly leaped into mid-air and landed right beside the Giant Otherworldly Ghost’s mouth.

“Monster!! I’m taking you on head-to-head…”

    “Snap!”

It was like being served a gourmet meal.

Before his battle cry was even finished, the man was instantly bitten to death—devoured like a mere snack by the final Otherworldly Ghost.

For a moment, all the Third-Stage members of the Bloodshadow Legion were stunned.

    What the hell…

Are these NPCs idiots? They’re practically begging for death!

    It was baffling and infuriating.

In their eyes, the battle was nearing its end. They had managed to sever both legs of the Giant Otherworldly Ghost, leaving it in a pitiful state.

All it took was one more slash from Zhang Yuan, and the creature was done for.

In this situation, despite their heavy losses, even death seemed nearly out of reach.

With the final showdown looming, they couldn’t fathom why the soldier acted as if he were courting death.

At the same time, Yenir, hidden in the distance, paused in disbelief.

He hadn’t expected that these lurking Otherworldly Ghosts, instead of stabbing Yinglong in the back or taking advantage of the chaos, were fighting with such reckless abandon that they were effectively dooming themselves.

None of the anomalies he had anticipated occurred.

    “Could I have been mistaken!?”

“Everyone’s nearly dead and yet they haven’t attacked… Could these Otherworldly Ghosts actually be ‘good ghosts’!?”

    It was hard to understand.

Yenir fixed his gaze on the last two Ghost Hunters on the battlefield. In his eyes, the remaining two were at their absolute limit, their strength barely at the Second-Stage level.

With that kind of power, even if they survived, they’d soon be in a position to betray Yinglong.

Yinglong stood firm; even these Otherworldly Ghosts couldn’t harm him.

“Not Otherworldly Ghosts? Or was it that only after I arrived were the Otherworldly Ghosts deployed?”

    “Were all my assumptions wrong!?”

In an instant, Yenir felt an overwhelming sense of absurdity and strangeness.

Indeed, it was possible he had misjudged—mistaking these Ghost Hunters for Otherworldly Ghosts and their every move for a staged act.

After all, he had never directly interacted with them; his suspicions stemmed solely from the few Otherworldly Ghosts he’d encountered before.

“If my judgment is wrong… then what on earth is the difficulty level of this dungeon!?”

“Stones are fine? NPCs are fine? And the final difficulty is fine too!?”

    “Am I being overly cautious!?”

With his mind racing, after several seconds Yenir refused to accept that his judgment could be flawed.

    It wasn’t out of arrogance.

Rather, from his near third-person perspective, detached from the unfolding drama, he sensed that the entire dungeon was rife with anomalies.

“There has to be something I haven’t discovered yet! Something’s off… I’m sure of it…”

Deep in thought, Yenir’s eyes suddenly widened.

After that Ghost Hunter fell, a peculiar shade of red—once hidden on the ground—suddenly vanished.

“Is that… blood seeping into the earth?!”

Blood seeping into the ground isn’t unusual.

Though the dead Giant Otherworldly Ghosts resembled desiccated corpses with hardly any blood, over time the temple had become saturated with a thick, pungent scent of blood.

What truly unsettled Yenir was the faint red gleam that flashed momentarily on the altar sphere behind everyone, almost overlooked.

It seemed the seeping blood had migrated into the altar.

“Altar hive? Odd Stone? Otherworldly Ghost blood!?”

Startled by the extremely subtle anomaly, Yenir fixed his gaze on the altar.

If he hadn’t been surveying the entire battlefield, he probably would have missed it entirely!

In the next moment, the Odd Stone he had tossed onto the altar sphere suddenly lit up—as if something had burrowed into it and triggered an activation.

Within seconds, a twisted, nearly transparent phantom emerged from the activated stone.

After emerging, the phantom seemed to lose its target, its almost human form scanning around aimlessly.

Hiding within a stone sarcophagus, Yenir’s heart skipped a beat as an overwhelming, indescribable anxiety flooded over him.

    Damn!!

He finally understood the true difficulty of this dungeon!

    “Blood Nightingale!”

    “Drop the Stone!”
