Chapter Index

    “Exit, exit, exit!”

Beep. Non-combat mode detected. Exit now? Exiting the dungeon now will affect the final settlement…

    “Exit!”

    “Confirmed!!”

The moment he returned to the starting area, Yenir ignored the system prompt and immediately submitted his exit command without a second thought.

Excitement surged within him; he no longer cared that cutting out early might impact the final settlement!

Escape was paramount! With the legendary suit already secured, the remaining rewards were insignificant! Even if the dungeon held more side quests or hidden secrets, nothing else mattered!

After numerous exit confirmations, the system seemed momentarily unresponsive until, a few seconds later, it slowly provided a confirmation.

Beep. Exit confirmed. Entering settlement in three seconds…

    Damn, it’s finally over!

Hearing the confirmation, Yenir let out a relieved sigh, as if a tremendous burden had been lifted.

Enveloped in a white glow, he knew the system was about to transport him to the Settlement Space. In that instant, he was utterly safe.

There was no other choice. If Yinglong caught on and began chasing him, he would have been done for.

If I were Yinglong, I’d be furious.

If you’re not running now while being greedy, you’re just too stupid…

In the final seconds, Yenir casually scanned the 6th Floor of the Dungeon.

It wasn’t until he noticed several patrol teams appearing in the City that he realized the most conspicuous inspection building in the distance was engulfed in flames. The towering fire lit up half the city while countless dungeon survivors scrambled to extinguish it.

Amid the chaos, it was clear that the fire had caused significant damage.

    Huh?

    What’s going on?

Before Yenir could process this, Uncle Liang’s hoarse voice whispered in his ear:

    “I set it off.”

“I timed it. I had it burn down here four hours ago.”

After saying this, Uncle Liang acted as though it were a minor matter, offering no further explanation.

Yenir paused in stunned silence before quickly reacting, giving Uncle Liang a strangely suspicious look.

    “Four hours ago? Timed arson?”

Good grief, this is murder meant to silence witnesses and obliterate evidence…

He hadn’t expected Liang Lie to quietly cover for him. With the plan suddenly changing to rush to the final floor early, he barely had time to deal with that commissioner.

If all went as expected, Chen Fan would have been burned down to nothing.

Excellent… Though crude, the method significantly reduced his risks.

That way, even if Yinglong grew extra cautious and returned to search the floor for any plots against him, he likely wouldn’t uncover a thing.

Gazing at Liang Lie’s profile, Yenir’s eyes gleamed.

It seemed Uncle Liang was far more meticulous than he let on… and ruthless enough, too.

Beep. Entering Settlement Space! Beginning settlement!

Before Yenir could speak, a familiar dizzying sensation overwhelmed him and he appeared in a milky-white Settlement Space.

    ………………….

    Beep….

A barrage of over a dozen system prompts echoed in rapid succession. In the milky-white space, Yenir looked at the flood of reward notifications with a mix of awe and fatigue.

    So… many rewards…

Glancing over them, the rewards were so numerous they almost felt like a chore to check.

“So many rewards. Do I need to organize these for half an hour? This is way too much hassle…”

“What’s the point of drawing? Can’t they just hand it to me directly…”

Muttering casually, Yenir stifled his excitement. Sometimes, the system was just too noisy…

    ……………

    “Blue Equipment Draw?”

“That’s not important. I’ll draw later!”

“Exclusive Equipment – Skull-Crushing Claw? Hmm, not really my weapon type. This thing won’t sell for much… Better set it aside.”

Staring at the heap of items displayed before him, Yenir quickly closed the system panel and tallied his haul.

Examining the Skull-Crushing Claw in his hand, which resembled a flying claw, he casually glanced at it before tossing it into a ring.

The claw had decent attributes and dealt extra damage to Otherworldly Ghosts. Plus, it came with a skill that enabled rapid movement by grabbing onto objects.

For an Agility Type, it was top-tier equipment, but for him, it was merely average…

However, if other Awakeners found out how he treated equipment of this caliber, they’d be green with envy.

    “Otherworldly Ghost Spine Fluid?”

“Is it meant to be used with the Otherworldly Ghost Core?”

“Using it boosts Otherworldly Ghost power… But it seems pretty useless…”

Lifting a test-tube-like item, Yenir frowned as he inspected the cloudy liquid inside.

According to the system, this item could greatly enhance the strength of Otherworldly Ghosts, even proving useful for Third-Stage mid-level challenges. It looked like a combination reward, but the problem was…

He didn’t have the Otherworldly Ghost Core at all…

And even if he did, he had no intention of using it.

Transforming into an Otherworldly Ghost seemed appealing: overall attribute boosts and body fortification, essentially granting an extra talent. Ignoring the side effects, in the outside world many Awakeners would go crazy trying to snatch it.

After all, in the apocalypse, power was everything. To become stronger, killing and even betraying was common. A mere infertility effect was trivial for most survivors.

But for Yenir, whose talent was already formidable, any negative impact on his abilities was unacceptable.

“Maybe next time I’ll enter this dungeon… after acquiring the Core, I can use it to train some Death Knights?”

Lost in thought, Yenir stowed away the Otherworldly Ghost Spine Fluid and decided not to dwell on it.

This dungeon was indeed mysterious; perhaps he would return one day.

For now, he wouldn’t overthink it…

    “Swish”

    A flash of white light.

As an equipment radiating a strange dark green aura materialized in his hand, even after securing the legendary suit component, Yenir couldn’t help but breathe rapidly.

    “Legendary Suit Component: Mind Blast!”

    Chapter Summary

Yenir opts to exit a dungeon early despite knowing it will impact his final settlement because he’s already secured the legendary suit. Amid system prompts and overwhelming rewards, he contemplates the chaotic events outside—a raging fire in the City and Uncle Liang’s shocking revelation of timed arson. With the threat of Yinglong looming and a precarious alliance evident through Liang Lie’s actions, Yenir processes his haul of rewards, including exclusive equipment and rare resources, while pondering potential future strategies.
