Chapter Index

    “Master!?”

    “You summoned me!?”

With a loud thud, Li Dafu tumbled out of the Summoning Space, landing squarely on the ground as he stared at Yenir in utter bewilderment.

Before Li Dafu’s eyes could light up at the sight of the pile of rewards before Yenir, Yenir instantly enveloped him in a burst of radiant light.

    “Do you feel it!?”

    “What’s your current stat value!?”

    He was completely startled.

Clad in his ostentatious Show-off Robe, Li Dafu shuddered as he watched the excited Yenir, truly terrified.

After following Yenir for so long, he’d never seen him this animated.

    “A-at-at… attributes!?”

He repeated the phrase instinctively until, after a few seconds, Li Dafu suddenly widened his eyes in surprise and began touching himself.

“Master! I think I’ve grown stronger!”

“Nineteen points! I actually have nineteen points of power!?”

Lifting his right hand as stiff as a reed, Li Dafu—unaccustomed to such raw power—suddenly leapt up as if struck by a jolt.

    “Just as I thought…”

A glint crossed Yenir’s eyes; ignoring the ecstatic Li Dafu, a chill suddenly ran down his spine.

“Indeed, this aura hides additional information.”

“The weaker the strength, the greater the amplification.”

“I can boost my attributes by 6 points with the Mind Light. Let alone Li Dafu!”

“How many did you add? Twelve points!?”

Suppressing the surge of emotion, Yenir slowly closed his eyes as his mind raced.

Yet what stunned him wasn’t the outrageous boost from the Mind Light—it was something entirely different…

    There was no other explanation.

He could sense that, although activating the Mind Light drained a fair bit of his mental strength, he could sustain it for well over ten minutes. And not only that—the range…

    “Buzz!”

With a swift flick of his hand, the crimson Mind Light, symbolizing power, radiated outward, covering a 20-meter radius.

“This range may seem small, but it can easily accommodate a few dozen people. Stack them up, and hundreds could fit!”

“With the aura’s boost, even a Second-Stage Peak Fighter could nearly attain Third-Stage status! Even without the exclusive Spirit Energy enhancement of Third-Stage, their combat power will skyrocket!”

“Battlefield Divine Skill! Battlefield Divine Skill!”

    “And that’s not all…”

He slowly blinked his eyes open, and no one could guess what was running through his mind.

“Humans can receive amplification—Li Dafu, as my summon, is no exception…”

“What if I capture a swarm of bugs and bind them with a summoning contract? Signing with thousands of these trash mutant insects—wouldn’t that mean carrying thousands of Third-Stage warriors with me!?”

“And their strength would also scale with my enhancements!”

“Even if they were sent out as suicide bugs, they’d still be a force to be reckoned with…”

At that moment, a sudden impulse struck Yenir.

He was tempted to seize a horde of those worthless mutant beasts, binding them under contract to experiment with their potential!

“If there’s a downside, it’s that entering a contract consumes reputation to exchange for system tools. Most Awakeners are reluctant—and often incapable—of capturing ‘pets’…”

“The stronger the creature, the higher the level of the contract…”

Opening the Reputation Shop, Yenir immediately scrolled to the Contract Scroll section.

He recalled having spent an enormous amount of reputation to have Li Dafu serve him; for someone as feeble as Li Dafu, the cost was astronomical.

Therefore, few Awakeners would ever attempt such a thing.

Relying on a weak ‘pet’ might be cost-effective, but its utility would be minimal.

Strong mutant beasts or peculiar creatures typically demand very high-value contracts. Consequently, even though post-apocalyptic societies might have summoner-type Awakeners, such instances are rare.

But with the aura, things change…

“Maybe I could manage to contract with a queen insect or a matriarch beast.”

“These worthless, dog-like mutant beasts might be on par with a Level 0 Awakener. Yet under the Mind Light’s influence, they could skyrocket to First-Stage Peak—or even Second-Stage without a hitch.”

“They wouldn’t be missed if they died… Commanding hundreds or thousands to charge in unison would be an unbeatable trump card!”

Once it clicked, Yenir understood why this two-piece suit had found its way onto the Otherworldly Ghost Monarch.

    This suit’s benefits are tailor-made for a commander—perfect for a monarch!

“The second skill is Mind Lock…”

“Isn’t it really meant for your own kind?”

“Locked into a state of frenzy, and under the aura’s influence, it commands a horde of fearless Otherworldly Ghosts to charge and strike. Combined with physical enhancement and mind control, it basically forms an invincible, fearless army that would never betray you!”

“No wonder he’s the Otherworldly Ghost Monarch…”

At that moment, as Yenir looked at the necklace in his hand, a curious glint flashed in his eyes.

This suit seems to be closely tied to the origins of the Ghost Battlefield—and even linked, in a subtle way, to the catastrophe 27 years ago.

But he simply lacked the energy to investigate further.

“Let’s combine them first and see!”

Brushing aside his lingering doubts, Yenir decisively put on the necklace, a look of eager anticipation on his face.

The power of the suit isn’t in any single piece!

When combined, they reach their peak strength!

Since each piece is incredibly powerful on its own, it’s hard to fathom how potent they’d be together.

    “Buzz!”

Accompanied by a familiar sound, a clear system prompt chimed in Yenir’s ears.

“Ding: Detected activation of the Soul Devourer Suit Component! Initiating suit effect!”

    “Ding: Suit effect activated!”

“Ding: Gained an extra 1000 points of Spirit Energy amplification! Acquired the suit (2/7) effect!”

“Ding: Gained suit-exclusive ability: Undying Legion!”

    “Huh!?”

    “What is this!?”

Yenir gazed in astonishment at the combined ability of the suit, frozen in place for a moment.

He felt as though he’d struck an absurd stroke of luck.

“Undying Legion: Once a target is selected, convert them into an Otherworldly Ghost who will then pledge loyalty to you…”
