Chapter 607: Unforeseen Alliances in the National War
by xennovelLord Yamamoto, since when did the Japanese Battle Zone learn to team up with others?
In a coastal mountain hollow, a Central Asian Awakener from the Arab Joint Battle Zone sneered at the Japanese squad.
Even though it was less than half an hour into the National War, at the desperate pleas from the Japanese Battle Zone, he still agreed to cooperate.
However, he paid little heed to the situation as described by Yamamoto.
“Lord Kusman, I hope you take our cooperation seriously—and especially pay attention to the irregularities in this National War!”
“The Huaxia Battle Zone—99% something’s wrong!”
Standing atop the peak, Yamamoto glared grimly as a Central Asian Third-Stage fighter soared right over his head, looking down on him.
Ever since he realized something was amiss with the Huaguo, he withdrew with the Japanese squad without even scouting the city.
Not only that, but upon noticing that the Central Asian Battle Zone was the third last to enter, he decisively chose to form an alliance!
There was nothing he could do; after suddenly witnessing a dramatic swing in Huaguo’s score, he grimly noted that no further changes occurred in the next half hour!
Moreover, the fierce National War—which should have been raging—went utterly silent following the disappearance of the Huaguo!
What a joke!
This is a National War; with as many as five battle zones now in play, the battle should already have heated up to a fever pitch once the final three joined!
But what now!?
Except for that bunch of damn Chinese with inexplicably skyrocketing scores, and the bizarre deaths of people in other battle zones who shouldn’t have perished—aside from that, the whole world remains utterly silent!
Though arrogant, he wasn’t an idiot!
All these anomalies made him feel as if only his faction remained in the entire National War!
That feeling was utterly unsettling!
As Yamamoto repeated his words, the red-haired, blue-eyed Kusman merely smiled indifferently.
“Huaguo? Southeast Asian monkeys?”
“They fight in nonsensical ways, with scores fluctuating back and forth—isn’t that normal? After all, they’re all just a bunch of losers; it’s only natural if someone dies!”
“In your Central Asia, wasn’t Huaguo always pretty strong? Their high scores prove they have strong leaders, even if they aren’t many in number.”
Lost in his own analysis, Kusman glanced at the score rankings and, seeing the current results, genuinely felt nothing was amiss.
Huaguo ranked first… well, before these strong battle zones entered, that ranking made perfect sense.
Southeast Asia in last place? And South Korea second from the bottom?
It doesn’t seem to be an issue, does it…
In his eyes, it was the elusive Japanese Battle Zone—clearly hiding something—that was problematic!
If it weren’t for their desperate plea for an alliance, he wouldn’t bother with them!
Seeing that Kusman was utterly ignoring his analysis, Yamamoto’s expression darkened immediately.
He knew, however, that these arrogant Central Asian allies were completely clueless about the situation within Huaguo.
They had no idea that in this National War, the Huaxia Battle Zone had only deployed Yenir while everyone else was being sent to their deaths!
With such an information gap—and having not been involved in previous upheavals—it was natural they didn’t see any major problems!
Damn it; he didn’t want to reveal anything about Huaguo!
“Enough, Lord Yamamoto.”
“If you’re so wary of the Huaguo, then let’s go surround and slaughter them!”
“Whether they team up with Vietnam or anyone else, our countries can crush them—we just need to be cautious!”
With a light chuckle, Kusman arrogantly looked toward the distant city.
According to Yamamoto, there was a major issue there—it was highly likely that Huaxia forces were lying in ambush!
Doesn’t matter!
His confidence stemmed not only from his own strength but also from the lavish lineup sent into this National War!
Like the Southeast Asia Joint Battle Zone, they were an alliance of several countries entering the war! But unlike the infighting cesspool of the Southeast Asia Joint Battle Zone, their unity—thanks to their shared religion—was remarkable!
For this National War, they even sent each nation’s strongest group of Peak Third-Stage fighters!
Thus, even though they fielded only about forty Third-Stage Advanced warriors, their overall strength surpassed that of all previous battle zones combined!
With such might, his only real opponents were the Indian Battle Zone—the most populous—and the Stan Joint Battle Zone (West Asia)!
The former’s strength had long rivaled that of Huaguo, while the latter was notorious for churning out Third-Stage lunatics who fought with brutal bloodshed!
Listening to Kusman’s sneering remarks, Yamamoto hesitated before shaking his head uneasily.
“My suggestion is to wait a bit longer!”
“Once all battle zones have entered, let’s see if we can unite with one more before we act!”
“If we strike now and the Indian Battle Zone and West Asian forces suddenly team up, it could be detrimental to us!”
He was extremely cautious.
Gone was the pre-war mindset of immediately hunting down Huaguo upon entry.
Yenir probably never anticipated that the anomalies he left behind would make the Japanese Battle Zone so jittery and overly cautious!
There was nothing anyone could do; anyone in the Japanese Battle Zone, watching as the Han Dong battle zones joined forces only to have a group decimated by Huaguo, would naturally get anxious.
Especially since Yenir controlled so many battle zones—so many that even Yamamoto instinctively sensed a tremendous danger!
It was as if they had penetrated deep into enemy territory only to encounter not a single foe along the way!
That feeling was deeply unsettling!
Seeing the Japanese Battle Zone act so timidly, and just as Kusman furrowed his brows ready to veto, a cold system alert suddenly rang out.
“Ding, the Stan Joint Battle Zone has entered.”
“Ding, the Indian Battle Zone has entered.”
“All national battle zones have now entered this National War. All participants, please prepare!”
…
After two consecutive system alerts, Kusman instinctively looked up and immediately spotted two distant beams of light descending from the sky.
He had thought there were still several hours left before the final entry deadline, with the remaining two battle zones joining later.
But to his surprise, they entered simultaneously?
Earlier he might have dismissed Yamamoto’s suggestions, but…
“With the final two battle zones entering at the same time, we really need to rethink our strategy…”
Their eyes flashed as they exchanged a glance, and both resolutely made up their minds.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to them, Yenir—hidden among the distant city clusters—watched the military satellite feed with calm composure.
“Very good… they’ve all arrived…”
He chuckled softly.
Acting as if he had long prepared a plan, he waved to signal Akqizi to lead his team out immediately!
“Begin the operation! Uh, let’s call it ‘Hunting the Nation’…”
“Act naturally, blend in!”
Rising to his feet, after deploying four Peak Third-Stage Otherworldly Ghosts in succession, a strange glint flashed in Yenir’s eyes.
And four more nations.
Perhaps he could wipe them out in one fell swoop!
