Chapter Index

    Yenir?

Watching Yenir fall back into deep thought, it was obvious his mind was unsettled.

Fang Hao and the others couldn’t help but feel puzzled.

They had rarely—no, never—seen Yenir so restless. In their minds, he was fearless, exuding absolute confidence in every situation.

    “Uncle Fang, I’m fine…”

Taking a deep breath, Yenir forced a smile, struggling to suppress the anxiety within.

These were all just conjectures, and regarding the System assignment, he couldn’t possibly reveal anything to Li Xuanguo and the others.

Which meant he had to bear this pressure all by himself!

    (I can’t just sit back… I surely can’t wait for my demise!)

(If my hunch is right, it means they can control the Sea Beast! Yet, it’s strange there’s been no movement—not from those rebels either; none of them have reacted.)

(But without a doubt… once that guy unleashes a Sea Beast attack along the Coast, all my plans will be thrown into chaos! I might not even be able to stop it!)

Yenir’s eyes flashed as he realized just how tricky the problem was.

He wasn’t afraid of Awakener-type foes! Sure, humans might be smarter than monsters, but they do fear death! They hesitate! Even if another group of Third-Stage rebels charged in, Yenir was certain he could behead them on the spot!

But the Sea Beast was entirely different—a colossal creature that required a swarm of Awakeners to fell each one, and their numbers were terrifying! Forget the apocalyptic tide from his past life—even a few more disasters along the East Sea could overwhelm Huaguo!

With both internal strife and external threats, all his efforts since rebirth would be for nothing if things went awry!

(If Huaguo erupts into a full-scale internal chaos, no strategic plan can be deployed! And that’s not even counting the attentions of neighboring countries!)

(Is there any chance of a Fourth-Stage Sea Beast? Probably not. According to the previous timeline, no one should yet be able to control a Fourth-Stage. Otherwise, I’d have almost no chance!)

    Time was running out.

Straining to steady his emotions, Yenir made his decision as quickly as he could.

“Uncle Fang, what’s that guy’s name exactly?”

“If I decide to investigate his Documents, can you help me track him down? And if I dig deeper, just how much information can we unearth?”

    He asked decisively.

Seeing Yenir’s grave expression, Fang Hao was momentarily stunned:

    “His name is Yuanlong.”

“Out of respect and given the sensitive circumstances, we rarely speak his name directly.”

“I have seen part of his Documents, though.”

“Yuanlong’s strength is roughly Third-Stage Advanced. He was among the earliest Awakeners in the Huaguo Military, earning remarkable feats during the initial outbreak. Later, in the first corpse tide uprising, he personally led troops to hold the capital’s northern evacuation line, saving countless survivors.”

“Eventually, thanks to his unparalleled experience, he ascended to supreme commander.”

“The rest is as you know. After the Yelin incident, he passed away shortly after retiring.”

“More detailed records are available. But Yenir, aren’t you…”

Fang Hao’s puzzled look nearly prompted him to ask why Yenir placed so much importance on a deceased man when, in the next second, Yenir swiftly used his Spirit Energy to draw a symbol right before him.

    “Uncle Fang, Prime Minister!”

“Have you, or anyone close to him, ever seen this symbol?”

Yenir asked nervously. The symbol he had drawn was the mark of the Sea Beast! Though he wasn’t sure whether the first Mother bore it, if it did…

The result left Yenir deeply disappointed.

Fang Hao, the Prime Minister, and the others examined it closely and soon all shook their heads.

    “No, we haven’t.”

“Yenir, what exactly did you discover? Is this mark significant?”

Someone finally couldn’t hold back any longer.

But faced with Fang Hao and the others’ uncertainty, Yenir could only offer a bitter laugh, unable to explain.

“Uncle Fang, find a way to investigate this thoroughly. Keep me updated on any abnormalities from now on.”

“Let’s adjourn today’s meeting. As planned, we’ll concentrate all available forces for a clean-up operation!”

“In three days, we strike! In this period, if there are any disturbances along the Coast or from neighboring countries, just leave them be for now—I’ll handle it.”

“If anything happens along the Coast, report to me immediately!”

Yenir spoke rapidly and then prepared to leave.

Yet as soon as he finished, Qin Feng at the side reacted quickly, catching the underlying implication.

“Yenir? Aren’t you coming with us?”

“You’re the overall commander now. Aren’t you going to get to know your major corps and set up a battle plan? Honestly, it might be better if you personally direct that group of Third-Stage fighters.”

The group of foreign Third-Stages that Yenir had brought out were clearly off, and the subsequent batch of rebels made them look even more unsettling.

But for Qin Feng, although everyone recognized this, they silently agreed not to question it.

They trusted—trusted implicitly—that no matter how unorthodox Yenir’s methods were, at least they were one of their own!

And precisely because of that, Qin Feng believed this battle should be commanded by Yenir. Frankly speaking, all of their high-end combat strength had been created by Yenir’s so-called ‘monsters.’

“Uncle Qin, don’t worry about that batch of Third-Stages. I’ll take care of them.”

“As for command, leave it to you guys. You know your troops better. Me…”

    Yenir managed a bitter smile.

“I do have some matters to attend to. For now, I can’t act alongside you.”

    With that, Yenir fell silent.

The clean-up operation wasn’t too difficult. Although the old faction still had plenty of Third-Stages, few were willing to fight to the death. Once the main leaders were eliminated, the remaining forces would quickly splinter.

Thus, for Yenir, there was only one pressing task: locating the Mother!

First, the suspected Mother—Yuanlong—was likely no ordinary force! In the midst of chaos, he was undoubtedly the greatest threat!

Second, the quieter the enemy remained, the more unsettled Yenir felt!

The most dangerous foe isn’t the overtly aggressive beast—it’s the venomous snake lurking in the shadows, waiting for that fatal strike!

Especially since Yenir had no idea what their next move would be!

(On Uncle Fang’s side, there’s little hope of tracking them down. After more than a decade of hiding so well, finding them now is nearly impossible!)

(So the only option is to rely on my ability to sense the Mother, forcefully locate them! Perhaps even… eliminate them before the purge begins!)

(My detection range is about ten kilometers… Worst-case scenario, I’ll sweep every suspicious area!)

    Is it dangerous?

Even if it is, it must be done!
