Chapter Index

    “Your… your room!?”

Clutching her chest, Yu Keran stared dumbfounded at the Card in Yenir’s hand. Her face instantly turned pale.

    She wasn’t stupid.

Even though she was well-protected in the Safe Zone, as a survivor born in the apocalypse, she knew exactly how dark the world truly was. For a girl like her, being handed over as a gift was nothing unusual.

But she never expected such a thing to happen even within the base!

Moreover, upon realizing she was about to become Yenir’s plaything, Yu Keran immediately thought of her brother!

A closed base and another looming war—this bully, who abused his limited power, had crossed paths with her brother!

Her body trembled as she imagined the grim fate that might befall him.

“Is this your demand? Why can’t you just let me go? What did I ever do wrong…?”

“Please, don’t hurt my brother… I beg you, spare us…!”

A torrent of thoughts raced through her mind.

With a sudden cry, Yu Keran completely broke down, collapsing as hysterical tears flowed.

How could this pervert dare toy with her in front of the inspector? After being brought here, wasn’t life already worse than death!?

Standing his ground, Yenir furrowed his brow, looking at the rain-soaked young girl with exasperation.

No need to ask—he already knew exactly what twisted fantasy Yu Keran was conjuring.

    Damn…

No curves, no assets—only a deranged mind would find Yu Keran attractive. Besides, he wasn’t even in the mood for a nightingale, let alone her.

    “Shut up!”

“If you don’t want your brother to die, then keep quiet!”

Yenir’s cold threat left no room for sympathy. Preoccupied with gathering intel, he now faced a complication with an outsider in his room.

He could kill her if he had to, but deep down, Yenir knew he was too cold-hearted for that; Yu Keran had done nothing wrong.

(Killing her might temporarily solve the problem, but the upcoming test would blow the cover. Without her, even a fool could tell something was wrong—and my identity would be questioned since the Rebels have shown a keen interest in this girl…)

(Knocking her out wouldn’t work either—someone would definitely notice…)

Irritated, Yenir swiftly scanned every corner of the room with his mental power, checking for cameras or recording devices.

He hadn’t expected such melodrama at this crucial moment.

Using Yu Keran to infiltrate had naturally led to further complications.

Meanwhile, the already terrified Yu Keran, sobbing uncontrollably, listened as Yenir’s threats deepened her inner fear.

To her, his command for silence sounded like a forewarning that her brother was in deep trouble!

“No! No! I won’t scream anymore! I promise—I’ll do anything, I’ll stay silent! Just please don’t hurt my brother…!”

Her loud cries dwindled to soft whimpers.

Her panicked eyes frantically searched the room for a whip.

Yenir looked at her, exasperated, instantly realizing she had misunderstood his intentions.

These days, girls mature early—Yu Keran had clearly mistaken his actions for some perverse game.

    What should I do!?

What am I supposed to do!?

After a tense, silent stare, Yenir steeled his resolve and strode toward the young girl.

If he killed her, the Rebels would notice the missing person and search his room. Otherwise, he was stuck.

So his only option was to pretend to knock her out—fooling the Rebels into thinking he had pushed things too far, which could at least justify his actions.

As Yenir advanced with an icy expression, Yu Keran stared at him in utter despair, her tears intensifying.

    “No… don’t come any closer… I’m naked, I won’t—I just don’t know how…!”

“If you want your brother to live, then shut up!”

Ignoring Yu Keran’s instinctive protests, Yenir scoffed coldly and roughly yanked her drenched hair.

Unconcerned with her frantic flailing, he greedily neared her neck, inhaling deeply.

“I told you, sooner or later you’ll fall into my hands.”

“Go ahead and scream—it only turns me on more. Later, it’s going to hurt a lot; maybe you’ll even pass out.”

After setting the stage with deliberate taunts and seeing Yu Keran shut her eyes tightly, trembling like a little bird, Yenir deliberately spooked her before ripping off her bathrobe.

Ignoring her pained cries, Yenir cruelly squeezed her in two places until her body convulsed in agony and bruises spread, then, with icy resolve, he grabbed her from behind.

With a sharp crack as he precisely pressed the back of her head, Yu Keran went limp and lost consciousness.

So soft in his arms—with such close proximity, Yenir could even feel her tender warmth.

Yet, his heart remained unmoved as he threw her onto the bed and began to manipulate her carelessly.

“There’s no other choice—I must act the part completely.”

“No visible wounds, no irregularities—it just wouldn’t seem genuine enough.”

After quickly staging the scene, Yenir exhaled sharply. Looking at Yu Keran on the bed, disheveled and bruised from the brutal encounter, he silently muttered an apology.

Of course, that apology wasn’t for Yu Keran—it was directed at himself.

“Damn it, this kind of behavior really tarnishes my image.”

Not only had he sacrificed himself countless times for humanity, but Yenir also looked at his battered hands with sorrow, feeling that they were sullied once again.

If humanity ever truly triumphed, he wondered how history would portray him.

“Great deeds always demand sacrifices. In this world, someone always has to pay the price.”

Suppressing his inner turmoil, Yenir moved toward the wall of the lounge closest to the outside and began tapping rapidly.

    “Ding ding.”

Relying on his keen senses, Yenir quickly confirmed that his room’s wall was made of metal. This meant the exterior wall had at most a single corrosion-resistant layer, beyond which lay the base’s underground structure.

Slowly, he extended his mental power through the wall until the entire base was shielded by a protective barrier—he couldn’t afford any mistakes.

Fortunately, probing from inside kept him at a safe distance from the shield.

Soon, as his mental power extended about five or six meters, a chilling aura suddenly emerged!

“Huh!? There’s something between the shield and the base!?”

Yenir’s expression turned grim as the bone-chilling presence, like a venomous serpent, threatened to invade his mind.

It wasn’t just a physical cold—it was an aura laced with malice!

    “Buzz!”

In an instant, his mental power coalesced into a needle-sharp point. Taking a deep breath, Yenir thrust it without hesitation toward the cold presence.

He was determined to uncover the mystery behind the sinister force accumulating throughout the underground.
