Chapter 113: Awakening of the Elven Girl
by xennovelThe elven girl lay on an examination table, eyes tightly closed.
Her wrists, ankles and even her neck were firmly strapped down by restraints.
Circular Sensor patches dotted her skin in several spots.
Every reading from her body was clearly displayed on a virtual interface beside her.
She was the same elf girl that Lin Yu and the others had spotted napping in a tree not long ago.
Back then, all she wanted was a simple nap—she had no idea she’d never open her eyes again, only to be captured by humans and subjected to all sorts of experiments.
Of course, she wasn’t dead.
She’d merely been kept in a constant state of sleep using advanced technology.
And those restraints? They were just in case she woke up and caused chaos. Truth be told, the scientists here…
were no match for her.
“So?”
Lin Yu stepped into the lab and shot a glance at the elf girl on the table.
Then he asked,
“We’ve got the preliminary results. The structure of elves is incredibly similar to humans, right down to their genetics. Honestly, you could call them human without any real issues.”
“That’s… impossible!”
“Yeah, it shouldn’t be possible. But here we are. And that’s not even the weirdest part.”
“That isn’t the weirdest part?”
Lin Yu’s eyes went wide.
He knew the odds of something like this happening were so tiny that calling it one in a trillion would be overestimating.
But according to Lu Bo, things got even stranger?
“Remember how we discovered how elves are born yesterday?”
“Yeah—their bodies grow from trees, don’t they?”
Thinking back on it, everyone had been stunned when they saw it the day before.
After all, in human fantasy, elves were often linked to a “Mother Tree”, which was seen as the mother of all elves because…
Elves actually come from the fruit of the Mother Tree—when the fruit ripens, an elf is born from it.
And just yesterday, they’d discovered a massive tree in the habitable zone, its branches heavy with fruit.
As they watched, a few fruits ripened and fell to the ground.
Then several young elf girls broke out of the fruit and crawled out.
Everyone who witnessed it had been left completely speechless.
“Right, they’re born from trees. But what you probably don’t realize is that elves actually have the same reproductive organs as human females—fully functional!”
“Wait, how is that possible?”
Logically, a creature’s organs change as they evolve.
Normally, a species will evolve organs only as needed, and any unnecessary parts will eventually fade away.
That’s just how evolution works.
But elves had no males, yet they possessed female reproductive organs almost identical to Earth’s humans.
Alright—even if they once had males, if males no longer existed and those organs weren’t needed, wouldn’t they have faded over time?
Why would those organs remain, completely intact and fully functional?
Lu Bo really couldn’t wrap his head around it. None of this made sense.
But the facts were right in front of him.
He couldn’t help but wonder in his heart—was evolution itself wrong?
Even if that were true, it still didn’t explain why elven females had organs so uncannily similar to humans.
There were simply too many mysteries and questions with no answers.
Lu Bo’s mind was a whirlwind.
Utterly chaotic.
Just then, Lin Yu’s smart computer buzzed—a communication request was coming in.
It was George.
“George, what’s up?”
“There’s a situation on Proxima II. The elves are starting to mobilize on a large scale!”
“What is it? Are they going to war with the Black Dragon?”
“No, they’re not gathering in one place. Instead, they’re spreading out over a massive area—it almost looks like they’re searching for something.”
“Looking for something…”
Lin Yu paused, then automatically reached up and rubbed his chin.
In the next instant, it hit him.
“The spot where we captured that elf girl yesterday—isn’t that right in the middle of this area where the elves are active?”
“Hang on, let me check… Yeah, you’re right. The elves are swarming out from the very spot where we made our move, spreading out for about a hundred kilometers in every direction.”
“Just as I thought. For the entire elven tribe to react like this, that elf girl’s identity must be something extraordinary.”
“So, what are you planning to do?”
“No rush. You keep monitoring the surface, I’ll handle the rest.”
“Got it!”
George nodded, then ended the call.
“Dr. Lu, there’s no need for her to stay here any longer, right?”
“No need. All the data has been collected, and we’ve already taken the tissue and blood samples.”
Lu Bo nodded in agreement.
“Alright then, judging by how the elves are moving, she’s probably someone important. I need her as a way to open dialogue with the elves, too.”
“If you’re done on your end, I’ll have someone move her. Any objections?”
This time, Lu Bo simply shook his head and gestured for him to go ahead.
Soon after, a squad of heavily armed infantry marched in and undid the restraints. Then they carried the elf girl away.
——
An hour later.
Inside one of Zhulong’s detention rooms.
Roughly five meters long, three meters wide and three meters tall—a rectangular box.
Aside from a high-strength fence at the front, every other side was completely sealed off.
The elf girl now lay inside.
Slowly, she opened her eyes and looked around in confusion.
Where am I?
The unfamiliar surroundings made her panic a little, so she instinctively scuttled to the corner.
Right then, she spotted someone standing outside the fence.
She finally breathed a sigh of relief.
After all, on Proxima II, only elves looked human.
So, in her mind, if it looked human, it had to be an elf.
Until she got a good look and something felt off.
This person…
was not an elf!
He had no pointed ears or emerald-green eyes.
And he was missing the iconic golden hair.
What really shocked her, though, was how flat his chest was.
Not that you could blame her—among elves, there was a very high minimum standard for both looks and figure.
That didn’t mean every elf was a goddess, but even the ‘plainest’ elf would match an eight-out-of-ten human beauty.
Same went for their bodies.
Even the smallest-chested elf was decent—truly flat-chested women just didn’t exist among elves.
That’s why the elf girl was so shocked by the flat chest in front of her.
“Who are you?”
“And where is this?”
“Why am I here?”
