Chapter 727: Giants Clash: The Battle of the Myths
by xennovel“Is the Tri-Corpse Hyperstate Mecha going all out, Your Majesties?”
“What on earth is that thing? If a single finger is this terrifying, how horrifying would the real body be?”
“If I’m guessing right, that’s the legendary ‘Eight-Armed Demon God’ lurking behind the Serpent Demon clan—an almighty fiend from the Bottomless Abyss!”
“A Demon God?”
In the group comms, one Captain glanced up at the sky, looking beyond the Floating-Land Shield overhead.
The Bloodspawn, mirrored earlier by the Shensia Jiuli, was still using its tentacles to keep the shield’s fissure open. While mid and low-tier Torch battleships poured through, the Bloodspawn strained to wriggle its way deeper into the Floating-Land.
As frightening as the Bloodspawn’s power appeared, it still only compared to that finger stretching across the infinite void.
A heretic god on one side, a demon god on the other—both mythic beings, so why such a vast difference between them?
Seeing everyone’s doubts, the Captain who’d explained before stepped up again:
“From everything recorded, the Eight-Armed Demon God is a famed overlord of the Bottomless Abyss. No one knows how long it’s held its mythic throne, but all civilizations of the Sea of Stars agree—even among mythic beings, this Demon God is anything but ordinary.”
“By comparison, the Bloodspawn’s origins are sorely lacking. It barely crossed into myth rank thanks to its bloodline, and due to its corruption, was sealed away by the Blood Lord soon after arrival. It’s one of the weakest mythic creatures out there.”
“Remember, even though Pei Dinan spent a fortune in high-grade source blood to summon it, there was no true myth blood among the offerings. The Bloodspawn they got wasn’t anywhere close to full power!”
With this, the Captains finally understood.
But before they could dwell, thunderous blasts erupted across the distant vault of the sky, drawing every eye.
The Heaven’s Holy Radiance fired a terrifying beam, which collided head-on with the dark finger rising from the storm vortex. An explosive detonation burst from the impact, unleashing devastating shockwaves in every direction.
That instant, a nearly tenth-tier energy storm swept across half the Floating-Land’s sky.
Even with the Floating-Land’s peak ninth-tier stability, countless spatial rifts began to snake across the heavens.
They’d hoped that a near-myth strike might at least injure the finger. But as the storm faded, every Torch Captain paled at what they saw.
“Impossible… A near-mythic strike, probably stacked with true attack power, couldn’t even nick that finger stretching out of the void?”
Across comms, the Captains spoke in shaky tones.
Thankfully, the attack at least slowed the finger’s advance, buying crucial time for the three Superdimensional Motherships to combine.
Meanwhile, from far below where Song Chi and the Torch battleships hovered, they witnessed the three motherships shifting parts at blinding speed, morphing into kaleidoscopic mecha giants. When the seven-colored glow faded, only a single colossal mech remained high overhead.
That mecha stood nearly a billion kilometers tall, its body encircled by countless strands of strange laws.
Song Chi didn’t know what laws these were, but his gaze locked on the mech’s shoulders and head.
Powerful space energy rippled all around the giant, but especially above its shoulders and head, where three immense dimensional vortices swirled, pouring endless waves of spatial power into the Tri-Corpse Hyperstate Mecha.
While Song Chi puzzled at those vortices’ true nature, a Captain’s voice rang out in the group chat.
“That’s the Tri-Corpus Divine Realm! Think of those three black hole-like vortices as pocket worlds—two resting on the shoulders, one large one above the head. With the power of boundless worlds backing it, the Tri-Corpse Hyperstate Mecha can stand toe-to-toe with the mythic! It’s the Torch Human Civilization’s trump card!”
“Anywhere—the Emperor City of Chaotic Divine Land, the frontlines with the insect swarm, or deep in the Abyssal border—this thing is our ace, the reason our civilization can defend its rights against the greatest empires and apex races!”
…
“Ji Lie, Greedy Wolf, Pei Can, Emil… You four, take the lead!”
Pei Dinan’s voice rang out in the Star River-class fleet’s private comms.
One after another, without hesitation, the chosen Captains revved their engines and soared toward the ninth-tier battlefield above.
With the motherships leaving, the ninth-tier battlefield’s balance was shattered, forcing several Star River-class ships to shoulder the defense.
These Captains weren’t ordinary—they were the elite representing the Four Great Empires. Even the weakest had commanded a Star River-class for over 100,000 years, and their warships were legendary.
Everyone knew how much was at stake here. Knowing the danger, they still put their all into this fight.
What mattered most? Song Chi and a few high-tier Star River-class Captains unleashing their full power.
The defeat of several Eighth-Tier Serpent Demon Dominators—including one with ninth-tier strength—eased much of the Torch Human side’s pressure. So even after sending their strongest ships to the higher battlefield, balance at the eighth-tier front held.
These battlefield shifts seemed crucial to Star-Annihilator and lesser Captains, but for the Eight-Armed Demon God reaching across the endless void, none of it mattered.
Only two things piqued its interest now: the newly merged Tri-Corpse Hyperstate Mecha, and that Bloodspawn trapped just outside the shield.
The Bloodspawn, stopped outside the shield, now focused solely on the towering Mecha.
After casually smashing the destructive beam aside, the Demon God’s finger lunged straight for the Tri-Corpse Hyperstate Mecha.
Rule-breaking power trailed behind. The void of Demon God Continent tore open as the finger surged so fast it collided almost instantly with the Mecha’s giant seven-colored battlesaber.
The saber swept out. Despite the dense, chaotic energies shielding the finger, it was sliced clean open. The freezing blade left a gaping wound along the inky-black finger.
“Ku fa wu!”
As the saber slashed down, a chaotic howl echoed deep within the storm channel—the enraged cry of the Eight-Armed Serpent Demon.
Clearly, suffering at the hands of three ninth-tier beings had stoked its fury.
As for the motherships merging, it hardly cared. In a being’s eyes that had ruled since time immemorial, even ninth-tier powerhouses were nothing. Never once had such existences truly wounded its real form.
This time, though, was the exception.
A long-lost pain awakened a savage violence deep within the abyssal monster.
Chaotic rule power erupted, both healing the wound and unleashing chains wrought from that chaos. These great chains burst from the void, all hurtling toward the Tri-Corpse Hyperstate Mecha.
But the Mecha reacted swiftly. Detecting the lock-on, the pocket world above its head surged out, weaving a domain of world energy around it.
Inside this zone, the frenzied chains of chaos slowed dramatically, giving the Mecha room to maneuver.
Inheriting the Heaven’s Holy Radiance’s speed, it blinked across the battlefield, dodging the dense barrage of chains and closing in once more on the Demon God’s finger.
But before the saber could swing again, a wave of chaos energy erupted from the finger.
Faced with such pure chaotic power, even with its ‘divine skull’ halo, the Mecha momentarily slipped into confusion.
The Demon God seized the chance. Its fingertip condensed a sharp drill of chaos, which smashed hard into the Mecha’s chest.
Though the three Human Emperors inside quickly regained control and drew back, a deep dent now marred the Mecha’s chest.
The damage wasn’t heavy, but they’d clearly fallen behind.
…
Far off, inside the Heavenly Ruin’s control room, Song Chi’s mind raced as he pushed his dual pupils to the limit.
Nobody could miss it—the Tri-Corpse Hyperstate Mecha was losing ground. If this kept up, the battle’s balance would break.
“I’ve got to do something!”
Caught in a whirlwind of thoughts, Song Chi jerked his gaze through the shield’s crack toward the Bloodspawn outside the Floating-Land.
Right now, the only way to influence the mythic showdown was this Bloodspawn.
“It’s just an Eighth-Tier Ashura Emperor!”
Vrrrrooom!
The Heavenly Ruin’s engine screamed, and in the next instant the giant ship vanished.
High above the Demon God Floating-Land, the Heavenly Ruin suddenly reappeared.
Whoosh—
The warship’s hatch slammed open and the miniaturized Ashura Emperor shot out, immediately beginning to grow.
A thousand kilometers.
Ten thousand.
A hundred thousand.
…
In a blink, the Ashura Emperor swelled to a million kilometers tall, yet kept growing. Blood-red steam seethed from its body.
Finally, when it reached nearly a hundred million kilometers, it stopped.
At last, the aura it gave off barely touched the ninth tier.
Using the ‘Enslave Seal: Berserk’ trait to hit that mark, Song Chi gave the next command.
Now able to wield ninth-tier strength, the Ashura Emperor soared toward the rift above.
The closer it got, the heavier the demonic radiation.
Unlike those Torch warships equipped with high-grade isolation tech courtesy of the Chiyu Dynasty, the Ashura Emperor had to endure the radiation with its bare body.
Thankfully, Song Chi had previously buffed it with a gold-grade Plasma Guardian, its shield blocking half the incoming radiation for as long as it held.
As it reached the fissure, the Ashura Emperor gripped the rift’s edge, using all its might—along with the Bloodspawn outside—to further widen the opening.
With such help, the fissure’s diameter grew much faster. At this rate, the Bloodspawn would break through in no time.
Crack!
Within just tens of seconds, the level 80 plasma shield shattered under the force of the corruption. Now, exposed, the Ashura Emperor took the full brunt of the Bloodspawn’s radiation.
In just seconds, the Ashura Emperor’s surface writhed as the twitching meat nodules multiplied and pulsed even more fiercely.
Through the Mind-Bridge, Song Chi could feel the Ashura Emperor’s soul crying out in agony.
Still, he gritted his teeth and forced it to go on.
Buzz!
A faint spatial ripple pinged the ship’s rear.
The signal was so subtle that, if Song Chi’s mastery of the Law of Space hadn’t reached Law Bridge level, he’d never have caught it in time.
Wasting no time, he instantly activated the ship’s Black Hole Evolution Layer.
With Black Hole Domain engaged, the Heavenly Ruin became utterly invulnerable.
He had no clue what was behind that ripple, but with war raging, Song Chi wasn’t taking any chances.
Truth was, it only felt this urgent because the real Heavenly Ruin was here. If it were a Mirror Warship, he probably wouldn’t have cared as much.
But that caution saved him from a fatal blow.
Because out of the rippling void, a Ninth-Tier Serpent Demon revealed itself behind the ship.
Song Chi’s breath caught, coming harsh and ragged.
A flurry of frantic thoughts collided in his mind.
‘A Ninth-Tier Serpent Demon… Why target me?’
‘Or is it after the Bloodspawn?’
‘Does it want to keep the Bloodspawn out of the Floating-Land?’
‘Wait, that aura… That’s the owner of the Shedding of the Heaven-Devouring Python!’
‘Summoning that python spirit for help before… Did that put me on its radar?’
In a flash, the reason clicked for Song Chi.
His next instinct was crystal clear—run.
A Ninth-Tier Serpent Demon Dominator, augmented by the peak Floating-Land, was not something he could fight.
But then his gaze flicked to the Ashura Emperor overhead, and he hesitated.
Swish!
Another wave of hyper-intense energy surged from below; Song Chi’s eyes went steely cold.
Hesitation could only spell disaster now.
“I’ve already sacrificed the Ashura Emperor… How could I back out at the last minute?”
With that, he activated every key component aboard the Heavenly Ruin.
Angel King’s Authority Wings: ‘True Spirit Guard’!
Mythic Pulsar Energy Shield: ‘Mythic Pulse Wave’!
A far more solid Angel King’s spirit apparition formed overhead, enveloping the Heavenly Ruin just in time to intercept the Ninth-Tier Serpent Demon Dominator’s attack.
Blinding energy detonations followed. This time, though, the True Spirit Guard held out much longer—several times stronger even than before, facing attacks at the very upper limits of ninth tier.
“Level 90 Angel King’s Authority Wings… That’s a real upgrade!”
Song Chi allowed himself a satisfied nod.
He’d gotten this boost thanks to the three Ninth-Tier Golden Apples traded with Immortal Qin Industries. The one he got went straight into upgrading the Angel King’s Authority Wings.
Now, it was worth every bit of effort.
Still, facing an ultimate Ninth-Tier Serpent Demon Dominator, even the new True Spirit Guard eventually ran out, the apparition breaking apart after half a minute. It was enough, though—the Serpent Demon’s onslaught lost most of its power against the Mythic Pulsar Shield, taking less than 5% off the HP.
Sounds like a lot, but a Level 90 Mythic Pulsar Energy Shield regenerated 9% of its max shields every second. So with losses like these, it would bounce right back.
Still, in the control room, Song Chi’s eyes narrowed.
He knew things were nowhere near safe. The Heavenly Ruin might be decked out, but facing a Ninth-Tier Serpent Demon Dominator at its limit was another story. Worse, the Timepiece Chessboard’s ‘Time • Game’ ability was still on cooldown—his most vital ace was missing, and the danger had never been higher.
Yet he couldn’t just leave. From the start, the Demon wasn’t after him, but the Bloodspawn outside the shield.
This was about the whole Serpent Demon Race’s survival. Blocking the Bloodspawn from entering was vital. As for him, he was just a bonus target for their revenge from that earlier ambush.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Eight arms of the Serpent Demon lashed out in blinding succession, pummeling the Mythic Pulsar Shield as waves of power made its shield-light flicker.
“Warning: Heavy external assault detected. Shield at 24%…”
“Warning: Heavy external assault detected. Shield at 44%…”
“Shield damaged. Neutron-Star Core Pulse active.”
“Shield regeneration initiated—10% max shield restored. Shield now at 34%. Repair recommended.”
“Warning: Intense attack. Shield at 60%…”
…
“Neutron-Star Core Pulse: 15% max shield restored. Current shield at 72%.”
…
As the AI issued a chorus of urgent warnings, the Mythic Pulsar Energy Shield continued to flicker.
Though both the shield and Neutron-Star Core Armor had passive repairs, the barrage from below was so relentless that the shield was losing ground fast.
When damage peaked over 80%, Song Chi activated the Last Aegis.
Even with its golden grade, it lagged behind the Mythic Pulsar Energy Shield by two whole tiers. Still, it got the shields back up to 53%.
Without hesitation, Song Chi summoned the python spirit again, conjured the spectral Dragon Whale Hall for protection, then shifted his focus to the Timepiece Chessboard.
The real issue was the Serpent Demon’s insane attack rate. If only he could reactivate ‘Time • Chessboard’ and slow time, it’d be solved perfectly.
But there were hardly any Time Chess Pieces left after fighting the Lord of Truth. If he used them now, it’d be ages before he could play this last trump card again.
Before he could struggle with the decision, the sound of multiple sonic booms echoed from below—more reinforcements arrived.
This time, it wasn’t more Serpent Demons but five Torch warships.
Song Chi’s eyes narrowed, sweeping the five Star-Annihilator-class ships headed his way.
He didn’t underestimate them; even from their massive hulls alone, he knew these were no regular ships.
Besides, those five didn’t bother hiding their names.
Zhoutian Beidou
Qin Xiaolong
Tianxia Jiuding
Goddess of Light
Eternal Red Dragon
Song Chi recognized every one, each a legend among Star-Annihilator ships.
Two hailed from the Xian Qin Divine Dynasty.
The other three were from Divine Xia, Chiyu, and the Divine Federation.
Just to compare: Zhoutian Beidou and Qin Xiaolong, both from Xian Qin, were prime examples.
The Captain of Zhoutian Beidou was a fellow Sevenstar Hall member, ranked tenth on the Xian Qin Star-Annihilator King list, and sixty-third overall among Torch humans.
Qin Xiaolong was even higher—third on Xian Qin’s list, sixteenth among Torch humans.
All five Captains were monstrous talents, elites of the Torch Human Race’s top rankings.
As the five ships drew near, they clearly understood Song Chi’s plight—and had come to lend a hand.
