Chapter 1000: Three, Grant Me This Favor
by xennovelOne hour later.
Yu Li, trembling, led three middle-aged men into the living room.
The weather in the Northwest has a large temperature difference between day and night. It’s warm during the day but cold at night.
Yu Li had been outside for an hour in the cold wind, chilled like a dog.
After entering the living room, he instinctively glanced at his sister.
After all, he had heard the sounds outside and knew what had gone on inside.
Sure enough, Yuxiu’s face was still flushed with a springlike glimmer in her eyes, and her body seemed limp.
It was clear she hadn’t yet fully recovered.
“Brother-in-law, they are here.”
He quickly withdrew his gaze and pointed at the three middle-aged men as he spoke to Xu Shaochen.
“Good evening, Mr. Xu.”
The three greeted Xu Shaochen. The moment they saw Yuxiu sitting next to Xu Shaochen, their hearts darkened.
What that old man Yuxiu said was actually true—Yuxiu really was with Xu Shaochen.
Damn it, having a beautiful daughter really does ensure a family’s continual prosperity.
First she married Zhao Chen.
When Zhao Chen was done, she latched onto Xu Shaochen.
This woman really is a calamity in the form of beauty.
“Please sit, you three. Sorry to trouble you so late. Yuxiu, serve the tea.”
Xu Shaochen didn’t rise, casually crossing his legs, motioning for the three to sit while having Yuxiu serve tea.
“Mm.”
Yuxiu nodded and stood up.
“Ah!”
However, she didn’t stand firmly and fell into Xu Shaochen’s arms.
Xu Shaochen looked at her with amusement. “Be careful, can’t even stand properly.”
“My… my foot slipped.”
Yuxiu blushed and whispered, hurriedly pulling herself up and walking unsteadily toward the tea.
It wasn’t that her foot slipped; her legs were weak.
As for why, Yu Li glanced at Xu Shaochen.
Xu Shaochen looked at the three across from him. “You three, may I know your names?”
“Good evening, Mr. Xu. My name is Zhou Shuang.”
“Good evening, Mr. Xu. I’m Ye Jian.”
“I’m Chen Tang.”
The three introduced themselves in turn, displaying respect.
Xu Shaochen nodded and slowly said, “I believe you already know why I called on you this late.”
“To be frank, as you can see, Yuxiu asked me. I couldn’t refuse. So, could you grant me this favor?”
“If you give me this face, I’ll give you some in return. I’ll throw in something extra as a goodwill gesture.”
Xu Shaochen once again used his ‘face token.’ He thought highly of the value of his ‘face.’
The three exchanged glances.
Then Zhou Shuang cleared his throat and spoke. “Mr. Xu, if it were anything else, as long as you ask, we wouldn’t question it. But for this matter, we must humbly request your leniency to handle it ourselves.”
“Mr. Xu, we’re all in business. Please understand; surely, you wouldn’t stop us from making more money, right?”
Although rejecting the request, Zhou Shuang kept his tone humble.
“How dare you! Zhou! Don’t refuse a favor given to you! Let me tell you…”
Upon hearing this, Yu Li exploded. With Xu Shaochen backing him like Zhao Chen had in the past, he was naturally emboldened.
“Clang!”
Before he finished, Xu Shaochen grabbed the fruit plate on the table and threw it at him.
The plate smashed into his forehead, leaving a gash.
“Ah!”
Yu Li screamed, clutching his forehead as he staggered back in fear of Xu Shaochen.
“Who’s in charge? You or me? Maybe you’d like to negotiate instead? How about I listen while you talk?”
Xu Shaochen calmly stared at Yu Li, his face emotionless but his eyes terrifyingly cold.
“Brother-in-law, I… I was wrong. I wouldn’t dare. You continue, please.”
Under Xu Shaochen’s gaze, Yu Li felt as if his whole body’s blood flow had stopped. Stammering, he backed off, not daring to butt in anymore.
Not only was Yu Li startled by Xu Shaochen’s sudden outburst, but Zhou Shuang, Chen Tang, and Ye Jian were all shocked as well.
Dealing with someone as unpredictable as him was extremely difficult.
One moment, he could be joking with you, and in the next, he might smash an ashtray on your head and curse you.
You could never guess his next move.
“You three, don’t mind that clueless kid. Let’s continue.”
Xu Shaochen smiled at the three.
The three awkwardly smiled back, clearly on edge and uncomfortable.
Just then, Yuxiu came over with a tray of tea, serving the four men.
“Thank you, Miss Yuxiu. Much appreciated.”
The three thanked Yuxiu, knowing full well that with her now tied to Xu Shaochen, nobody would dare offend her.
“Mr. Xu, I think…”
Chen Tang took a deep breath and worked up the courage to speak.
As businessmen, how could they give up easy profits?
“Tea, please.”
Xu Shaochen interrupted him, picking up his teacup with a gentle smile, gesturing for them to drink.
“Mr. Xu…”
Chen Tang tried to argue.
“Tea, please.”
Xu Shaochen cut him off again with a smile, signaling for him to drink first before speaking.
“Mr. Xu…”
Chen Tang wouldn’t give up, trying to get his words out.
“Bang!”
Xu Shaochen’s hot tea splashed all over his face.
“Aaaah!”
Chen Tang screamed, rolling around the sofa in pain.
Zhou Shuang and Ye Jian were terrified.
“I asked you to drink tea. Why didn’t you? What, do you look down on me? Or do you think my tea is beneath you?”
Xu Shaochen’s face was expressionless as he coldly scanned the three, as if the gentleman offering tea previously was just an illusion.
“N-no, Mr. Xu. You’re joking. We’ll drink, we’ll drink right now.”
“Yes, absolutely. Even if it were low-grade tea, since it’s Mr. Xu’s, it’s priceless.”
Zhou Shuang and Ye Jian smiled nervously, their hands trembling as they hurriedly drank the tea, trying to calm themselves.
They spilled much of the tea on the floor.
Luckily, the tea wasn’t too hot. Chen Tang’s face wasn’t burned, just slightly swollen as he trembled while taking a sip of tea.
Watching the three drink, Xu Shaochen smiled with satisfaction. “Well, how is it? My tea is decent, right?”
Saying this, Xu Shaochen beckoned.
Intimately, Yuxiu clipped a cigar and placed it in Xu Shaochen’s mouth, lighting it for him with practiced skill.
Her movements were smooth—clearly, she had been trained well by Xu Shaochen over time.
“Good tea. Best I’ve ever had, unforgettable.”
“Indeed, this tea must be from heaven itself. Ordinary people rarely get to taste such delicacy.”
“Well said…”
The three praised the tea seriously, as if anyone who dared criticize it would be risking their lives.
