Chapter 1035: Please Advise Chairman Huo to Rest for a Few Days
by xennovel“I’m sure everyone is curious about what’s going on between me and Chairman Huo.”
“There’s no harm in talking about it so let me explain.”
After Xu Shaochen ‘thoughtfully’ sent Huo Shen to the hospital he would let the rumors fly as nobody would refute him.
Everyone watched Xu Shaochen in silence ready to hear the story.
“Between Chairman Huo and me it was just a small misunderstanding. Neither of us hold grudges and it’s in the past now. No one pursued it further.”
At this point Xu Shaochen sighed shaking his head helplessly saying “But I didn’t expect Chairman Huo’s son to be so petty insisting on defending his father… and then… well here we are.”
“Of course I wouldn’t argue with a junior so I called the police to let the legal system decide.”
“If Chairman Huo genuinely wants to save his son he should persuade him to admit his mistake and seek leniency from the authorities. He shouldn’t be coming to me.”
If Huo Shen were present he would surely curse “Nonsense! How shameless you are!” Xu Shaochen’s rhetoric painted him as an innocent broad-minded victim.
How much everyone believes in a one-sided story is up to them.
But as long as it seems plausible that’s enough.
No one was foolish enough to meddle and secretly ask Huo Shen for the truth.
Huo Shen’s incident was just a small episode that didn’t affect the progress of the birthday party.
Everyone continued to eat drink and discuss cooperation.
As for Huo Shen he was in the hospital with a sullen face getting his wounds bandaged.
After getting bandaged he intended to leave but was stopped by the bodyguard who brought him to the hospital.
“Chairman Huo our boss said that since you’re a guest from afar you should rest in the hospital for a few days. All expenses will be covered by our boss.”
One of the bodyguards spoke to Huo Shen respectfully but with a slightly stiff tone.
Huo Shen’s bodyguards glared angrily at the man creating immediate tension.
“So Xu Shaochen is detaining me?”
Huo Shen coldly remarked.
“Chairman Huo you’re mistaken. Our boss is concerned about your health so please don’t make it difficult for us.”
Xu Shaochen’s bodyguard stood unmoved by the door refusing to budge.
“There are only two of you.”
Huo Shen looked at the bodyguards coldly implying that if he wanted to leave they couldn’t stop him.
The bodyguard smiled slightly “Chairman Huo our boss also said if your men make a move we’ll call the police then you’ll be able to see your son at the detention center.”
“You…”
Huo Shen’s face turned iron blue with anger. He took out his phone to call Xu Shaochen but found no signal.
Clearly there was a signal jammer in the ward.
From that moment he lost contact with the outside world.
In Jiangzhou on Xu Shaochen’s turf he was helpless and isolated.
“Sigh…”
He took a deep breath forcibly suppressing his anger “So when can I be discharged?”
“Don’t worry Chairman Huo our boss understands your concern as a father. He’ll make sure you attend your son’s trial.”
The bodyguard’s tone matched his expression calm and nonchalant making Huo Shen furious.
Huo Shen realized Xu Shaochen was effectively holding him captive preventing him from taking any action.
By the time his son’s trial concluded everything would be settled and too late to change.
His mindset had been too narrowly focused.
Would Xu Shaochen really be so petty? The detention primarily prevented him from returning to the Great Wilderness so troubles at home could worsen.
…
Great Wilderness Group.
Headquarters conference room.
It was eleven o’clock at night but the conference room was full.
Without Huo Shen present Zhao Pin naturally took the lead seat.
“Is there anyone still not here?”
Zhao Pin checked his watch and asked his secretary.
“Director Zhao everyone you requested has arrived.”
The secretary slightly bowed with a sweet smile and spoke softly.
“Vice Director Zhao what’s the emergency that we’re meeting in the middle of the night?”
“Right Director Zhao we were sleeping when we got the call and rushed here. Is it a crisis?”
“Director Zhao what’s going on?”
Everyone expressed dissatisfaction looking at Zhao Pin. It was the first time a meeting had been called at such a late hour.
Some were called away from their lovers’ side for the meeting unleashing their frustration on Zhao Pin.
A few remained calm seemingly knowing something and sat silently.
“Everyone please calm down. My apologies for the late meeting but it’s crucial for the future direction of Great Wilderness Group. I hope you understand my intention.”
Zhao Pin raised his hand indicating for silence smiling kindly with an air of ease.
Seeing Zhao Pin so considerate they obliged and stayed quiet.
“Everyone our company’s achievements thus far owe a lot to your hard work. However check our financial reports. They haven’t increased for five years.”
As Zhao spoke he signaled the secretary to distribute printed reports.
“Why is this happening? Simply because we’ve hit the Great Wilderness Province’s ceiling. We need to expand beyond this area or these numbers won’t change for another five or ten years.”
“Apologies if I sound absolute. More accurately these numbers might decline.”
At these words everyone wise enough sensed the direction of the discussion.
“Zhao Pin what do you mean? The company’s strategy was set by Chairman Huo. Are you dissatisfied with him?”
A middle-aged man coldly addressed Zhao Pin by his full name showing discontent.
“Indeed Director Zhao what’s your point? Speaking in circles isn’t clear. Is it dissatisfaction with Chairman Huo?”
“Chairman Huo determined our strategic direction. These comments seem inappropriate.”
Several of Huo Shen’s staunch supporters voiced their displeasure in unison.
Zhao Pin sipped his tea quietly and didn’t respond.
He wouldn’t stoop to bicker with them. That was beneath him.
