Chapter 1039: Truly a Dutiful Son

“What’s the matter, Mr. Huo? Does this apple not suit your taste?”

Seeing Huo Shen’s face turn from pale to green and then back to white Xu Shaochen suppressed a laugh.

It turns out you should never pretend to understand when you don’t know.

Otherwise, it’s just awkward.

“Xu, you jerk! You played me!”

Huo Shen threw the apple on the ground glaring at Xu Shaochen his face alternating between shades of blue and white.

He realized he had been tricked.

They weren’t some sweet apples but a bunch of rotten ones!

That taste that tanginess who eats knows.

“Hmm, Mr. Huo, you’re really smart to figure out I was tricking you just by biting an apple.”

Xu Shaochen nodded showing Huo Shen an approving look.

But in Huo Shen’s eyes that look was blinding as he gritted his teeth saying “Xu Shaochen, what do you want from me? Name your price and I’ll meet it!”

His fierce aura from his thug background revealed itself.

“You’d better think about how to save your son since he’ll be prosecuted tomorrow. Do you really plan to watch him do ten years in prison?”

Xu Shaochen spoke slowly with a hint of disdain in his eyes.

Hearing this Huo Shen instantly softened “Mr. Xu it’s just a little misunderstanding between us…”

Xu Shaochen interrupted his words “It might have been a misunderstanding before, but now your son traveled miles to scheme against me. Do you think that still counts as a misunderstanding?”

Huo Shen took a deep breath “Mr. Xu if you could extend your hand to spare Xiaochuan name your terms.”

“Alright. I want the shares of Dahuang Group in your hands, will you give them to me?”

For Xu Shaochen, Huo Chuan was just a bargaining chip for extorting shares from Huo Shen.

A sharp gleam flashed in Huo Shen’s eyes “Mr. Xu, don’t you think you’re going too far? You must know I hold forty-five percent of Dahuang Group’s shares.”

It was this forty-five percent plus shares in the hands of a few close allies that made Dahuang Group his stronghold.

“Mr. Huo, haven’t you done business before? Business is nothing more than making a high asking price and negotiating downwards. If you’re not satisfied, you can talk slowly.”

Xu Shaochen spoke calmly as if Huo Shen’s reaction was in his expectation.

It was normal that Huo Chuan was his only son.

But he couldn’t give up all his shares for Huo Chuan.

So Xu Shaochen hadn’t thought of taking all his shares.

“Ten percent, at most ten percent.”

Huo Shen paused before looking at Xu Shaochen.

“Mr. Huo, is your only son worth so little? I’m not asking for all your shares. Don’t insult me with ten percent. How about twenty percent?”

Xu Shaochen asked looking at Huo Shen.

Huo Chuan’s face was stormy but after a while, he clenched his teeth and said “Fine, I agree but I want to see my son come out safe first.”

He thought even after giving Xu Shaochen twenty percent he still had twenty-five percent.

With that and the shares in the hands of his few allies he still had the largest say in the company.

Dahuang was his turf. At worst, he would figure out a way to force Xu Shaochen out later.

What a nice thought.

But he didn’t know that his allies were arrested last night.

So even though he held twenty-five percent he couldn’t be the absolute controller of the company.

“Deal. Looking forward to the cooperation.”

Xu Shaochen smiled slightly extending a hand of friendship to him.

“Hmph.”

Huo Shen snorted reluctantly shaking Xu Shaochen’s hand.

Though Huo Chuan faced several charges the one he could be convicted of was kidnapping and abusing Zhao Qing.

This was backed by video evidence and couldn’t be cleared.

But if Zhao Qing wrote a letter of understanding this charge would largely be cleared.

The other charges lacked concrete evidence.

So Huo Chuan would be sentenced since the kidnapping charge was ironclad.

But he might get probation. As long as he didn’t offend during the probation period he’d be fine afterward.

But Zhao Qing was tortured so badly.

And Huo Chuan harbored resentment toward Xu Shaochen.

Would Xu Shaochen let him go so easily? No way unless he suddenly found religion.

The next day.

Huo Chuan’s case went to trial but with Zhao Qing writing a letter of understanding and not pressing charges he got probation.

“Dad.”

“Xiaochuan it’s alright it’s alright. Dad’s taking you home.”

Huo Chuan and Huo Shen hugged each other tightly both very emotional.

“What a touching scene what a touching father-son bond. I can’t take it my tears might fall.”

Xu Shaochen said sniffing theatrically wiping his eyes with a tissue.

“Xu, it’s all your fault…”

Seeing Xu Shaochen Huo Chuan looked at him as if he witnessed the one who murdered his father.

“Xiaochuan enough you’re making enough noise!”

Huo Shen scolded stopping him then looked at Xu Shaochen “Mr. Xu, my son’s lack of manners is a lesson I’ll remember. See you if fate allows.”

“No need for fate. Now I count as a major shareholder of Dahuang Group. We’ll often meet at shareholder meetings.”

Xu Shaochen smiled broadly.

He was curious to see what expressions Huo Shen and his son would have after discovering the change at home.

He didn’t plan to leave that last twenty percent of shares with Huo Shen.

He wanted to leave the father and son penniless back to square one.

“Dad, what does he mean by that?”

Hearing Xu Shaochen’s words Huo Chuan’s face changed looking at Huo Shen.

“You didn’t know? Your dad gave me twenty percent of his shares to save you. You’re truly a dutiful son.”

Xu Shaochen looked at him mockingly filled with praise and admiration.

“What!”

Huo Chuan looked at Huo Shen in disbelief as if struck by lightning “Dad, is it true what he’s saying?”

“It’s fine. It’s just twenty percent of shares. As long as you’re safe, it’s okay.”

Huo Shen forced a smile patting Huo Chuan’s shoulder.

“I’ll kill you, you opportunist!”

Unable to accept it Huo Chuan furiously charged at Xu Shaochen only to be stopped by his father.

“Go ahead, remember you’re on probation. Try hitting me?”

Xu Shaochen looked at Huo Chuan mockingly spreading his hands as if inviting him to hit.

“You… ugh—”

Huo Chuan couldn’t hold back coughing up blood.
