Chapter Index

    Time flew by.

In the blink of an eye, it was the end of the month.

The wedding of the little secretary Ye Ling and the Lin Family’s second young master, Lin Wei, happened as scheduled.

After Xu Shaochen’s birthday banquet, the Lin Family officially broke into Jiangzhou’s local business circle.

Moreover, the main wedding officiant was Xu Shaochen.

Thus, anyone in Jiangzhou who received an invitation was sure to attend.

Those who couldn’t attend would send their secretaries to bring gifts and leave their names.

The wedding was held at the Chen Yu Grand Hotel.

Because of Xu Shaochen, the Chen Yu Grand Hotel had become the top venue in Jiangzhou.

The Jiangzhou Grand Hotel used to be Jiangzhou’s most famous hotel, but now its place had been taken.

After completing the wedding formalities, the groom Lin Wei and the bride Ye Ling toasted guests table by table.

(The wedding process won’t be detailed, as the conscientious author avoids filler.) “Congratulations, congratulations, Young Master Lin! The bride is beautiful, you’re a lucky man.”

“Congratulations, congratulations, wishing you a lifetime of happiness and many children.”

    “Young Master Lin, Miss Ye…”

Lin Wei wore a smile, but a thousand wild horses trampled through his mind.

The bride was indeed beautiful, but it had nothing to do with him, the groom.

Having children was certain, but definitely not with his seed.

Ye Ling’s figure was already great, and she chose a fitted wedding dress that accentuated her curves.

Let’s just say it was as if she was ready to play ball.

After toasting around, Lin Wei took Ye Ling to toast Xu Shaochen, the main wedding officiant.

“Mr. Xu, I hope you’ll take great care of Xiao Ling in the future. I toast to you.”

Lin Wei said politely while looking at Xu Shaochen.

The others didn’t find anything amiss in these words, given that Ye Ling was Xu Shaochen’s secretary. Lin Wei’s words seemed normal.

But what they didn’t know was Lin Wei’s notion of ‘care’ was not workplace-related but rather bedroom-related.

“Congratulations, the bride is beautiful, I’ll drink first.”

Xu Shaochen smiled slightly, raised his wine glass to indicate, then drank it all.

Lin Wei twisted his mouth. I know you’ve had her first, but you didn’t have to say it out loud.

Ye Ling playfully glared at Xu Shaochen, not caring about the groom standing beside her.

Lin Wei ignored all this, keeping his smile steady.

“Xiao Wei, I had some urgent business at the company. I, as your elder brother, apologize for being late. You won’t blame me, will you?”

A young man in a silver suit approached, looking at Lin Wei with a chuckle, a hint of mischief in his eyes.

As Lin Family’s oldest son, he knew the inside story of the marriage.

In others’ eyes, his brother was lucky in love, but he was merely a cuckold marrying on behalf of others.

“Brother, what are you saying? I’m just glad you could make time to come.”

Lin Wei spoke with a smile at Lin Jin but felt cold inside, finding Lin Jin’s confident expression somewhat glaring.

    “Elder Brother.”

Ye Ling also greeted Lin Jin.

“Sister-in-law looks beautiful today. Here’s a token from your brother. Don’t think it’s too little.”

Lin Jin smiled, nodded, and handed over a ready red envelope.

Then he turned to Xu Shaochen. “Mr. Xu, if it wasn’t for you, my brother wouldn’t have married such a good wife. As a token of gratitude, I toast you.”

Hearing this, Lin Wei was furious. Lin Jin knew the inside story yet still said it.

Knowing all but still saying it, he was purposely humiliating.

“I’ve had enough for today, no more drinking.”

Xu Shaochen said calmly, knowing Lin Jin’s intentions.

It was his first meeting with Lin Jin, and he didn’t like him.

Whatever the case, Lin Jin shouldn’t act so cunning in such a setting.

It was not only humiliating Lin Wei but also mocking Xu Shaochen.

Moreover, why did Lin Wei willingly become a cuckold? Wasn’t it for the Lin Family’s sake?

Yet Lin Jin, the Lin Family’s eldest, mocked Lin Wei over this, showing his narrow mind and vision.

Typical of a self-important, small-minded person, perhaps even less than Lin Wei.

Xu Shaochen never gave face to those he disliked.

Lin Jin was momentarily stunned, then smiled. “I understand, then I’ll drink first. Mr. Xu, do as you please.”

He said, downing his drink in one go.

His smile was unchanged, but there was an unavoidable shadow in his heart.

“Mr. Xu, I have to trouble you to care for my daughter-in-law in the future. I’ll thank you on behalf of her.”

Lin Hao approached with a wine glass. He didn’t know what had happened, but seeing the atmosphere was off, he came to ease the situation.

“Director Lin, that’s too formal. Xiao Ling and I are like brother and sister. Taking care of her is a brother’s duty.”

Xu Shaochen said calmly, though he had taken care on the bed, sofa, desk, and sink.

“Oh, Mr. Xu, this is my son Lin Jin. This must be your first time meeting him. I hope you’ll take good care of him too.”

Lin Hao seemed to have suddenly remembered and introduced Lin Jin to Xu Shaochen.

His plan was for his eldest, Lin Jin, to be the Lin Family’s heir.

The relationship between Lin Wei and Xu Shaochen should transition to Lin Jin.

As for Lin Wei, being just a playboy waiting for meals was enough.

“Dad, Mr. Xu and I have just met.”

Lin Jin told Lin Hao with a smile.

Xu Shaochen nodded in acknowledgement. “Your son is indeed talented, Director Lin, you have two great sons.”

“Hahaha, not at all, Mr. Xu, you’re too kind. Just two disobedient sons. If they were like you, I’d be overjoyed.”

Lin Hao laughed heartily. Like many Chinese parents, he was modest about his children’s praises.

“You all chat, I have a friend over there to greet.”

Xu Shaochen said and then turned to leave.

“Dad, Brother, I’ll take Xiao Ling to toast the guests.”

Lin Wei also left with Ye Ling.

Only Lin Hao and Lin Jin were left.

“Dad, Xu Shaochen doesn’t seem to like me.”

Lin Jin frowned, still not knowing why.

“Rude! Who allowed you to call his name directly? I told you, if he doesn’t like you, find a way for him to like you.”

Lin Hao’s face darkened, scolding him unhappily.

    “Got it, Dad.”

Lin Jin answered perfunctorily. He didn’t want to flatter him.

Xu Shaochen didn’t fancy him, nor did he care for Xu Shaochen.

If he inherited Xu Shaochen’s wealth, he’d surely do a hundred times better.

Of course, he wouldn’t be foolish enough to offend Xu Shaochen. Just not initiating to win his favor was enough.
