Chapter 1058: Lin Jin’s Deep Hatred
by xennovelWhen Huo Xiao returned from the bathroom she found Lin Jin still waiting for her.
She felt almost dead inside. As a beautiful woman, she was incredibly annoyed by someone so persistent.
“Miss Huo.”
Lin Jin, lacking self-awareness, quickly approached with a smile on his face.
“Stop pestering me. I’m telling you, I like someone else!”
Huo Xiao wanted to be upfront with Lin Jin.
Lin Jin was unfazed: “Miss Huo, even if you like someone else, that shouldn’t stop me from pursuing love.”
Love knows no order, but people have moral senses.
Clearly, Lin Jin’s words showed a lack of morals. Thus, he wasn’t human.
“Oh, really? Are you sure? Do you know who I like?”
Huo Xiao tilted her head, a playful smile on her face.
Lin Jin said firmly, “No matter who it is, it won’t stop me from pursuing you, Miss Huo. I hope you give me a fair chance.”
“Want a chance? Then talk to my godfather. He’s the one I like.”
Huo Xiao smiled sweetly speaking with a breezy tone.
Lin Jin’s expression stiffened, his body frozen, as he dryly said, “Miss Huo, he’s your godfather.”
“You know he’s just my godfather, not my real dad. Why can’t I like him? Besides, don’t you understand what ‘goddaughter’ means?”
Huo Xiao dismissively said, continuing with her boldness, catching him off guard.
Seeing Huo Xiao’s righteousness, Lin Jin was at a loss for words.
“Hmph.”
Seeing Lin Jin speechless, Huo Xiao snorted proudly, perfume trailing as she brushed past him.
After Huo Xiao left, it took Lin Jin a while to regain his senses.
“Xu Shaochen, it’s always Xu Shaochen. Why can’t I get away from him!”
Lin Jin’s eyes shone with malice, gritting his teeth in anger, his breath quickening uncontrollably.
His fists clenched, veins bulging on his arms, deepening his hatred for Xu Shaochen.
To him, without Xu Shaochen, Huo Xiao would easily be his.
But now, he had to abandon that unrealistic notion.
“Why do you always get in my way!”
Lin Jin couldn’t control his fury and roared hysterically.
Passersby and waiters recoiled, looking at him as if he were crazy.
“What are you looking at! Look at your own damn business! Get lost!”
Lin Jin looked around, rudely and angrily yelling.
He feared Xu Shaochen, but did he fear these people?
“Hey, can you speak like a human? If not, just shut up since your mouth stinks, so don’t annoy everyone.”
A young man in a white suit frowned, slightly tipsy, speaking coldly to Lin Jin.
Those who could afford to eat here weren’t ordinary people.
Nobody would indulge anybody here.
“What, got a problem?”
Lin Jin, already full of rage, was unafraid and confronted the man.
“Ha, pretty arrogant. You don’t have three heads and six arms; where do you get the nerve to talk to me like that?”
The young man smirked, approaching Lin Jin with a challenging gaze.
“Screw you!”
Lin Jin cursed, channeling his anger toward Xu Shaochen at the man, kicking out.
“Ah!”
The young man already somewhat drunk, stumbled back two steps, falling over.
Lin Jin showed no mercy, rushing up to punch and kick the young man.
“Ah! Damn you, I’ll remember you!”
The young man lay on the ground covering his head, powerless before Lin Jin’s rage.
After a few minutes, Lin Jin stopped, panting, feeling much better: “Damn, thinking any nobody can mess with me? Who do you think you are! Pah!”
Spitting on the young man’s suit, Lin Jin turned and left.
The young man glared at Lin Jin’s back, eyes red.
The earlier fight was just a clash of emotions.
That final spit on him was a personal insult.
…
When Lin Jin returned to the private room, he sensed an odd atmosphere.
Not thinking much, he said to Xu Shaochen and Lin Hao: “Mr. Xu, Dad, sorry to keep you waiting.”
Saying this, he headed to his seat.
“Bang!”
Just as he was about to sit, Lin Hao kicked his chair, making Lin Jin fall to the ground unprepared.
“Dad…”
Lin Jin turned, looking puzzled at his loving father.
“Slap!”
A powerful slap greeted him, leaving him dizzy.
“You foolish thing, dreaming of what you can’t have! Do you think someone like you deserves Miss Huo?”
Lin Hao glared, cursing him, one hand dealing blows.
Publicly hitting Lin Jin, it was a ploy to show Xu Shaochen.
“Look, my son was wrong, and I’ve punished him harshly. Surely you won’t do more.”
Ultimately, it was to ease Xu Shaochen’s anger for Lin Jin’s benefit.
Or Xu Shaochen’s retaliation would be less ‘gentle’.
Hearing Lin Hao’s words, Lin Jin understood and quickly said: “Dad, I know I was wrong. I shouldn’t have thoughts about Miss Huo. I’m not worthy and won’t dare again.”
He inwardly resented Huo Xiao.
That woman must have told everything when she returned.
Otherwise, how did Dad know? “Alright, Director Lin, matters of young love are hard to explain. Why be so harsh? I didn’t mind.”
Xu Shaochen sipped his wine leisurely, stopping Lin Hao from further beating Lin Jin.
Hypocrite!
Lin Jin secretly cursed. If he were so kindhearted, why not speak earlier, instead of waiting until the end to say generous words?
Of course, though he thought this his expression showed gratitude.
“Thank you, Mr. Xu, for your magnanimity. I was overwhelmed by Miss Huo’s beauty, forgetting my place. Don’t worry, Mr. Xu, it won’t happen again.”
“Hmph! It’s lucky Xu Shaochen is broad-minded. Otherwise, you’d be dead a hundred times over!”
Lin Hao snorted, admonishing Lin Jin while flattering Xu Shaochen.
Relieved, he felt they’d passed this hurdle.
“Bang!”
Just then the private room door was violently kicked open.
