Chapter Index

Originally, a few bodyguards were about to move.

Hearing the name Xu Shaochen, their faces changed and they stopped.

They were from Pengfei Group, responsible for this cousin’s safety in Jiangzhou.

Though they hadn’t met Xu Shaochen, they knew who he was.

“What are you staring for? Didn’t you see I got hit? Get him! Kill him!”

Young Master Ye covered his bleeding forehead, glaring at Xu Shaochen and nearly hysterically roaring.

“Cousin, let’s wait for Master to arrive.”

The lead bodyguard signaled his companions, who quickly restrained the agitated Young Master Ye.

The lead bodyguard then respectfully said to Xu Shaochen, “Mr. Xu, please wait. Sorry for the offense. I’ll call my master now.”

He then took out his phone and called Ye Pengfei.

“What are you doing? Let me go, you bunch of traitors! Let me go!”

Restrained by the bodyguards, Young Master Ye kept struggling and cursing.

The bodyguards were quite annoyed. If we weren’t worried about being blamed for your death, we wouldn’t bother.

A few seconds later, the bodyguard hung up and said to Xu Shaochen: “Mr. Xu, our master is on his way.”

Xu Shaochen didn’t react and returned to his seat to eat.

A whole table of food, tasting quite good. It’d be a waste to not eat.

“Little Dad, try this. It’s delicious.”

Huo Xiao, carefree, served food to Xu Shaochen.

    “Not bad.”

    Xu Shaochen nodded.

In the large private room, only Xu Shaochen and Huo Xiao ate comfortably, occasionally interacting.

After the initial rage, Young Master Ye calmed down and stood anxiously.

Seeing the bodyguards’ attitude, it was clear Xu Shaochen wasn’t ordinary.

Did I cause trouble? No worries, cousin will save me. It’ll be fine.

Young Master Ye self-soothed, but sweat mingled with blood dripped from his chin. “Tap, tap, tap…”

    About twenty minutes passed.

With hurried footsteps, Ye Pengfei, sweating heavily, entered the room.

    “Master.”

The bodyguards from Pengfei Group greeted him.

“Cousin, you’re finally here. Look what happened to me. You must help me.”

Seeing Ye Pengfei, Young Master Ye felt he found a savior, inexplicably breaking free and crying pitifully.

His strategy was to stir pity and gain sympathy.

    “Slap!”

He was met with a loud, fatherly slap.

Feeling the burning pain, Young Master Ye was stunned. This wasn’t what he expected.

Normally, he’d cry, cousin sees he’s hurt, and wouldn’t blame him.

Instead, he’d plead to Xu Shaochen, protecting him. Then he apologizes, and all is well. This should be the right script.

Why hit me? Can’t you see I’m already miserable? No sympathy at all!

“You fool! After today, head back immediately. You’re not welcome!”

Ye Pengfei roared angrily, his face dark as a pot’s bottom.

After getting the call, he wanted to fly over.

Couldn’t believe his cousin caused such trouble on his first day in Jiangzhou.

    “Cousin… I was wrong.”

Holding his face, Young Master Ye muttered pitifully.

Ye Pengfei glared at him, then firmly said to Xu Shaochen:

“Mr. Xu, this fool is my cousin. Offending you was his mistake. Handle him as you see fit. I won’t object!”

Young Master Ye turned pale; his cousin showed no sympathy or conscience.

Xu Shaochen looked at Ye Pengfei, “Really? Then I want him dead?”

“Mr. Xu, it’s not that severe. He’s foolish but hasn’t reached that point.” Ye Pengfei struggled to keep his expression.

He planned to retreat but didn’t expect Xu Shaochen’s response.

Young Master Ye breathed a sigh of relief, realizing his cousin still cared.

He quickly approached Xu Shaochen: “Mr. Xu, all mistakes are mine. Ignorant as I was, I hope you’ll overlook a small fry like me.”

Though unsure who Xu Shaochen was, it didn’t prevent him from flattery.

Recognizing him or not is one thing; knowing how to flatter is another.

Looking at Young Master Ye’s bloody face and Ye Pengfei aside, Xu Shaochen relented.

“Anyway, you hit someone first. Negotiate compensation yourselves.”

He forgot about hitting Young Master Ye earlier.

“No problem, Mr. Xu. We’ll definitely settle it with Young Master Ye.”

Lin Hao quickly replied, content with the resolution.

“I’ll leave you to discuss the rest. Giving you space.”

Xu Shaochen stood with Huo Xiao, preparing to leave.

    “Mr. Xu, take care.”

    Everyone respectfully sent them off.

Only when their figures disappeared did they return to the room.

    “Young Master Ye…”

Lin Hao looked at Ye Pengfei, intending to apologize, then discuss compensation.

“Director Lin, no need for compensation. Our Ye Family isn’t lacking. It was a misunderstanding. Let’s end it here. I’ll take my brother and leave.”

Ye Pengfei interrupted, then left before Lin Hao could reply.

    “Ye…”

Lin Hao sighed, detecting Ye Pengfei’s disapproval.

Soon, only the Lin Family father and sons were left in the room.

Lin Hao’s gaze fell on Lin Jin.

    “Dad, I…”

    Lin Jin said nervously.

    “Bang!”

Before he finished, Lin Hao kicked him to the ground in fury.
