Chapter Index

    4 PM.

    Red Star Hotel.

Red Star Hotel is just a small hotel in Jiangzhou, located in a relatively remote area.

Usually, the business here is fine due to being cheap, and this semi-illicit hotel doesn’t require an ID card for a room.

But today, the Red Star Hotel is destined to be busier than usual.

    Ten minutes past 4 PM.

Xie Ru appeared with his girlfriend.

They were followed by three strangers.

The five headed towards the Red Star Hotel.

On the second floor of the Red Star Hotel, this scene fell clearly into Zhao Fu’s eyes.

Zhao Fu’s lips curled into a cold smile. Xie Ru, oh Xie Ru, you didn’t disappoint me. It’s not for nothing that I hold you dear.

Finally, you’re here. My fishing net wasn’t laid in vain. Hopefully, I can catch a big fish.

He closed the window, walked to the sofa, lit a cigarette, crossed his legs, and waited for the credit to come to him.

However, what Zhao Fu didn’t notice was that before Xie Ru arrived at the Red Star Hotel, the shops and streets around the hotel had an unusual number of people.

If someone had counted carefully from the start, they would find no fewer than fifty unfamiliar faces.

Unfortunately, Zhao Fu isn’t a local resident here nor is he monitoring the street every second, otherwise he would’ve noticed these sudden unfamiliar faces.

    On the roadside.

    Inside a nondescript black Passat.

Xu Shaochen sat in the back seat, legs crossed, waiting silently.

Zhao Fu waited for the credit to come.

He waited for Zhao Fu to be delivered to him.

    This Passat appeared nondescript.

But it was custom-built, fully armored.

Unless a large caliber sniper rifle or explosives were used, this car was a hard shell. Regular bullets couldn’t harm it.

The more money you have, the more you treasure your life.

On the surface, the Red Star Hotel appeared busy as usual, yet underneath, it was a turbulent sea.

Xie Ru and the three proceeded to the second floor of the Red Star Hotel, arriving at Room 7.

    The corridor was eerily quiet.

    Yet they seemed unaware.

    “Knock, knock, knock…”

Xie Ru knocked on the door while shouting “Zhao Fu, I’m back. Open the Door for me.”

    “Click—”

After a moment, the Door was opened.

It was Zhao Fu who opened the Door himself.

    It was like a signal.

Other room Doors suddenly opened, twelve hidden individuals emerged with Guns surrounding Xie Ru and the others.

Almost simultaneously, the three behind Xie Ru also drew their Guns.

In the blink of an eye, the once-quiet corridor was filled with rising and falling breaths.

“Xie Ru, can you introduce your three friends behind you?”

Zhao Fu, Cigarette in mouth, leisurely leaned against the Door frame, glancing at the three behind Xie Ru with a faint smile.

His plan of inviting the enemy into the trap was so easily completed, the mantis stalks the cicada. He felt intellectually superior facing the fool Xie Ru.

Xie Ru’s face was gloomy, speechless, looking very tense. Being in the center, if a fight broke out, he’d likely be hit by stray Bullets first.

“Alright, you three put down your Guns too. Three Guns against my twelve isn’t a fair fight.”

Seeing Xie Ru silent, Zhao Fu nonchalantly cleaned his ear, looking at the three for their response.

    “Tap, tap, tap…”

At that moment, hurried, chaotic footsteps sounded.

Hearing the footsteps, Zhao Fu’s expression changed instantly.

    But it was too late.

Being on the second floor was too close to the first.

In the blink of an eye, people rushed upstairs.

    The corridor was instantly filled.

“Really? Are we comparing who has more Guns or more people?”

Long Yi spoke calmly, stepping to the forefront.

    “Xu Shaochen’s people!”

At the sight of Long Yi, Zhao Fu recognized him, eyes almost bloodshot.

During that time, Long Yi and Long Er almost stuck to Xu Shaochen, making them hard to forget.

“Oh? Recognize me? Seems you’re an old friend of our boss. Too bad about the face-lift, I barely recognized you.”

Long Yi chuckled lightly, aiming his Gun at Zhao Fu: “Downstairs is ours too, don’t try to run. No need for needless sacrifice, have them lay down their Guns.”

Zhao Fu’s face was alarmingly gloomy, like swallowing a dead fly. Word by word, he said to Xie Ru: “Well done.”

He never thought Xie Ru would fall so easily into Xu Shaochen’s hands.

Nor did he expect this countermeasure, resulting in a sparrow behind the mantis playing right into Xu Shaochen’s hands.

All because of the trash Xie Ru!

This trip to Jiangzhou was initially against Xu Shaochen, but Xie Ru foolishly got captured.

And now it dragged him down too.

“Damn it! Still dare to blame me? Without your call, I wouldn’t be meat on the chopping block.”

Hearing this, Xie Ru was furious, instantly spitting at Zhao Fu.

He started this mess, yet now, he had the nerve to blame me!

    “Idiot!”

Zhao Fu squeezed two words through his teeth, surprised that his revenge ended before it started.

“We have plenty of time to catch up. For now, better follow my orders.”

    Long Yi coolly interrupted them.

    “Everyone, put down your Guns.”

Zhao Fu took a deep breath and said helplessly.

If Xu Shaochen were here, he could fight with a do-or-die attitude, at least to take revenge.

But Xu Shaochen, the coward, wasn’t around.

Further resistance would be a pointless sacrifice, utterly unnecessary.

    He loathed Xu Shaochen deeply.

    Minutes later.

Bound hand and foot, Zhao Fu was pushed into Xu Shaochen’s Passat.

At the sight of Xu Shaochen, Zhao Fu’s eyes filled with blood, his hatred evident.

Xu Shaochen looked at him with interest, unfazed by his anger: “Tell me, who are you really? You’ve done well with your appearance, but I don’t recognize you.”

“Xu Shaochen, I owe this appearance to you. If not for fearing you’d wipe me out, I wouldn’t have needed this makeover or a new name.”

Zhao Fu spoke through clenched teeth, each word squeezed out as if to break his teeth.

“You have my curiosity, but I can’t guess who you are. I have too many enemies. Your rank might not register.”

Xu Shaochen scrutinized Zhao Fu’s altered face. He found the figure familiar but couldn’t pinpoint who it was.
