Chapter Index

    “My father?”

Wang Kun seemed amused by a joke, his face showing a mocking smile.

“In his eyes, does this illegitimate child even count as his son? Just a free high-level thug.”

“If he truly considered me his son, he wouldn’t have used the excuse of rescuing me to attack Paradise Island recently. Frankly, he never cared whether this illegitimate child lived or died.”

Once someone lets go, they no longer pretend. They dare to say anything because there are no longer concerns.

“Boss… the boss has his reasons.”

Liao Wenzu weakly defended Wang Lan, being more loyal than a real son.

“Bullshit reasons! Do you even believe that crap? It’s obvious he gave up on me!”

    Wang Sheng rudely cursed.

    “Clatter clatter…”

At this moment, Long Yi walked in: “Boss, the restaurant owner is here.”

    “Let him wait outside.”

Xu Shaochen coldly said, then tossed the gun to Wang Kun: “Don’t waste time on him, deal with him.”

Tossing the gun to Wang Kun was actually a test.

If Wang Kun dared point the gun at him, the gunmen hidden upstairs would show him what a headshot means.

Wang Kun loaded the gun, stood up, and pointed it at Liao Wenzu.

    “Don’t…” Liao Wenzu was horrified.

    “Bang! Bang! Bang…”

Wang Kun expressionlessly pulled the trigger until the entire magazine was emptied.

    “Thud—”

Blood poured from Liao Wenzu’s bullet wounds, and he finally fell to the ground with a sense of unwillingness.

Zhang Lei and the manager, who heard the gunshots from outside, shivered.

    Xu Shaochen gestured.

The bodyguard dragged Liao Wenzu away, then cleaned the bloodstained floor, restoring everything to its original state.

“Transfer the funds. I’ll call your dad.”

Xu Shaochen said to Wang Kun, then dialed Wang Lan’s phone: “Good evening, Mr. Wang.”

“Xu Shaochen! What do you mean by this? Where is my son Wang Kun?”

It was obvious Wang Sheng and the others had informed Wang Lan of the situation.

“Don’t worry. Last time he left Paradise Island without a word, showing great disrespect to me as the host. I’m going to host him properly this time.”

Xu Shaochen replied casually, as if chatting with an old friend.

“You bastard! You want a fight to the death?” Wang Lan shouted hysterically, imagining Wang Kun subjected to inhuman torture again by Xu Shaochen.

Xu Shaochen moved his phone away, waiting for the shouting to stop, then said: “Mr. Wang, I told you before, at your age, you should take care of your health or you might die of anger.”

“Relax. I’m just teaching him a lesson so he learns not to run off again.

I’ll definitely release him back to you.”

Xu Shaochen paused, then casually added: “Oh right, that Liao Wenzu was annoying and lacked manners. I don’t like him, so he won’t be returning.”

“What are you saying? Xu Shaochen, are you looking for death?!”

Wang Lan roared in anger. He trusted Liao Wenzu completely. He was a close confidant.

But now Xu Shaochen had killed him, fueling Wang Lan’s rage.

“Alright, stop howling. Sounds like a donkey. Even if I’m seeking death, you can’t kill me anyway! That’s it, I’m hanging up.”

Xu Shaochen said nonchalantly and ended the call, then blocked Wang Lan’s number.

    “Transfer’s done.”

Meanwhile, Wang Kun completed the transfer.

Xu Shaochen called the company’s finance department to confirm, then looked at Wang Kun and said, “Take some injuries back for credibility. If you’re scared, I can do it for you.”

He bent to grab a fruit knife from the fruit plate.

“I’ll handle it myself. I feel like just getting beaten isn’t enough.”

Wang Kun said and took the fruit knife, cutting his left index finger.

    “Uhh—”

With a muffled groan, half a finger fell off as sweat beaded on his forehead.

“Wow, I meant to suggest getting beaten was enough, but this is better.”

Xu Shaochen hesitated, then gave Wang Kun a thumbs up.

    Wang Kun: “…………”

    You didn’t say so earlier?

If getting beaten was enough, why did you grab the fruit knife? Wang Kun internally cursed Xu Shaochen’s ancestors.

The show was put on. Regrets after the fact would make it pointless.

    “It’s all settled.”

Though Wang Kun’s heart bled, he outwardly remained calm, and left.

Watching Wang Kun leave, Xu Shaochen looked at the bloodied fruit knife, shaking his head:

“I was just about to use it to slice an apple, but you cut your finger instead. I can’t slice anything now!”

Hearing this, Wang Kun, not far away, felt a blockage in his heart, almost vomiting blood.

“Clean up and let the two waiting outside come in.”

    Xu Shaochen waved his hand.

    “Yes, boss.”

A few minutes later, Zhang Lei and the manager entered the living room nervously.

“Hello, Mr. Xu. Apologies for the late-night visit.”

Zhang Lei stammered, recalling the gunshots that still echoed in his ears.

As for the manager, he trembled, unable to speak.

Xu Shaochen remained silent, as if not seeing the two men.

    “Gulp—”

Zhang Lei swallowed, trembling as he placed a bag on the coffee table: “Mr. Xu, apologies for tonight’s inconvenience. This is a small token.”

    He then kicked the manager.

The manager finally reacted, kneeling instantly: “Mr. Xu, it’s all my fault. I was blind, a fool. I’ve learned my lesson. Please spare me.”

He kowtowed thrice, bruising his forehead.

Xu Shaochen opened the bag, revealing stacks of money.

He took six grand, left twenty bucks for the broken cup, and tossed the rest back, saying coolly: “I’m taking what’s mine. The twenty bucks for the cup.”

    “Thud!”

Zhang Lei, hearing this, paled with fear, collapsing beside the manager.
