Chapter Index

In the blink of an eye.

Manager Chen and four others were all taken away.

“Mr. Xu, I imagine you still have matters to handle. I shall take my leave first.”

Director Liu said to Xu Shaochen with great politeness.

“In that case, I won’t see you off. Take care, Director Liu.”

Xu Shaochen nodded and motioned with his hand in a gesture of farewell.

    “Please stay, Mr. Xu.”

Liu Han cupped his hands, then turned and left swiftly.

Xu Shaochen’s gaze fell on the trembling Secretary.

    “Mr… Chairman Xu.”

The Secretary held her skirt and shivered, pleading, “Chairman Xu, please spare me. I beg you, spare me. I’ll do anything you ask, anything at all.”

    “Put your clothes on.”

Xu Shaochen said expressionlessly. He had no interest in her kind.

After all, even though he had some lascivious tendencies, he wasn’t desperate enough to ‘eat anything that came his way’.

    “Mr… Chairman Xu…”

The Secretary was in panic. She thought Xu Shaochen not accepting her meant he wasn’t going to let her go.

Xu Shaochen looked at her coldly: “I told you to put your clothes on. Do you not understand human speech?”

“Yes, I’ll put them on, right now.”

The Secretary was startled and hurriedly put her dress back on, not caring that there were several men present.

“I don’t know how much money you took. Return all of it within three days. Besides that, from today, you are no longer an employee of Lotus Charity. Get lost.”

Xu Shaochen waved his hand. He didn’t bother to be serious with this woman. As long as she returned the money, he could act like nothing happened.

After all, this woman was just a Secretary, a subordinate of Manager Chen at most an accomplice.

Compared to the fate of those five guys, this was already giving her a break.

If she couldn’t return the money, a prison sentence would be well-deserved.

“Yes, yes, thank you, Chairman Xu, for your mercy. I will return the money.”

The Secretary was wildly ecstatic, knocking her head on the floor to Xu Shaochen before stumbling out of the office.

Even though most of the money she took had been spent, she’d find a way to gather enough.

This outcome was better than going to jail, after all.

“Long Yi, notify everyone. Meeting in the conference room in five minutes.”

    Xu Shaochen said calmly.

With those words, he quickly left the office heading towards the conference room.

    Second floor employee work area.

All employees witnessed Manager Chen and four others being handcuffed and taken away by the Police Officer.

It was as if it were New Year’s, everyone looked delighted.

“Damn, those bastards finally got what was coming. Let them jump, now they can’t.”

“Look at that sorry state of Chen the skinner. Makes me want to laugh.”

    “Glasses saw it coming…”

Suddenly, everyone fell silent because Long Yi appeared at the staircase.

“Everyone, meeting in the conference room.”

Long Yi said a single sentence before turning to leave.

Everyone looked at each other, then suddenly realized and hurriedly made their way to the conference room.

    Three minutes later.

The already cramped conference room was quickly filled to capacity.

With all the management taken away, the room was filled with lower-level leaders and employees.

There were many people, yet not a single sound was made. The conference room was ominously silent.

Everyone seemed to lower their head, but their eyes were actually on Xu Shaochen at the front.

    “Is everyone here?”

    Xu Shaochen broke the silence.

“Yes… Yes, Chairman Xu, everyone is here.”

A young man answered cautiously, with sweat beading on his forehead from anxiety.

Xu Shaochen nodded slightly, then gazed around the room, his cold eyes scanning everyone.

Everyone instinctively straightened up, knowing the big boss was about to speak.

Xu Shaochen began with a steady tone: “I imagine you all know what just happened. I hope you can learn from the fate of Manager Chen and the four others.”

“Lotus Charity is a charity organization meant to help the needy, not a means for employees to enrich themselves. Don’t reach out. If you do, you’ll be caught. I hope you remember this simple truth.”

“To maintain the day-to-day operations of the Yunquan County work group, the position of manager will soon be filled from above. The other four positions are temporarily vacant. By the end of the year, they will be selected from those present. I hope everyone will work hard.”

Boom! With this, the entire conference room erupted into chaos.

After all, for everyone, those four positions were opportunities to rise suddenly.

Lower-level employees wanted to climb higher, and regular employees wished to soar directly.

In an instant, the eyes of all employees were full of determination, seeing everyone around as a competitor.

“That will be all. Continue with your work as usual. Meeting adjourned.”

Xu Shaochen didn’t give many warnings because too many words weren’t intimidating; they only bred disdain.

The outcome of Manager Chen and the four others was the best lesson.

At least within this work group, anyone who thinks about embezzling knows Chen’s story by heart.

As Xu Shaochen finished speaking, everyone stood up to see him out of the office.

    “Let’s visit the school.”

After leaving the work group’s office building, Xu Shaochen instructed Long Yi.

In minutes, the car stopped at a school gate.

The gate had the words “Lotus Primary School” inscribed on it, alongside in red the three characters of Xu Shaochen’s name.

After all, the purpose of Xu Shaochen founding the Lotus Charity was not to be remembered for the charity but for his name.

“Sorry sir, non-students and non-staff are not allowed to enter the school.”

Xu Shaochen was stopped by the Security Guard.

    “Take a look back.”

    Long Yi said.

The Security Guard eyed him suspiciously then casually turned around and the first thing he saw was the photo of Xu Shaochen on the guardhouse wall.

Suddenly, he realized and incredulously stared at Xu Shaochen, his gaze shifting between reality and the photo.

“Oh my god, Mr. Xu, sorry, so sorry, please come in, please.”

The Security Guard was beyond excited, wanting to shake hands but feeling his hands were too dirty. He offered a half-extension before pulling back, settling on continually bowing.

Xu Shaochen couldn’t help but laugh and said, “Don’t make a fuss. I’m just here for a visit.”

“I understand, I understand. Important people like to travel incognito.” The Security Guard’s face beamed as he excitedly said, “Mr. Xu, I don’t know how to thank you. My son studies at this school.”

“Just trying to do what I can. Please understand if there are shortcomings.”

Xu Shaochen spoke warmly, with a gentle smile, appearing very approachable.
