Chapter Index

    “Bang!”

Liao Zhou furiously smashed the laptop on the floor, kicking the desk madly as he cursed.

“How dare they do this! How dare they!”

He never imagined they would really do something that harmed others and themselves like this.

Just to get back at him.

Is it really worth it? “Huff—huff—”

After venting his anger, he collapsed onto the sofa, loosening his tie and gasping for air.

    Looking around.

The entire luxurious office was in ruins from his mess.

Calming down, he took out his phone and called Xu Shaochen.

He had to resolve this privately and quickly.

This must not reach the courts, or he’d be utterly disgraced.

“Chairman Liao, what instructions do you have? If it’s about the incident a few days ago, no need to bother. We’ll have plenty of time to argue in court later.”

Hearing Xu Shaochen’s confident voice made Liao Zhou want to rip him apart. Suppressing his anger, he said “Chairman Xu, does it really have to come to this? I think we can still negotiate.”

“Negotiate? Sorry, I don’t think there’s anything left to discuss.” Xu Shaochen sneered, dismissing Liao Zhou’s words.

Liao Zhou gritted his teeth and said “I’m willing to hold a press conference to publicly apologize. Is that enough?”

His last words were almost a hysterical shout.

Even though doing this would be embarrassing.

But it was better than going to court.

Choosing the lesser of two evils.

“Those words show me your sincerity.”

Hearing this, Liao Zhou breathed a sigh of relief, a smile appearing on his face.

But then Xu Shaochen said another sentence: “Too bad, I choose not to accept.”

The smile on Liao Zhou’s face froze: “Why?!”

He was willing to hold a press conference to apologize, and yet Xu Shaochen still wouldn’t accept.

He had done this much already. Why wouldn’t Xu Shaochen accept! “Because I’m a person of my word. I just held a press conference saying I would sue you, so I must sue you. Otherwise, wouldn’t that make me a liar?”

After speaking, Xu Shaochen hung up and promptly blocked Liao Zhou’s number.

    “Beep—beep—beep—”

Listening to the busy tone on the phone, Liao Zhou sat on the sofa in a daze for a while.

Then suddenly realizing, he quickly redialed Xu Shaochen, but it was blocked. He couldn’t get through.

    “Bang!”

He angrily smashed his phone on the ground, breaking the new device into pieces.

“Damn it! You’re forcing me, aren’t you! You’re forcing me!”

Liao Zhou’s eyes were red, his face twisted in rage like a demon from hell.

    After a while.

He slumped back on the sofa like a deflated balloon, his face showing a bitter expression.

He had initially wanted to fight to the death with the other side.

In the end, he thought for a long time but couldn’t figure out how to fight to the death with them.

Because they weren’t on the same level.

Although they say the barefoot are not afraid of the shod.

But in most cases, the barefoot can’t beat the shod.

    He wasn’t barefoot.

He was wearing shoes, but Xu Shaochen was armoured.

How to fight? It felt hopeless.

    “Someone.”

    Liao Zhou yelled.

    “Chairman Liao.”

His secretary, who had been standing outside, walked in.

Though their relationship was close, the secretary still felt a sense of awe towards Liao Zhou.

Especially after hearing the yelling and smashing sounds from the office, she dared not even breathe too loudly.

“Get in touch with the media. I’m holding a press conference.”

Liao Zhou wearily rubbed his temples and said weakly.

The secretary wanted to ask why but observed Liao Zhou’s expression and decided against it “Yes, I’ll arrange it right away.”

After Liao Zhou announced his press conference, just like Xu Shaochen, the media’s response was overwhelming.

He benefited from Xu Shaochen’s situation. Currently at the epicenter of attention, and it was Xu Shaochen who put him there.

All reporters wanted to know how Liao Zhou would respond to Xu Shaochen’s accusations or how he would defend himself.

However, the first words out of Liao Zhou’s mouth left everyone astonished.

Gazing at the sea of reporters below, Liao Zhou laughed self-deprecatingly and took a deep breath. “I want to apologize here to Tianyu Games and Chairman Xu Shaochen, because I did some disgraceful things.”

Wow! All the reporters were buzzing, looking at Liao Zhou in disbelief.

They originally thought Liao Zhou would confront Xu Shaochen or defend himself against suspicions.

But what happened? Who knew Liao Zhou would start by admitting his mistakes, essentially exposing himself.

Ignoring the stunned media below, Liao Zhou continued his self-reflection, detailing how, after Xu Shaochen rejected him, he held a grudge and used unethical media to smear Tianyu.

Because there was no other path for him.

He was the mastermind behind the incident a few days ago, and that was almost a sure thing.

At this point, all he could do was stand up and admit his mistakes to restore his image.

Rather than stubbornly denying it, worsening public perception.

Moreover, it was a strategy to advance by retreating.

“What a move, to advance by retreating.”

Upon hearing the news, Xu Shaochen commented.

Liao Zhou admitting his mistakes publicly, apologizing and offering compensation, was a gesture full of sincerity.

If Xu Shaochen continued to sue, he wouldn’t be wrong legally.

Yet it might make him seem petty, lacking magnanimity.

“Boss, what should we do? Should we proceed with the original plan and sue?”

    Yuxiu asked, frowning.

“Let it go, it’s pointless.” Xu Shaochen shook his head.

This Liao Zhou was quite a character.

Unfortunately, his company was doomed to go bankrupt eventually.

Because Tianyu had something Penguin didn’t, so he was destined to be defeated by Tianyu.

Watching his company, which he built with his own hands, being slowly squeezed out by Tianyu, and being powerless about it, would likely be more tormenting for him.

When Penguin had its last breath, Xu Shaochen would step in to acquire it.

Liao Zhou would want to maintain his dignity to the end, so he wouldn’t want to sell.

But the directors of Penguin, wanting to salvage their last benefits, would surely sell.

That would be the most agonizing time for Liao Zhou.

Just like when Penguin was strong, relentlessly annexing emerging small companies.

Irrelevant to right or wrong, weakness is the original sin.

And in front of Tianyu, Penguin was so weak it was irresistible.
