Chapter 1150: You Finally Arrived
by xennovel“Not a single person here?”
Walking into the hotel Wang Zhanhang noticed the lobby was deserted.
He couldn’t grasp why but felt a nagging sense of unease filled his mind today.
“Young Master Wang, our boss reserved the entire hotel just for your welcome party.”
The middle-aged man who met them at the airport quickly explained.
Wang Zhanhang seemed reassured, nodding with a smile. “Old Song went all out. We’re not strangers, why so extravagant?”
As they spoke, the large group entered the elevator.
Moments later the elevator stopped on the second floor.
Wang Zhanhang led the foreigner out of the elevator.
His eight bodyguards were about to follow but were stopped by the middle-aged man: “Brothers, please use the elevator to the third floor where your hosts await. The second floor is for the bosses.”
The eight bodyguards looked at Wang Zhanhang seeking his decision.
Wang Zhanhang nodded understanding such arrangements often meant bodyguards didn’t share a table with the boss.
Besides the hallway on the second floor had Song Jie’s bodyguards posted at every turn. How could he possibly encounter danger?
With his signal, the bodyguards took the elevator to the third floor.
“Young Master Wang, this way please.”
The middle-aged man led Wang Zhanhang and the foreigner to the entrance of private room 8 offering a respectful knock.
“Thud Thud Thud…”
“Come in.”
A voice inside the room beckoned.
Wang Zhanhang frowned slightly as the voice didn’t sound like Song Jie’s.
But he considered the possibility that Song Jie had caught a cold which made his voice hoarse.
“Creak—”
The middle-aged man opened the door to the private room.
Wang Zhanhang and the foreigner stepped inside.
Once inside he saw more than just Song Jie and bodyguards; a young man in his twenties was also present.
“Ah, Young Master Wang, you’re finally here. I’ve been waiting.”
The young man, brimming with enthusiasm, greeted him warmly as he entered.
“Old Song, who is this?”
Wang Zhanhang glanced at Song Jie puzzled.
“Old Song, are you deaf? Didn’t you hear Young Master Wang? Introduce my identity properly.”
Chen Dongqiu turned sternly toward Song Jie.
Seeing this Wang Zhanhang became even more perplexed.
Who was this person?
Daring to admonish Song Jie in such a manner.
And Song Jie knew Wang Zhanhang’s status right?
Allowing a stranger to attend a welcome party organized for him.
Song Jie spoke with a pained expression, “Eldest Young Master, this is the Second Young Master of the Chen Family, Chen Dongqiu.”
“Chen Dongqiu!”
Wang Zhanhang’s face changed as he heard the name.
After all, Li Daoyu was killed by an order from east of the city.
“Hey, I’m here. No need to shout, Young Master Wang, I can hear you just fine.”
Chen Dongqiu smiled mischievously at Wang Zhanhang with a hint of mockery.
“Song Jie!”
Wang Zhanhang’s face turned menacing. He glared icily at Song Jie.
Now he understood the guards outside were not arranged by Song Jie but were Chen Dongqiu’s men.
If looks could kill, Song Jie would be torn to shreds by Wang Zhanhang by now.
“Thud!”
Song Jie’s legs gave out kneeling on the floor sobbing. “Eldest Young Master, I had no choice! He threatened me with a gun!”
“Hmm!” Wang Zhanhang snorted coldly. He looked at Chen Dongqiu. “What do you want?”
“Bang!”
Chen Dongqiu’s expression darkened as he kicked forcefully.
“Ah!”
Wang Zhanhang yelped clutching his stomach in pain as he squatted, his face contorted.
“I hope you speak appropriately given the situation, or you’ll regret it.”
Chen Dongqiu looked down at him with a contemptuous smile.
“Thud Thud Thud…”
The private room door was knocked.
“Come in.” Chen Dongqiu said.
A man in a suit entered pushing the door open: “Boss, the eight upstairs have been taken care of.”
Chen Dongqiu chuckled grabbing Wang Zhanhang by the collar raising him. “Did you hear? Your men are taken care of, so you’d better behave.”
“F***, can someone tell me… what’s… what’s happening?”
The foreigner who accompanied Wang Zhanhang stood trembling filled with confusion and fear.
He still didn’t grasp what happened.
Wasn’t this supposed to be a welcome party? Why is everything suddenly so chaotic? Chen Dongqiu released Wang Zhanhang dropping him, then shifted his gaze to scrutinize the foreigner. “You’re an important member of Tianqing, may I ask your role?”
He aimed a gun at him as he spoke, calmly smiling. “Of course you can choose not to answer but be ready for the consequences.”
“No, damn it! I’m American! You can’t treat me like this! You’ll cause an international incident!”
The foreigner’s face turned pale as he backed away, realizing the gravity of the situation.
“Splash—”
Chen Dongqiu nonchalantly picked up a glass of wine hurling it at his face. “To hell with international incidents! Do you know I’m in international trade?”
Yes, smuggling still counts as international trade.
“I’ll talk, I’ll talk! I’ll cooperate, just don’t hurt me.”
Soaked with alcohol the foreigner seemed calmer quickly agreeing to cooperate.
“Damn it, Professor, you can’t…”
Wang Zhanhang’s face turned pale, he struggled to stand despite the pain.
“Bang!”
Chen Dongqiu swung his gun striking him on the head.
“Ah!”
Wang Zhanhang yelped clutching his forehead falling as blood seeped through his fingers.
“Now that it’s quiet, you can talk. Don’t waste this calm atmosphere I’ve created for you.”
Chen Dongqiu’s tone was gentle as he looked at the foreigner.
“No, I swear to God, I… won’t hide a thing.”
The foreigner pitifully vowed, raising a finger in oath, trembling with fear.
He then slowly began: “I am a researcher in biological sciences…”
