Chapter Index

“Mr. Xu I really didn’t recognize you before, it wasn’t intentional, please spare my life.”

Lu Zhe begged Xu Shaochen, crying with snot and tears.

“Don’t wrong me! What the heck did I do to you?”

Xu Shaochen was annoyed, confused about what this fool was up to. He hadn’t threatened him so why was he so scared?

    “Mr. Xu…”

Seeing Xu Shaochen still speaking in sarcasm, Lu Zhe almost knelt to hug Xu Shaochen’s leg.

Invisible assumptions are truly the most fatal.

What he thought was never what Xu Shaochen considered.

Their conversation was never on the same channel.

“Go go go, roll as far as you can.”

Seeing Lu Zhe about to kneel, Xu Shaochen hurriedly drove him away.

    Is this guy crazy?

“Yes, thank you Mr. Xu, may you and Xiaoyu have a long happy life together.”

Overjoyed, Lu Zhe scrambled away almost tumbling.

    “Hey, your suitcase.”

Xu Shaochen called out, seeing Lu Zhe running so fast he forgot his suitcase.

    “Leave it.”

Lu Zhe said without turning back as if chased by wolves.

Life was nearly lost, why care for luggage? He knew what was more important.

    Xu Shaochen: “……..”

    This is Yunzhou University.

Neither teachers nor students seemed reliable.

After waiting at the entrance for twenty minutes, Long Yi and Long Er arrived by car.

    “Boss.”

Long Er got out to help Xu Shaochen open the car door.

    “Back to the hotel.”

Xu Shaochen said after getting into the car.

After encountering a bunch of weirdos today, he felt emotionally exhausted and wanted to rest.

    “Ring ring ring…”

His phone rang, revealing a call from Chen Dongqiu.

    Xu Shaochen answered: “Hey Dongqiu.”

“Mr. Xu what’s going on with you and my sister? Why did she come home so early?”

Xu Shaochen smirked; they probably hoped she wouldn’t come home tonight.

Knowing Chen Runzhong was likely nearby, Xu Shaochen guessed he prompted the call.

Xu Shaochen said, “Dongqiu, tell your dad I appreciate the kindness but it’s unnecessary, I’m quite annoyed by it.”

It was a chance to decline Chen Runzhong without speaking directly.

“Sure Mr. Xu, I’ll tell my dad it’s Xiaoyu’s loss.”

“Alright then, another call’s coming in, gotta hang up.”

Xu Shaochen ended the call, dialing Wang Kun back, as the previous call was from him.

    “Why didn’t you pick up?”

As soon as it connected, Wang Kun’s familiar voice came through.

“Just had to discuss something, what’s up?”

Xu Shaochen detected tension or excitement in Wang Kun’s voice.

“I did what you asked. The six guys agreed to support me. What next?”

Xu Shaochen chuckled: “Do you need to ask? It’s time to make your dad resign and give you the position.”

“That’s too hard. He won’t retire early or hand it to me.”

Wang Kun understood Xu Shaochen but used it as a formality.

“Quit pretending, you’ve planned this already. You just want my approval.”

Wang Kun’s pretense didn’t sway Xu Shaochen who bluntly called him out.

“Can’t you humor me? Even without a title, he’s still my father.”

With a hint of helplessness, Wang Kun spoke of his father without emotion.

Ignoring him, Xu Shaochen instead asked, “Help me check if my grandfather and your Tianqing have a history.”

Although Barron might know, there’s a chance he doesn’t.

Having Wang Kun check just in case was a prudent measure.

“I’ll try but might not find useful info unless I lead Tianqing…”

Before Wang Kun finished, Xu Shaochen hung up.

    ………

    America.

“Boss, the eldest young master has likely met with misfortune.”

A middle-aged man cautiously informed Wang Lan.

    “What did you say!”

Wang Lan’s face changed, standing abruptly, grabbing the man’s collar fiercely. “Say it again!”

The man went pale, sweating, forcing himself to speak despite fear: “Boss, we found out they took a sea route and should have arrived but there’s no news…”

Before finishing, Wang Lan interrupted angrily:

“Find news! Don’t try convincing me my son’s dead with baseless speculation!”

Not accepting his son’s fate without evidence.

“Yes, boss, please give me time, I’ll look for news on the young master.”

The man replied fearfully, cold sweat dripping.

    “Worthless! Go now!”

Wang Lan released his collar, letting the man stagger away.

Afterwards, Wang Lan angrily smashed everything on his desk.

Recent misfortunes built up his pent-up rage.

After trashing his office, Wang Lan was exhausted and sat heavily breathing in relief.

He took a deep breath, using a different SIM card to call Xu Shaochen.

Since Xu Shaochen had blocked his original number.

    “Hello, who is this?”

Moments later, Xu Shaochen’s voice came through.

“Xu Shaochen, where’s my son Wang Zhanhang?”

    Wang Lan asked seriously.

Xu Shaochen paused before replying uncertainly: “Wang Lan?”

“It’s me, where’s my son Wang Zhanhang!?” Wang Lan demanded.

Xu Shaochen scoffed: “Are you senile? Your son’s not mine. Ridiculous.”
