Chapter Index

Xu Shaochen was about to head home.

But someone always tried to disturb his peace.

    Mei Liangxin was calling him.

Looking at the Phone vibrating continuously, Xu Shaochen had no desire to answer.

Because his experience and instincts told him that Mei Liangxin never brought good news.

After all, if it were something good, that guy would hog it for himself. How could he possibly think of Young Master Xu?

In the end, Xu Shaochen still answered the call. He had no choice; a father has to look after his son, after all, especially since it’s his own blood.

“Shaochen, Chairman Xu, Oppa! Come save me! I’ve been arrested! If you don’t help me, I’ll have to stay in a holding cell!”

As soon as the call connected, Mei Liangxin’s wailing echoed through the Phone.

“Arrested? A crackdown?” Xu Shaochen hadn’t expected this to actually be good news.

“Yes, a crackdown. But I wasn’t with a woman this time. I was the director and the lead actor.”

    Xu Shaochen: “……”

“Call me Daddy,” Xu Shaochen demanded.

“What? Are you kidding me? Even if I have to rot in a holding cell, I, Mei Liangxin, will never do something so shameless! I have my dignity!”

“Fine, to protect your dignity, I’ll hang up now.” Xu Shaochen said smoothly.

“Daddy! I was wrong! Please come save me! I’m scared of getting…you know…in there!”

The moment before, Mei Liangxin had been speaking with integrity, but his tone instantly changed. The man who couldn’t stay tough for more than three seconds crumbled.

After hanging up the Phone, Xu Shaochen asked Long Yi to drive to the police station.

Since the guy had already called ‘Daddy,’ how could he leave his ‘son’ to suffer?

    ………

    Police Station.

    Interrogation Room.

“You’ve made your call. Now it’s time to cooperate with our investigation and give us a statement, right?”

Two officers were taking Mei Liangxin’s statement. One of them, a hefty man, spoke.

Mei Liangxin, wearing a mournful expression, said, “Officer, I’m a good citizen, a really good one!”

“Haha, I checked your record. Oh boy, not a day goes by without you being involved in solicitation at least a hundred times a year. Is that what you call a good citizen?”

The officer looked at him with a fake smile and spoke mockingly.

“Cough, cough. Officer, if you hadn’t told me, I wouldn’t have even known I’m this awesome.”

Mei Liangxin coughed twice, looking at the officer with a grin, rather pleased with himself.

After all, with such an ‘impressive’ record, there probably wasn’t anyone else in the entire country who could match him.

    “Bang!”

The officer slammed his palm down on the table and roared, “Enough nonsense! If you dare make another inappropriate video, we’ll lock you up again!”

“Officer, this is a huge misunderstanding!” Mei Liangxin protested loudly, his distress evident. “Do you know why I started making videos in the first place? It’s because every time I turned on my computer, all I saw were things like ‘Oh My God’ and ‘Yamete Kudasai,’ and every video was either *** or featured actress Takakura. Why should the glorious 5,000-year civilization of Longguo be brainwashed by Japanese AVs or Western porn? I swore to make a video like no other in history. On a small scale, I was boosting the entertainment happiness index of our citizens. On a larger scale, it was a cultural counterattack, taking the front line to promote Longguo culture abroad!”

“Oh, so you’re a hero now?” Both officers’ faces darkened, and their mouths twitched uncontrollably.

Mei Liangxin chuckled, “Not a hero, per se. At most, I’m just helping others for fun. It’s something I should do.”

“You can stop bragging now. Pay the fine. It’s your first offense, and since the video wasn’t completed or circulated, we’ll let you off with a warning this time. But remember, don’t do it again!”

The officer sternly reprimanded Mei Liangxin. Dealing with people like him was always a headache.

This guy was unlucky to get caught filming his own stuff after his neighbor reported him for making too much noise.

But Mei Liangxin always believed it was because his neighbor was jealous of his…endurance, which is why he reported him out of spite.

“Um, Officer, can I stay a bit longer?” Mei Liangxin asked awkwardly.

The officer was stunned for a moment and then asked, “What? Are you getting addicted to being here?”

“No, it’s just that I don’t have the money to pay the fine yet. My friend’s on the way to help me.” Mei Liangxin rubbed his palms together. Indeed, a hero could be cornered by a penny.

Remembering this, the officer asked, “Didn’t you just call your dad?”

    Mei Liangxin: “……”

“Damn you! Damn you! You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”

Over ten minutes later, Xu Shaochen arrived, paid the fine, and bailed out the ungrateful Mei Liangxin.

This was his first visit to a police station, and he saw quite a few ‘geniuses.’

There was one guy who spent 200,000 yuan in real money to produce 150,000 yuan worth of counterfeit bills.

Then there was the genius who tried to rob a bank early in the morning but arrived before the bank opened and ended up being caught by a group of janitors.

Xu Shaochen couldn’t help but marvel. He really didn’t know what was going on in these people’s minds. Maybe they were born with a missing circuit in their brains.

“There are more and more idiots.” Even Mei Liangxin couldn’t help but sigh.

“You have the nerve to call someone else an idiot? Look at yourself! You couldn’t even cover the fine. That’s just pathetic!” Xu Shaochen said in exasperated annoyance. With your audacity, how dare you criticize others?

“Once my demolition compensation comes through, I’ll have money. Then it’s time for the come-up, and I’ll sing at the top!” Mei Liangxin was still obsessed with his pending compensation, which was his ticket to overnight wealth.

Xu Shaochen nodded, “Hmm, I reckon most of your money will go towards paying fines.”

“Are you looking down on me?” Mei Liangxin asked, his expression serious as he stared at Xu Shaochen.

Xu Shaochen nodded, “Yeah, and you’re just realizing that now?”

“Haha! To be honest, I look down on myself too. What a bond, fellow kindred spirit! I didn’t expect us to share this common ground.” Mei Liangxin laughed heartily, wrapping an arm around Xu Shaochen’s shoulder in excitement.

When it came to forcibly building relationships, who could beat Mei Liangxin? The world might not exist if Mei Liangxin wasn’t born. The Dao would be lost forever.

    Xu Shaochen: “……”

“Bro, your shamelessness deeply moved me. Now get lost before I catch it.”

With those words, Xu Shaochen quickly walked to the car.

No sooner did he get in than Mei Liangxin followed and said, grinning, “Some say money is the litmus test of friendship. I didn’t believe it, but now I want to test…”

“No need to test it. There’s no friendship between us at all. As long as you don’t ask to borrow money, everything’s fine. But if you do, forget it.”

Before Mei Liangxin could finish his sentence, Xu Shaochen cut him off without hesitation.

“Don’t worry, I won’t ask to borrow money.” Mei Liangxin shook his head.

Xu Shaochen was stunned, staring at Mei Liangxin in disbelief, “Then what do you want?”

This guy wasn’t asking for money? Had the Sun risen in the west?

“How about lending me an ATM card instead? Any bank will do; I’m not picky.”

    “Get lost!”
