Chapter 128: Make Them Eat the Wreaths
by xennovel“Congratulations and best wishes, Mr. Xu, on your grand opening.”
“Mr. Xu, wishing you a prosperous start…”
Sun Hai and three others congratulated Xu Shaochen with broad smiles.
“Thank you, gentlemen, your presence truly brings glory to Chen Yu.”
Xu Shaochen swiftly moved forward to greet the four, observing formalities as expected.
“There’s no need for introductions, right?” Xu Shaochen asked with a smile, looking at the four.
“No need, Mr. Xu. I’ve heard a lot about Chairman Sun and Chairman Ye.” Li Ming said, eyeing Sun Hai and Ye Huaiyuan.
Sun Hai and Ye Huaiyuan laughed heartily, modestly downplaying the praise.
Then, the three of them simultaneously turned their attention to Han Tianxiong, their gazes filled with curiosity.
Han Tianxiong felt quite awkward. Compared to Sun Hai and the others, his status was much lower. While he knew them, they didn’t know him at all.
“Chairman Sun, Chairman Ye, Chairman Li, I am Han Tianxiong.” Han Tianxiong forced a smile, reassuring himself that this was a chance to network with powerful figures.
And what’s more, he’d be meeting three big figures at once.
“Oh, it’s Chairman Han. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”
The three greeted him with smiles but were puzzled inside. Who the heck is this guy? However, since he knew Xu Shaochen, they had to play along out of respect.
Next, everything followed the pre-arranged procedures. Xu Shaochen only needed to give a brief speech and cut the ribbon.
The first floor of the office building had been transformed into a venue for a small cocktail party.
“Mr. Xu, someone asked me to pass on a message.” Sun Hai quietly spoke to Xu Shaochen.
Xu Shaochen paused, “Oh? What might that be? Please, Chairman Sun, speak frankly.”
Sun Hai carefully chose his words before saying, “Mr. Xu, Li Hao, Li Yang’s father, approached me. He wants to apologize to you personally and hopes you’ll join him for lunch.”
“We’ll see,” Xu Shaochen replied coolly, the smile on his face fading.
Apologize to me personally?
Well, that depends on whether I allow it.
Seeing this, Sun Hai tactfully fell silent. He had delivered the message and there was no need to further irritate Xu Shaochen.
“Young Master Li sends four wreaths to congratulate Chen Yu on its grand opening!”
At that moment, a loud voice suddenly came from outside, drawing everyone’s attention.
A group of people approached, led by the energetic Li Yang. The one who had shouted was his lackey, Zhao Quan.
Zhao Quan was gloating inside. He couldn’t wait to see Xu Shaochen’s miserable expression.
Damn, a mere kid dared to hit me? This is what happens when you cross me! Behind Li Yang were four bodyguards, each carrying a huge wreath.
In an instant, everyone’s expressions changed, their eyes shifting to Xu Shaochen.
It was clear that Li Yang had come to cause trouble, and everyone wondered how Xu Shaochen would handle it.
Most people believed that Li Yang was in for trouble. Bringing wreaths to a company’s grand opening? And not just one, but four?
That’s a blatant slap in the face! There’s no way Xu Shaochen would let this slide.
Xu Shaochen’s face was as dark as a storm cloud, his knuckles turning white as he gripped his wine glass. He coldly asked Sun Hai beside him, “Is this what you meant by Li Hao wanting to apologize to me?”
“Mr… Mr. Xu, please calm down. This is my fault for getting involved.” Sun Hai broke out in a cold sweat, cursing Li Hao in his heart. Damn you, Li Hao, you almost got me killed!
“Who sent these ugly-ass flower baskets? Smash them all! Replace them with the wreaths I, Young Master Li, provided—they’re much more fitting. After all, we’re talking about a company on the verge of collapse.”
Outside, Li Yang arrogantly ordered his bodyguards to destroy all the flower baskets and replace them with the four massive wreaths.
“What’s this? I’ve already sent my gift but the Boss isn’t coming out to greet me? This isn’t how you treat guests!”
Li Yang sneered before strutting into the office building with his entourage.
But when he saw Xu Shaochen, his smirk froze instantly. A bad feeling crept into his heart as he stammered, “You… Why are you here?”
“Weren’t you expecting me to greet you? So, why wouldn’t I be here?!” Xu Shaochen coldly eyed him, as if staring at a dead man.
Boom! To Li Yang, those words hit like thunder. Sweat poured from his forehead as he bitterly realized, “This… Chen Yu… is your company?”
He had planned to vent his frustrations on Chen Yu after the humiliation he suffered from Xu Shaochen, but to his despair, Chen Yu turned out to be Xu Shaochen’s company.
In that moment, he wanted nothing more than to kill Zhao Quan. Not even investigating this simple detail had led him straight into the lion’s den.
Zhao Quan’s face turned pale, his body trembling uncontrollably. Judging by Li Yang’s reaction, he knew they had messed with the wrong person.
He was utterly panicked, especially since this entire mess was his fault.
It was Zhao Quan who had filled Li Yang’s head with exaggerated tales about Xu Shaochen’s actions, fueling his desire for revenge.
Now, neither Xu Shaochen nor Li Yang would let him off the hook.
The fear caused him to wet himself uncontrollably.
“Smack!”
Xu Shaochen stepped forward and slapped Li Yang hard across the face, gritting his teeth, “You’ve got some nerve!”
Li Yang’s face alternated between pale and red as he stood there, speechless. He was petrified with fear.
But begging Xu Shaochen for mercy in front of everyone? As the eldest son of the Li Family, his pride wouldn’t allow it.
“Long San, Long Si, give them some water and make them eat those four wreaths!”
Xu Shaochen’s cold eyes swept over Li Yang, Zhao Quan, and the other four. His tone was chilling.
The six turned deathly pale, fear clearly visible in their eyes. If they were forced to swallow those wreaths, they’d be as good as dead.
“Spare me, please! I’ll never do it again. Please, let me go!”
Zhao Quan dropped to his knees, tearfully begging Xu Shaochen for mercy.
The four bodyguards followed suit, kneeling and shaking, looking desperately at Li Yang. They hoped their boss would save them.
But Li Yang, barely able to protect himself, had no time to worry about them. He was shaking uncontrollably with fear.
“If you don’t want to die, eat. If there’s even a scrap of paper left, don’t blame me for what happens next!”
Xu Shaochen coldly threatened, kicking Zhao Quan to the ground, ignoring his pleas.
For a moment, the whole place fell silent. Everyone looked at the four giant wreaths and then at Li Yang and his crew. Many felt a twinge of pity for them.
This is what happens when arrogance leads to one’s downfall.
Even if they’d only brought one wreath, things might be different. But four?
“Tell Li Hao that if he wants to invite me to lunch, he can wait. I’ll go now.”
Xu Shaochen coldly instructed Sun Hai.
Sun Hai immediately called Li Hao, only informing him that Xu Shaochen was on his way. The matter of the wreaths was left unmentioned.
Listening to Li Hao continuously express his gratitude over the Phone, Sun Hai hung up and let out a sigh.
Blame it on having a terrible son.
