Chapter Index

“Everyone else has left, so why are you all still here?”

Xu Shaochen looked at Mei Liangxin, Zhang Wei, and Zhao Qing with a puzzled expression.

Mei Liangxin widened his eyes and exclaimed, “What the hell! I spent a few hundred bucks on this flower basket, and you’re telling us to leave without even treating us to a meal? That’s just heartless!”

“You’ve got a point,” Xu Shaochen nodded in agreement and then told an employee, “Go across the street and pack three lunchboxes.”

    Mei Liangxin: “……….”

    Zhao Qing: “……….”

    Zhang Wei: “……….”

They felt deeply insulted. Who serves lunchboxes to guests?

Did they only deserve a lunchbox? What a joke! At the very least, there should be an extra boiled egg! “Alright, he’s just playing with you. Let’s go, I’m treating today,” Liu Rushuang said, casting an exasperated glance at Xu Shaochen and then smiling at the three.

“Thank you, Sister-in-law! You’re way more generous than some people,” Mei Liangxin and the others quickly expressed their gratitude, despite not knowing Liu Rushuang and Xu Shaochen’s exact relationship. But judging by the situation, calling her sister-in-law was definitely the right move.

Hearing them call her ‘sister-in-law,’ Liu Rushuang blushed and muttered something under her breath but ultimately didn’t correct them.

“Let me introduce you,” Xu Shaochen pulled Liu Rushuang into his arms and pointed at the three, “This is Zhao Qing, the owner of a demolition company.”

“Not at all, Sister-in-law. It’s thanks to Mr. Xu that I can put food on the table. I’m no boss,” Zhao Qing puffed out his chest but wore a humble smile.

Next, Xu Shaochen pointed at Zhang Wei and said, “This is Zhang Wei, a lawyer. He’s a renowned young golden lawyer in the legal field.”

“Zhang Wei? Did you submit a resume?” Liu Rushuang seemed startled when she heard the familiar name.

She remembered the resume well because it was exceptionally impressive. A law graduate from a prestigious university, a golden lawyer at a renowned law firm who had handled numerous spectacular cases, often turning the tide in court. He had never lost a case since starting his career.

She was a little surprised at the time—why would someone this capable apply to be the legal department head at Chen Yu?

Now it seemed clear that it was all because of Xu Shaochen.

Xu Shaochen was also surprised when he heard this and looked at Zhang Wei.

Zhang Wei responded with a calm smile, “You have a good memory, Sister-in-law. Yes, I submitted a resume, applying for the legal department head at Chen Yu Company.”

Mei Liangxin and Zhao Qing suddenly widened their eyes, secretly cursing ‘bastard’ in their hearts.

This guy is too cunning! Who knew this seemingly straightforward guy could be so crafty? From now on, working at Xu Shaochen’s company, he’d be able to curry favor with him daily!

“Then let me formally notify you, you can start work tomorrow,” Xu Shaochen smiled slightly at him. If a talent like Zhang Wei was willing to join the Company, why not?

Zhang Wei was overjoyed, “Thank you, Mr. Xu! Don’t worry, I’ll definitely live up to your expectations.”

He couldn’t care less about the Chen Yu Company; following Xu Shaochen was far more important.

“Let’s go eat; let’s welcome Zhang Wei to Chen Yu,” Xu Shaochen patted him on the shoulder.

“Ahem… You haven’t introduced me yet,” Mei Liangxin coughed twice to remind everyone he was still there.

Xu Shaochen glanced at him and then said seriously, “Forget it. Promoting obscene content is illegal. Better introduce yourself.”

    Mei Liangxin: “……….”

He really wanted to curse Xu Shaochen out. So, according to you, should my face be censored too?

“Hello, Sister-in-law, I’m Mosaic… I mean, I’m Mei Liangxin, a good friend of Shaochen’s,” Mei Liangxin forced a smile as he introduced himself to Liu Rushuang.

After the introductions, the group went to a five-star hotel not far from the Company.

    “Good afternoon, please come in,”

As soon as they entered, a tall and beautiful waitress came over to greet them.

“Is there a private room available?”

Xu Shaochen asked as he surveyed the hotel’s decor.

This was his first time dining at this hotel. He hadn’t noticed it before when he passed by, but the interior design was quite unique.

The overall color scheme was minimalist and clean, with very few decorative structures, giving the place a grand and open feeling.

The waitress flashed an apologetic smile upon hearing his question, “I’m sorry, sir, there are no private rooms available at the moment.”

“Then the main hall will do,”

    Xu Shaochen responded casually.

    “Very well, please follow me,”

The waitress gestured for them to follow and led the five to a window-side table.

The five of them sat down around the table and ordered a few signature dishes recommended by the waitress, along with some smaller dishes.

“This place is pretty nice. The decor is well done. Other five-star hotels are often too extravagant; it ends up feeling oppressive,” Zhang Wei said, unable to help but praise the hotel’s layout.

“Yeah, it’s quite good,” Mei Liangxin nodded seriously, trying to maintain an air of understanding.

Even though he had no idea what was so great about it, since Zhang Wei praised it, it must indeed be good. Even if he didn’t get it, he had to pretend—otherwise, he’d look like a fool.

For example, that fool Zhao Qing was looking quite foolish right now.

Feeling Mei Liangxin’s disdainful gaze, Zhao Qing was annoyed. He sneered, “Oh? Why don’t you tell us what exactly is so good about it?”

Damn it, we’re all country bumpkins, so why act like a fancy husky?

“Uh… the floor’s terrific. They even thought to use watermelon seed designs as accents. It really puts the finishing touches on this white floor, adding a hint of liveliness. Clearly, the work of a master!” Mei Liangxin was momentarily at a loss for words, but when he looked down at the floor and saw the seeds, his eyes lit up, and he started talking.

Liu Rushuang couldn’t help but laugh, “That’s quite the unique perspective.”

“Thank you, Sister-in-law. It’s all about seeing the world from a different angle,” Mei Liangxin grinned. He hadn’t expected his nonsense to actually sound convincing.

Zhao Qing snickered, “But you shouldn’t say that when you’re looking through your ass. That’s not a watermelon seed design; someone just dropped watermelon seeds on the floor.”

As he finished speaking, he wrapped the seeds in a napkin and threw them in the trash.

“……….” Mei Liangxin’s smile instantly froze. Damn, this was awkward!

He wanted to strangle Zhao Qing. Was this guy sent by the gods to embarrass him?

Zhang Wei shook his head, looking at the two with contempt. Did these two idiots really think they could outshine him in front of Mr. Xu? Ridiculous.

Xu Shaochen couldn’t help but rub his forehead. He really wanted to disassociate himself from Mei Liangxin—this was just too damn embarrassing.
