Chapter Index

“Fake! It has to be fake! How could a student afford such expensive tea? Besides, who would be stupid enough to spend that much money on tea?”

At that moment, Zhong Jianwei stood up, pointing at Xu Shaochen with a sneer.

Hearing this, Xie Wei’s father and mother looked at Xu Shaochen with doubt in their eyes. After all, what Zhong Jianwei said made sense.

“It seems like your imagination is limited by poverty. I understand why someone as poor as you would think like that, but don’t assume everyone’s like you, using fake goods to deceive others.”

Xu Shaochen glanced at Zhong Jianwei, speaking with disdain.

“What do you mean by that? Who said I use fake goods? The gifts I gave to Uncle and Aunt are all genuine! I bought them at the Jiangzhou specialty store!”

Zhong Jianwei’s expression changed, feeling deeply humiliated, and he exclaimed in agitation.

“Really? If your watch is genuine, then are you saying the watch on my wrist is a fake?”

Xu Shaochen sneered, rolling up his sleeve to reveal the watch on his wrist.

The two watches looked similar, but the difference became apparent upon closer inspection. The one on the table was obviously a counterfeit, not even a decent knockoff.

Xie Wei’s father and mother’s faces darkened, their expressions turning to anger, feeling deceived and fooled.

“Fake… so what if it’s fake! Your tea is fake too! What gives you the right to criticize me!”

Sweat started to form on Zhong Jianwei’s forehead as he questioned Xu Shaochen while lacking confidence.

“Heh, young man, it’s wrong to lie to people. Besides, this box of tea is indeed genuine. The anti-counterfeit label is still there.”

Lin Youguo sneered lightly, casually directing his words at Zhong Jianwei.

“Well, I can’t believe I trusted you. Turns out you’re a fraud! Outrageous!”

“Exactly! You scumbag, get out! Get out of our house! You’re not welcome here!”

Xie Wei’s father and mother were burning with rage, glaring at Zhong Jianwei as if they wanted to tear him apart.

Thinking about how they had just been deceived by Zhong Jianwei and had even been hostile towards Xu Shaochen, the two of them felt a surge of anger.

“Did you hear that? Don’t use your pathetic perspective to judge everyone. Just because you’re a worthless thug who can only deceive with fakes doesn’t mean I am.”

Xu Shaochen looked at Zhong Jianwei and spread his hands nonchalantly. ‘Trying to challenge me? I have enough money to bury you with it.’

“So what! You’re just a spoiled rich kid who’s been living off your parents! What’s so great about that? I’m only 23, and this morning I got hired as the administrative manager at Chen Yu Company! Without your parents, you’re nothing!”

Zhong Jianwei gritted his teeth, glaring at Xu Shaochen with eyes full of resentment and jealousy.

    “Chen Yu Company?”

Upon hearing the name, Xu Shaochen smiled.

“Yes, Chen Yu Company! Ha, of course, someone as clueless as you might not know, but I can tell you on the day the company opened, even Sun Hai came to congratulate us. Working for a company like this, my future is guaranteed!”

Zhong Jianwei’s posture grew even more arrogant as he spoke. He had chosen to jump at the chance to work for Chen Yu Company upon hearing this.

“Future guaranteed? Don’t worry, you have no future. Chen Yu Company won’t keep someone like you. You can leave.”

Xu Shaochen’s lips curled into a faint smirk, his tone full of derision.

“Pff!” Zhong Jianwei spat dismissively, sneering. “Who the hell do you think you are? Some pampered rich kid. You can’t decide whether Chen Yu Company keeps me or not. You’re hilarious.”

Xu Shaochen gave him a slight smile, then took out his Phone and dialed Liu Rushuang’s number. “Did you hire an administrative manager this morning? Fire him. No reason needed.”

Everyone in the living room exchanged puzzled glances at this scene.

“Hahaha! You’re killing me! Fire me? Who do you think you are? You act the part well enough, I’ll give you that.”

Zhong Jianwei laughed heartily, his laughter filled with sarcasm and scorn, as if he had just heard the funniest joke.

    “Ring Ring Ring…”

Suddenly, his Phone rang. As he glanced at the screen, the smile on his face slowly faded, and a sense of foreboding crept into his mind.

Feeling unsettled, Zhong Jianwei shot a glance at Xu Shaochen before finally answering the call. “Miss Liu… Yes, yes, it’s me.”

“What! I’ve been fired? H-how is that possible? I haven’t even started work yet! Why? No reason?”

    “Beep… Beep… Beep…”

Listening to the dial tone, Zhong Jianwei stood there in a daze, as if his soul had left his body.

“I’m no big deal, just the chairman of Chen Yu. I’m glad you like our company, but I’m sorry to say, I don’t like you.”

Xu Shaochen lightly patted Zhong Jianwei’s cheek a few times, looking at him with contempt, as if he were watching a clown.

Upon hearing this, Xie Wei’s father and mother exchanged shocked glances, utterly astonished by the revelation.

Before Xu Shaochen and Xie Wei had returned, Zhong Jianwei had been boasting nonstop about how great Chen Yu Company was and how bright his future was.

But now they realized that Xie Wei’s boyfriend, Xu Shaochen, was actually the chairman of Chen Yu Company.

Recalling their previous actions, the couple felt a wave of regret wash over them.

They were terrified that they could have driven away this golden son-in-law and would have nothing left to cry over.

Zhong Jianwei’s face went from shocked to disbelieving, then finally to despair, deeply regretting his actions.

He had fought tooth and nail to secure the administrative manager position, only to be fired before even starting his first day.

“Why are you still standing here? Get lost!”

Xu Shaochen coldly ordered as he looked down on Zhong Jianwei.

Zhong Jianwei lowered his head, his face burning with embarrassment as he fled. Not once did he plead with Xu Shaochen, not daring even to say a harsh word.

“Mom, Dad, you’re not against me being with Shaochen anymore, are you?”

Xie Wei stood up, holding Xu Shaochen’s arm as she looked at her parents.

“No, no, not at all. We’re just happy for you two.”

“Uh, Shao… Shaochen, we were a bit harsh with our words earlier. Please don’t hold it against us.”

“Yes, yes, we were out of our minds. We’re so lucky that you’ve taken a liking to our Xiaowei. Earlier, we were foolish. Please don’t take it to heart.”

“Old Xie, what are you standing there for? Go get the fruits!”

The couple, with their expressions suddenly changing, had genuinely warm smiles. They scurried around, pouring water and serving fruits, doing their best to take care of Xu Shaochen.

In short, it seemed they were about ready to worship Xu Shaochen as though he were an ancestor.

Xu Shaochen, however, didn’t feel much of anything. After all, he wouldn’t be seeing the couple frequently in the future.

Though they had irked him earlier, it didn’t matter. Xie Wei would make him happy later. Tonight, he would make sure they paid their debt through her.

There’s a term called ‘all three holes in use’… Ahem, what was I saying? I didn’t say anything at all.
