Chapter 14: I’m About to Count It All

“Kid, you’re young, yet your tone is quite bold. Do you even know how much this car costs? And you dare to talk nonsense.”

The 4S Store manager sneered, looking at Xu Shaochen with disdain. If these two siblings had the money to buy this car, why would Song Xinran need to work here?

“Swipe the card!”

Xu Shaochen couldn’t be bothered to argue. He directly took out his bank card.

After all, he happened to like a Mercedes S500, and it was just a matter of replacing a car window.

“Kid, you really don’t know the immensity of the heavens. Let me tell you…”

“Smack!”

Before the manager could finish his sentence, Xu Shaochen slapped him across the face. “I told you to swipe the card. Are you deaf?”

Feeling the burning pain on his face, the manager was seething with anger. He glared venomously at Xu Shaochen. “Fine, fine. If you can’t afford it, just wait to pay the price!”

After saying that, he snatched the bank card from Xu Shaochen’s hand and handed it to an employee. “Swipe it for him! I want to see how much this kid can actually afford.”

The others were also watching the two siblings with schadenfreude, eager to see how they’d handle the situation.

Xie Wei’s beautiful eyes gleamed with a mysterious light as she watched Xu Shaochen. The way he had stood up for Song Xinran earlier made her heart flutter, filling her with an inexplicable sense of awe.

The employee took the bank card, gave the two a disdainful glance, and then lazily leaned the card against the POS machine. The next second, their expression froze, and they gulped nervously.

“Hahahaha, what’s the matter? Were you stunned by the ‘enormous wealth’?”

“Maybe it really is that. How much is in there? One hundred? Two hundred?”

“It can’t be just a few dozen ‘enormous sums,’ can it? Hahaha…”

Seeing this, everyone began to mock them, thinking that the card had so little money that it had left the employee dumbfounded.

“No… that’s not it. Manager, just wait a moment. I’m almost done counting the zeros. I’ve reached five digits already.”

The employee stared at the manager in a panic, muttering under their breath as they continued counting.

“What did you say?!”

The manager’s face changed as he heard those words. He grabbed the POS machine from the employee. When he saw the numbers on it clearly, his hand slipped, causing the machine to fall to the ground.

Immediately, the manager’s expression shifted dramatically. With a flattering smile, he rushed to Xu Shaochen. “Oh my, this is all just a misunderstanding! Sir, please don’t be angry!”

As he spoke, he turned to Song Xinran, feigning a scolding tone. “Xinran, look at yourself! Playing the underdog all this time, and we never figured it out. You’re the one who’s truly hiding your abilities. This entire misunderstanding is our fault due to our work shortcomings.”

Wow! Everyone was stunned, their eyes wide in disbelief as they looked at the manager, as if they had just seen a ghost.

They couldn’t believe their eyes. Why would the manager suddenly treat these two siblings with such deference?

How much money was in that account?

Several people exchanged glances, a bad premonition stirring in their hearts. They simultaneously moved toward the fallen POS machine. When they saw the number on the screen, everyone was utterly shocked.

“Twenty-nine… million.” The sales leader stammered. She used to boss around a multi-millionaire’s sister?

Xie Wei was also shocked—nearly thirty million? That was an enormous sum without a doubt! At first, she thought one point five million was the most it could be.

Everyone looked at Song Xinran in disbelief. If her brother alone had nearly thirty million, then what about her?

Thinking about their past mocking and teasing of a rich heiress, their faces turned pale with fear.

After all, ninety percent of people in this world wouldn’t earn even one-tenth of what Xu Shaochen had in their lifetime.

Even Song Xinran was stunned by that number. She looked at Xu Shaochen, filled with doubt, but didn’t ask anything immediately.

“What are you all standing around for? Go fetch coffee for the gentleman and Miss Song!” The manager snapped at the employees who were frozen in place.

“Y-Yes…”

Everyone snapped back to reality, quickly scrambling to brew coffee, serve snacks, and prepare seats, all now incredibly attentive.

“No need! Just replace the car window immediately. I want to take the car today!”

Xu Shaochen said impatiently. Watching the manager’s drastic change in behavior made him feel sick.

“No! That won’t do! A new car has just arrived this afternoon. We’ll swap out the entire car for a new one!”

The manager firmly replied. He decided to foot the bill himself to please Xu Shaochen. He would cover the cost of the broken window.

After all, he had seriously offended both Xu Shaochen and Song Xinran. What if they decided to retaliate? He had no choice but to go all out.

“Get lost!”

“Yes, yes! I’ll be gone immediately. Xiao Liu, assist the gentleman with the contract for vehicle pickup.” The manager quickly nodded, bending over in submission.

“Sister Xinran, you sure kept this under wraps.” Xiao Liu approached Xu Shaochen, trying to cozy up to Song Xinran while deliberately undoing two buttons on her shirt to attract Xu Shaochen’s attention.

If she could cling to Xu Shaochen, wouldn’t she be set for life? Xu Shaochen sneered, “Button up! Even if you lay bare in front of me, I still wouldn’t be interested. Your disgusting face puts me off!”

Xiao Liu’s face turned from green to white, flushed with humiliation. Yet, she had no choice but to swallow her pride and force a smile. “This way, sir.”

After picking up the car, Xu Shaochen drove away with Song Xinran and Xie Wei at a steady pace, since he hadn’t driven after getting his license.

“Phew—”

Watching the black Mercedes drive off, everyone in the 4S Store sighed in relief. After all, they were terrified that Xu Shaochen would retaliate against them. They had often treated Song Xinran with contempt.

“Who would’ve thought Song Xinran was actually a rich heiress?”

“Yeah, she hid it so well. If not for today’s events, who would’ve known?”

“Damn, good thing I only mouthed off and didn’t actually harass her.”

Everyone was full of relief, remembering Mr. Liu’s fate quite clearly.

Even though the two hadn’t seen each other in a while and had much to talk about, there was also Xie Wei in the car, so neither spoke.

Xu Shaochen drove straight to the Longteng Hotel and handed a room card to Xie Wei. “Sorry, I can’t accompany you tonight. Just check out by yourself tomorrow.”

Xie Wei gave Xu Shaochen a slightly disappointed look but wisely said nothing. She simply nodded slightly to Song Xinran with a smile and clicked her high heels as she entered the hotel.
