Chapter Index

“Hey kid, don’t go crying when we scare you.”

A Japanese guy walked up to Xu Shaochen, grinning wickedly as he spoke in broken Chinese.

“He’s not going to cry. He’ll be so ashamed he’ll want to commit seppuku. After all, he won’t even get a chance to shoot.”

    “Hahaha…”

A burst of raucous laughter erupted from the Japanese players.

    “Serve the ball.”

Ignoring the noisy, short players, Xu Shaochen tossed the ball to Zhang Qingsong.

“Hmph! Since you’re so eager to embarrass yourself, I’ll make sure you get your wish.”

Zhang Qingsong snorted coldly, walked to the sideline, and passed the ball to Xu Shaochen.

Even Zhang Qingsong could only suffer defeat. If Xu Shaochen, who didn’t even know how to play basketball, dared to show off, wasn’t he just courting embarrassment?

But Zhang Qingsong was fine with it. At least this way, Xu Shaochen would be humiliated alongside him, which was better than losing face alone.

“Sigh! Isn’t losing badly enough for us? Why must we continue playing?”

“Exactly, I know he’s good at studying, but damn it, studying doesn’t equal playing basketball!”

“This is ridiculous. Man, I can’t bear to watch the rest of this game.”

The students around the court who knew Xu Shaochen sighed continuously, showing little confidence in him. They thought he was being too impulsive and biting off more than he could chew.

    “Shaochen, you can do it!”

On the sidelines, Xie Wei cupped her hands around her mouth and shouted loudly at Xu Shaochen.

“Monkey from Longguo, is that your girl? She’s pretty. I’m going to beat you in front of her. Come on, see if you can get past me.”

Another Japanese guy walked up to Xu Shaochen, curling his finger in a taunting gesture, full of disdain.

    “Idiot.”

Xu Shaochen spat out two cold words. He glanced at the basket and casually threw the ball.

Seeing this, everyone was stunned. They couldn’t understand what Xu Shaochen was doing. Even if you’re trying to embarrass yourself, shouldn’t you take it seriously?

“Everyone, did this stupid Longguo guy get so scared that he can’t even hold the ball properly?” A Japanese shouted loudly, followed by another round of mockery.

    “Swish!”

Just then, the basketball followed a parabolic arc and went straight through the net with a clear swish.

Everyone was stunned, the smiles on the Japanese players’ faces completely froze.

The entire gymnasium fell into an eerie silence. Everyone stared at Xu Shaochen in a daze, as if time had frozen.

Standing at mid-court, he had casually thrown the ball, and it had gone in. Was this a movie?

“Why are you standing around? Score it! Three points.”

Xu Shaochen calmly told the scorekeeper.

Boom! Suddenly, everyone snapped back to reality, and the place was in an uproar.

“Holy crap! He didn’t even look, just casually threw it from half-court, and it went straight in! Amazing!”

“It’s just luck. It had to be. How could anyone make a shot like that from such a distance without even looking?”

    “Regardless, that was unbelievable…”

The Jiangzhou University’s players were equally shocked. They had struggled for a long time to get two points, but Xu Shaochen scored three as soon as he stepped on the court. How were they supposed to handle that?

“Hmph! That was nothing but luck. There won’t be a second time.” Zhang Qingsong’s eyes flashed with jealousy as he snorted dismissively.

The others nodded in agreement. After all, it was just luck. Otherwise, how could anyone be so accurate? Was he trying to defy nature?

“Damn it! How is this even possible? This Longguo guy’s luck is way too good!” The Japanese players couldn’t help but curse. Who were they supposed to complain to about such bad luck?

“Principal, it seems your student has pretty good luck,” commented the Japanese team’s coach indifferently, showing no emotion, as it was just a lucky shot.

But the leaders of Jiangzhou University were thrilled. After all, no matter how it happened, they had closed the score gap. It didn’t look so bad now.

Next, the ball was in the hands of the Japanese.

One of the Japanese dribbled up to Xu Shaochen and said coldly, “Longguo, your luck won’t last. I’ll make you see that a loser will always be a loser.”

With that, the Japanese guy leaped up, attempting a long shot like Xu Shaochen.

But in the next second, a shadow suddenly leaped high and slammed a hand down hard.

    “Thud!”

    “Ah!”

The Japanese guy screamed as both the man and the ball crashed into the ground. It felt as if his entire body was about to fall apart.

Meanwhile, Xu Shaochen grabbed the basketball, jumping from the free-throw line, and slammed it into the hoop with a vicious windmill dunk.

    “Bang!”

The ball went in, and even the backboard shook nonstop.

    “Nice!”

Seeing this, the entire crowd erupted in excitement, their faces flushed with enthusiasm.

“Damn, weren’t these Japanese guys so cocky? Let them try again now! After putting up with so much, it’s finally satisfying!”

“Exactly, that’s how you deal with them. Otherwise, they won’t know who’s boss.”

“The previous shot might’ve been luck, but not this time! Damn, that was amazing!”

Even the school leaders joined in the applause. That powerful dunk really boosted everyone’s morale.

The rest of Jiangzhou University’s team looked suspiciously at Zhang Qingsong. Is this the guy you said couldn’t play basketball?

If even he can’t play, then what are we? Idiots?

Zhang Qingsong’s face turned green and pale as shock overwhelmed him; he couldn’t say a word.

“Trash. As long as I’m here, you won’t score a single point.” Xu Shaochen let go of the rim and landed on the ground, walking up to the Japanese player he had knocked down. He looked down at him condescendingly and said, “Apologies, but you’re all garbage. You can’t even make me try my hardest. Playing against you midgets, who are like fish in a pond, makes me feel guilty, as if I’m bullying the disabled.”

“Damn it! I’m going to kill you!”

A Japanese guy, enraged by Xu Shaochen’s words, roared and charged towards him, ready to deliver a vicious kick.

    “Watch out!”

Seeing this, the crowd was startled and couldn’t help but shout. From the way the Japanese moved, it was clear he had practiced karate, and everyone was worried if Xu Shaochen could withstand this kick.

    “Fool.”

Xu Shaochen coldly smiled and threw a punch directly at the sweeping leg.

“Ignorant Longguo monkey! Die now!” Seeing this, the Japanese guy sneered. Trying to block his kick with a punch? Isn’t that just asking for death?

“Damn! Stop your player immediately!” The Jiangzhou University principal’s face turned ashen, and he roared at the Japanese coach.

The Japanese coach remained unperturbed and said indifferently, “Hey, Principal, don’t get so worked up. The kids are just playing around.”

    “Bang!”

    “Crack!”

The punch and kick collided mid-air, producing a dull thud followed by a crisp sound.

The next moment, everyone saw a horrifying sight as the Japanese guy’s leg bent unnaturally, folding in on itself at an impossible angle.

    “Aaaah!”

The Japanese player’s face turned deathly pale, huge beads of sweat rolled down, and he screamed in agony. He clutched his broken leg, rolling on the ground in excruciating pain. The scene was disturbing.

    Gasp—

Seeing this, everyone inhaled sharply, looking at Xu Shaochen in disbelief as if they had seen a ghost.

“Gulp—this…this is terrifying. He broke someone’s leg with just one punch.” Someone gulped, stammering in shock. Though his voice wasn’t loud, it was piercing in the dead silence.

No one spoke, but this person had voiced what everyone else was thinking. Their thoughts were filled with awe. Xu Shaochen was not only great at basketball but also an exceptional fighter. He seemed unstoppable.

“Damn it, Principal, your student has assaulted someone! You must take responsibility!” The previously calm Japanese coach suddenly stood up, furiously shouting at the Jiangzhou University principal. Spittle even landed on his face.

The Jiangzhou University principal remained indifferent, even smiling faintly as he calmly said, “Hey, don’t get so agitated. You just said it yourself, didn’t you? Kids are just playing around.”
