Chapter Index

Fortunately, the surgery was very successful, and no complications occurred.

Xu Shaochen and Xie Wei waited by Li Xiaoli’s side until she regained consciousness.

“Mom, how are you feeling? Is there anywhere you feel uncomfortable?”

Xu Shaochen asked as he looked at Li Xiaoli’s pale face lying on the hospital bed.

Li Xiaoli shook her head. “No, I just feel a bit weak.”

“That’s normal, Mom. Once you recover here at the hospital, you’ll be able to go home.” Xu Shaochen held Li Xiaoli’s hand, finally feeling a sense of relief after the days of worry.

Xu Shaochen didn’t leave the hospital with Xie Wei until Li Xiaoli had fallen asleep.

“Come with me to pick a gift. A friend’s daughter is having her coming-of-age ceremony tonight, and I need to attend.”

In the car, Xu Shaochen said to Xie Wei.

    After all, it’s Du Feng’s daughter’s coming-of-age ceremony tonight. He couldn’t show up empty-handed.

A woman understands other women best, so it’s necessary to bring Xie Wei along for gift shopping.

Xie Wei asked, “Do you have any other information? Does she have any particular hobbies?”

“I’ve never even met her. I don’t know anything about her, except that she’s a girl and that her family is quite wealthy. So, the gift should definitely not be cheap.” Xu Shaochen shook his head.

Xie Wei thought for a moment and then said, “Then let’s go with jewelry. Girls always wear some kind of accessory.”

Hearing this, Xu Shaochen nodded and said to Long Yi, who was driving, “Find a jewelry store.”

About twenty minutes later, the car stopped in front of a jewelry store.

Xu Shaochen let Long Yi and Long Er wait outside, and then he walked into the store with Xie Wei.

“I’m looking for a birthday gift for an eighteen-year-old girl.”

Xu Shaochen tapped the counter and spoke to the sales assistant.

“Sir, please take a look at these. They are all suitable for young girls as gifts.”

The sales assistant smiled at Xu Shaochen and then took out several diamond necklaces from the counter.

Since Xu Shaochen didn’t know much about jewelry, he looked at Xie Wei for her opinion.

Xie Wei picked up one of the necklaces, examined it, and then shook her head at the sales assistant. “Do you have anything else? Price is not an issue.”

They looked through many necklaces and bracelets, but none of them met Xu Shaochen’s standards.

“Get your boss out here.” Xu Shaochen said to the sales assistant. He knew that in stores like this, the rare items were usually kept hidden away.

The truly valuable items wouldn’t be displayed openly.

“This… alright, please wait a moment.”

The sales assistant hesitated for a moment, then flashed the two a smile as she turned to leave.

“Hello, you two! I’m He Chao, the owner of this store. How can I assist you today?”

A few minutes later, a portly, middle-aged man with a shiny, oily face approached them, smiling warmly.

“Boss He, your selection here is too ordinary. Do you have anything more high-end? Don’t worry, as long as it’s good quality, the price isn’t an issue.”

Xu Shaochen laid out his requirements directly to He Chao.

He Chao first gave Xu Shaochen and Xie Wei a quick glance, then looked outside at the parked Rolls-Royce before he smiled and said, “Young man, you’re asking the right person. I do have a few outstanding items here, reserved for discerning customers.”

To be exact, they were reserved for wealthy clients.

The reason for not displaying them was that most people couldn’t afford them, and it wasn’t safe. Keeping them in the safe was the best option.

“Bring them out for us to see. Preferably something like a necklace, since it’s a gift for a woman.”

Xu Shaochen nodded at He Chao, instructing him.

    “Please wait for a moment.”

He Chao turned and walked to the back room, calling out to the sales assistant, “Get some water for these two!”

After the sales assistant had just finished pouring the water, He Chao came out holding a wooden tray covered by a red cloth.

“You two, keep your eyes open.”

He Chao smiled with pride, clearly confident in the quality of the items he was holding. He then uncovered the red cloth with a flourish.

The tray had a black velvet base, and on it were two neatly arranged jade necklaces.

The jade pendants were emerald green, with a surface that seemed to glimmer and flicker, as if green liquid could flow out from within.

    “So beautiful.”

Xie Wei’s beautiful eyes widened as she murmured, seemingly entranced.

“These two necklaces are made from the highest-grade Imperial Green jade. Most customers don’t even get a peek at these.”

He Chao was very pleased with Xie Wei’s reaction, as it only highlighted the exceptional quality of the necklaces.

“How much? I’ll take them both.”

Seeing the captivated look in Xie Wei’s eyes, Xu Shaochen didn’t hesitate to purchase both necklaces.

He Chao paused in surprise and said, “Sir, you know these aren’t cheap, right?”

“Just tell me the price. If it can be bought with money, it’s just a number.” Xu Shaochen smiled lightly, unconcerned.

He Chao’s expression grew serious. “If you really want them, I’ll give you a flat price: seventy million for both. You can take them with you.”

He even unconsciously switched to using more respectful terms to address Xu Shaochen. After all, there are indeed many people these days who aren’t fazed by seventy million.

But those willing to spend seventy million on two necklaces are rare.

Xie Wei was startled by the figure. She tugged on Xu Shaochen’s sleeve and whispered, “Why buy two? One is enough.”

“The other one is for you.” Xu Shaochen smiled at her warmly.

Xie Wei froze, then was overwhelmed with emotion. Though she found it hard to let go of the thought, she shook her head and said, “No, it’s too expensive. It’s not worth it.”

“Dummy, it’s a gift for you. You can’t put a price on that. If you like it, it’s worth it.” Xu Shaochen chuckled, patting her head.

He didn’t have seventy million on hand right now, but he did hold 50% of Li Corporation’s shares. He just needed to take an early dividend.

Money isn’t something to be stingy about. Making money is for spending. Otherwise, what’s the point of earning so much?

Xie Wei was overwhelmed with emotion and her eyes turned red. She tightly clung to Xu Shaochen’s arm, biting her lip to keep herself from crying.

He Chao beamed and gave Xie Wei a thumbs up. “Miss, your boyfriend truly cares about you!”

Everyone else in the store, from other customers to sales assistants, looked at Xie Wei with envious, jealous, and resentful eyes. This must be what they call someone else’s boyfriend.

Looking at their own boyfriends who wouldn’t even buy a silver necklace, they couldn’t help but feel angry.

The difference between people is even greater than between humans and pigs.

If only Xu Shaochen were their boyfriend.

“Wow, honey, look at that beautiful necklace! I want it! I just must have it!”

Suddenly, a shrill voice echoed as a woman in high heels rushed over, pointing excitedly at the two jade necklaces and shouting at the middle-aged man following behind her.

The middle-aged man, who seemed to be in his forties with a bald head, glanced at the two jade necklaces and then nodded at the boss. “Take one out for me. I’m buying it.”
