Chapter Index

    “Ring ring ring…”

Xu Shaochen was driving when his Phone suddenly rang.

He picked it up and saw it was a call from Long San. He frowned slightly before answering: “What is it?”

“Mr. Xu, there’s a car following us closely from behind. They might have bad intentions. We’ll block them while you go ahead.”

Xu Shaochen had just spoken when Long San’s anxious voice came through.

    “Alright, be careful.”

Xu Shaochen didn’t waste time with unnecessary words. The bodyguards were there to protect him; otherwise, why would he pay them so much money?

The road leading to the villa district was quite deserted. After all, the villa district valued peace and quiet, so it was some distance away from the city. No wonder the attackers chose this spot to make their move.

    “Vroom vroom vroom…”

Xu Shaochen suddenly hit the gas, and the black Lamborghini shot forward like an arrow.

Moments later, his expression changed drastically as a white, unmarked van blocked the road ahead.

The most critical part was that two guns were sticking out of the van’s windows, aimed at Xu Shaochen’s car.

    “Fuck!”

Xu Shaochen cursed, gripping the steering wheel tightly, and floored the gas pedal, preparing to force his way through.

Stopping at this moment would only lead to a deadly rain of bullets, greatly increasing the danger.

    Bang! Bang! Bang!

    Crash! Rattle rattle…

The gunmen in the van saw that Xu Shaochen was speeding up instead of stopping, so they fired without hesitation.

Several bullets hit the windshield, shattering it completely. But Xu Shaochen didn’t slow down at all.

    “Damn!”

Seeing the fast-approaching black sports car, the gunmen in the van were shocked and quickly jumped out.

After all, their van was stationary, while Xu Shaochen’s car was accelerating at full speed. A collision would be disastrous for them.

    Bang!

Just as they jumped out, the Lamborghini crashed into the van, sending it sliding sideways. Despite the damage to the Lamborghini’s front, it didn’t stop moving.

    Bang! Bang! Bang!

The three gunmen got up and continued shooting at the back of the Lamborghini, but by now, Xu Shaochen was out of their reach.

“Damn! I didn’t expect him to be a lunatic.”

The three gunmen, all from Longguo, cursed through gritted teeth as they watched the Lamborghini disappear from sight.

None of them had expected Xu Shaochen to remain so calm and drive through such a dangerous situation.

If it were anyone else, they’d have panicked and hit the brakes immediately.

    Bang! Bang!

Just then, a few scattered gunshots came from behind them.

“What’s going on? Why are there more gunshots?”

The three of them looked startled and turned to glance in the direction from which Xu Shaochen had just driven.

“Let’s get out of here first.”

They hadn’t expected other gunmen to be nearby, so to avoid further danger, they decided to leave immediately.

    ………

By the time Xu Shaochen got home, his once-brand-new Lamborghini was in shambles. The front was severely deformed, the windshield was mostly shattered, and the body was riddled with bullet holes.

Even Xu Shaochen’s forehead had a few cuts from the broken glass, and his hands, gripping the steering wheel, weren’t spared either.

“Whoever you are, since I didn’t die, you’d better start picking out your burial plot. Don’t let yourself die without a grave.”

Xu Shaochen’s eyes glowed with intense killing intent as anger roared within him.

He wondered how Long San and the others were doing. They had only one gun between them. Hopefully, they made it back safely!

    “Boss.”

Hearing the commotion, Long Yi and Long Er from the neighboring villa came out. They were shocked at the sight of the ruined Lamborghini.

“Long San and Long Si are still behind. They might have gotten blocked. Go and meet up with them.”

Xu Shaochen looked at the two and gave orders before pulling out his Phone to call the police.

Since they didn’t have any guns, calling the police at this point was the right choice.

But just after he made the call, Long San and Long Si returned.

Both were injured—Long San had a wound on his arm, and Long Si had been shot in the shoulder.

    “Boss, are you alright?”

The two had clearly heard the gunshots coming from Xu Shaochen’s direction earlier.

    “I’m fine.”

Xu Shaochen dialed 120. Gunshot wounds needed prompt treatment.

    “What about the gun?”

Xu Shaochen looked at Long San and asked.

That gun was the one used to kill Liu Hui. Since this had turned into a gunfight, the police would certainly take it seriously. That gun absolutely couldn’t be discovered by the police.

Otherwise, it could lead to unnecessary trouble.

    “Boss.”

Long San handed the gun, now emptied of bullets, to Xu Shaochen.

Soon, the police and ambulance arrived. Long San and Long Si were taken to the hospital.

Xu Shaochen also received some basic wound treatment and had his bleeding stopped at the hospital.

Linda was among the first to hear about the incident. She immediately used her connections to put pressure on the relevant departments.

Given Xu Shaochen’s status, this was a major incident. Several leaders visited him, assuring that they’d crack the case and catch the culprits.

In the end, based on the accounts of Long San and Long Si and the preliminary investigation, the police concluded that the attackers were two separate groups who didn’t know each other. One group had sneaked into the country, possibly from abroad, while the other was suspected to have come from Yunzhou.

Jiangzhou would soon launch a city-wide crackdown, especially targeting foreign infiltrators.

After learning this, Xu Shaochen was sure that the overseas group was linked to the Xu Family’s old high-ranking members.

As for the group from Yunzhou, it was most likely Zhou Yun’s doing if there were no surprises.

However, Xu Shaochen didn’t tell the police this, as it would be useless. The police couldn’t do much about foreigners, and as for the Zhou Family in Yunzhou, if Zhou Yun dared to take action, he’d certainly cover his tracks well.

Moreover, Xu Shaochen preferred to deal with his enemies personally, sending them straight to hell.

“Boss, that was really dangerous this time.” Linda spoke with lingering fear in the hospital room where Long San and Long Si were resting.

Xu Shaochen patted her hand, signaling her to relax. “It’s alright. After this, those people will calm down for a while. At least they won’t make a move until the storm passes.”

“Sigh!” Linda sighed, her worry evident.

Xu Shaochen pulled out his Phone and called Zhao Qing, asking him to investigate the whereabouts of the three gunmen from Yunzhou.

They didn’t have time to leave Jiangzhou in such a short period, so they were definitely hiding somewhere. Obviously, it couldn’t be a public place.

Under such circumstances, finding people was better left to local thugs rather than the police, because the thugs knew these areas inside out. They might even consider them peers.

Sure enough, later that evening, Zhao Qing called Xu Shaochen to inform him that the three men had been found and were under surveillance.

“Don’t let my mother know about my injuries.”

After instructing Linda, Xu Shaochen left with Long Yi and Long Er.

Even though he only had minor injuries, if his mother found out, she’d probably worry for a long time.

After all, mothers everywhere tend to always worry about their children.

    Chapter Summary

Long San and Long Si return injured but alive. Police investigations suggest two separate attacker groups, one possibly tied to the Xu Family's old-guard and the other likely connected to Zhou Yun. Although Xu Shaochen refrains from informing the police about the suspects, he vows to take matters into his own hands, especially after his trusted aide Zhao Qing locates the gunmen.
