Chapter 189: Do You Think I Need Money?
by xennovel“You’re right. So, I have to deal with you first. Otherwise, I just can’t feel at ease about it!”
Xu Shaochen said with a grin, then asked Wan Liang, “What’s the name of his family’s factory?”
“It’s called Haiwen County Furniture Factory,” Wan Liang replied.
Xu Shaochen nodded and made a Phone call to Sun Hai, asking him to use his connections to investigate the factory.
Given Liu Wenbiao’s reckless style, that factory surely isn’t clean. It won’t withstand scrutiny, and once investigated, it’s done for.
“Your factory can close down.” After hanging up, Xu Shaochen said to Liu Wenbiao.
“Hahahahaha…”
Liu Wenbiao burst into laughter and said through gritted teeth, “You think I’m some coward you can bully? You say close, and it closes? Who do you think you are? I refuse to believe that your arm can reach all the way to Haiwen County!”
From his perspective, Xu Shaochen was just daydreaming. His family’s factory had been running for decades; how could it possibly shut down because of a single Phone call?
“Is that so? Well, let’s see then. Scare you? Don’t flatter yourself. You’re not important enough for me to waste my time.”
Xu Shaochen shook his head and sat back down again, looking at Wan Liang and Luo Juan, he said, “Let’s continue eating. Don’t worry. If I don’t deal with him today, I won’t leave.”
“Shaochen…” Wan Liang and Luo Juan looked at Xu Shaochen with gratitude.
Just as they were about to say some words of thanks, Xu Shaochen waved his hand, interrupting them, “Don’t bother with that! It makes things awkward.”
Upon hearing this, the two smiled. They were about to express their gratitude, but hearing this, they just kept the favor in their hearts.
Liu Wenbiao gritted his teeth as he watched the harmonious scene unfold, then let out a cold snort.
Thinking that a single Phone call could close down his family’s factory was absolutely absurd.
However, he couldn’t deny that deep down, he felt a twinge of inexplicable anxiety.
“Ding, ding, ding…”
About ten minutes later, his Phone rang. He picked it up and saw that it was his father calling.
“Dad, what’s up…” Liu Wenbiao was already furious, so his tone was less than pleasant when he answered the call.
“What’s up? You’ve got the nerve to ask what’s up! Where are you? Who the hell did you piss off this time, you son of a b*tch!”
Liu Wenbiao hadn’t even finished his sentence when his father erupted on the other end of the line, cursing him furiously. It was clear he was livid.
Liu Wenbiao was stunned, a dreadful feeling rising in his chest. Instinctively, he looked up at Xu Shaochen before asking, “Dad, haven’t I been busy with the restaurant lately? I’m at Wan Family’s small shop right now. What’s going on?”
“Just you wait! I’m coming over right now! Who exactly did you annoy this time? The quality inspection team shut our factory down for damaging the environment!”
“Bang!”
Hearing that, Liu Wenbiao felt as if his head had been struck by a hammer. His mind went blank. His father was still talking on the Phone, but Liu Wenbiao could no longer make out the words.
“Beep…beep…”
It wasn’t until the dial tone resounded from the Phone that he snapped back to reality. He felt disoriented, filled with disbelief, panic, and fear.
“Liu Shao, what’s wrong?” Liu Wenbiao’s henchmen exchanged uneasy glances, never having seen him like this before.
Liu Wenbiao ignored them, staring intensely at Xu Shaochen.
“Got good news?” Xu Shaochen asked with a calm smile, his eyes full of ridicule.
Liu Wenbiao swallowed hard, mumbling in disbelief, “How is this possible? How could this happen?”
Even now, he couldn’t believe it. His family’s factory, which had been operating for decades, had been shut down just like that.
Woah! Upon seeing that, Liu Wenbiao’s henchmen gasped in surprise, realizing that Xu Shaochen’s words had come true.
“Thud, thud, thud…”
At that moment, the sound of hurried footsteps could be heard as a middle-aged man, drenched in sweat, rushed in and slapped Liu Wenbiao across the face.
“Slap!”
“You b*stard! I told you to stay out of trouble! I told you to avoid creating problems! Now you’ve ruined everything for the whole family! Damn you!”
This man was Liu Wenbiao’s father, Liu Zhong, also the director of the furniture factory.
In the past, Liu Wenbiao would have talked back, but today, he couldn’t say a word.
Everyone else just stood there, stunned, watching the scene.
After beating him for a while, Liu Zhong gritted his teeth and asked, “Who on earth did you offend this time? Speak!”
Liu Wenbiao remained silent, his gaze fixed on Xu Shaochen.
“Sir, mercy! Please, give our factory a chance to survive. I beg you, it’s my ungrateful son who didn’t know better. Please…”
Without hesitation, Liu Zhong began pleading with Xu Shaochen, knowing that if the factory closed down, he’d lose out on millions each year.
“You idiot! Get on your knees!”
Seeing that Liu Wenbiao was still standing there, Liu Zhong kicked him to the ground.
“Thud!”
Liu Wenbiao knelt on the floor with trembling lips, and said shakily, “Big Brother, I’m sorry. Please, let me off the hook. I was wrong!”
He was full of regret now. Without the furniture factory, what was he but a nobody in Haiwen County?
He never would have expected Wan Liang and Luo Juan to have friends of such caliber. Otherwise, he would have acted differently.
Both Luo Juan and Wan Liang were extremely surprised. They never imagined that Xu Shaochen, a man from such humble origins, could find someone to help him out. He had truly become something else.
“Look at this, your son even pointed a gun in my face, and now you’re asking me to show mercy? Are you kidding me?”
Xu Shaochen threw the five-shot revolver on the ground and looked at Liu Zhong with a mocking smile.
“I…”
Staring at the five-shot revolver, Liu Zhong was speechless for a long time. He even felt the urge to kill Liu Wenbiao.
This kid carried those silly guns around all the time, pretending to be tough. But today, he messed with the wrong person, dragging the whole family down with him. He deserved it!
“Sir, no, Master! I’m willing to compensate. As long as you let us off the hook, I’ll pay any amount.”
Liu Zhong looked at Xu Shaochen, his emotions running high. The factory had to resume production. Every day that passed meant more losses.
“Do you think I need money? And even if I did, could you afford it?”
Xu Shaochen chuckled softly, his tone full of disbelief.
Liu Zhong’s face turned pale then flushed. Indeed, to Xu Shaochen, his money meant nothing.
“You want to resume production? Fine, but it’s not up to me. Just fix the problems at the factory.”
Xu Shaochen said casually, leaving them one lifeline.
Upon hearing this, Liu Zhong was crestfallen. The factory’s profitability hinged on its non-compliance with regulations. If they went by the book, their earnings would be cut in half!
