Chapter Index

    Inside the car.

“Kid, tell me, where should I start on you?”

He Changyu held a handgun, looking at Xu Shaochen with a playful expression, filled with the pleasure of revenge.

“Shaochen…” Xie Wei’s face turned pale.

But just as she made a move, a handgun was pressed against her head.

“Hey! Little beauty, don’t move. My guys here are using a gun for the first time, it could easily misfire.”

He Changyu looked at Xie Wei, smiling as he said this. He pressed the handgun against Xu Shaochen’s thigh. “How about we start here? What do you think?”

    “Do as you please.”

Xu Shaochen smiled calmly, gesturing in invitation, but the coldness in his eyes was as biting as a winter wind.

“Damn it! Why aren’t you scared? How can you not be scared! Beg me! Beg me to spare you, hurry and beg!”

He Changyu roared at Xu Shaochen through gritted teeth. He couldn’t stand Xu Shaochen’s calm demeanor because it was a direct insult to him.

Xu Shaochen just looked at him quietly, as if watching a clown jumping around. It was both ridiculous and amusing.

“Alright, fine! You won’t beg, huh? Then I’ll start with your woman first! Kid, have you watched someone else with your woman before?”

He Changyu said this through gritted teeth, reaching out to tear Xie Wei’s dress, his eyes filled with violence and lust.

    “Ah!”

Xie Wei’s face turned deathly pale with fear. She screamed and shrank back.

“If you dare to touch her, I’ll make your life worse than death.”

Xu Shaochen grabbed He Changyu’s outstretched hand, looking at him and speaking each word clearly.

“You’re trying to scare me? Come on, take a look at the situation now, okay? Don’t make me laugh.”

He Changyu sneered, then used his hand to slap Xu Shaochen’s face again. “My right hand got crippled because I slapped your face, but I’m gonna keep slapping. What can you do? What will ya do, huh?!”

    “BAM!”

Just as he finished speaking, there was a loud crash, and the car suddenly skidded uncontrollably.

The driver quickly hit the brakes, bringing the car to a stop by the roadside.

    “Damn it! What’s going on!”

    He Changyu cursed.

“Boss He, the car’s been blocked!” the driver said.

He Changyu frowned. “Damn it! Who’s got a death wish? Go check it out.”

As soon as he finished talking, He Changyu opened the car door and got out, leaving Xu Shaochen and Xie Wei in the car.

“It’s alright, don’t be scared. As long as I’m here, nothing bad will happen to you.”

Xu Shaochen held Xie Wei in his arms, gently stroking her head, and comforted her in a soft whisper.

Under Xu Shaochen’s comfort, Xie Wei, who had been filled with terror, finally calmed down a bit.

Xu Shaochen just sat in the car, staying still. Even though only two people were left in the car, keeping an eye on him and Xie Wei, he still didn’t plan to get out.

    “Brother-in-law, what are you doing?”

He Changyu looked at Han Tianxiong in disbelief. He hadn’t expected it would be Han Tianxiong who forced the car to stop.

    “SMACK!”

Han Tianxiong, his face dark, stepped forward and slapped He Changyu hard across the face. He roared, “Take his gun, control him!”

With his command, two bodyguards immediately rushed forward, taking He Changyu’s gun and subduing him.

As for He Changyu’s own bodyguards, none dared to move because, strictly speaking, they were all Han Tianxiong’s men.

They were only following He Changyu’s orders because he was connected to Han Tianxiong.

“Brother-in-law, what are you doing? Ahhh, my hand! What’s going on?!”

He Changyu could feel the pain in his bandaged right hand, as if it was being torn apart. His face twisted in agony.

“What’s going on? All I want now is to beat you up!”

Han Tianxiong grabbed He Changyu by the hair, glaring at him, his eyes bloodshot as he spoke through clenched teeth.

He really couldn’t understand what kind of damn relatives his wife had. Every one of them seemed intent on causing him trouble.

“Brother-in-law, I…” He Changyu felt his mouth go dry. Things weren’t going as he’d expected.

Han Tianxiong shot him a cold glance, then ran over to He Changyu’s car, respectfully opening the door. “Mr. Xu, please get out. That short-sighted fool has been dealt with.”

“He’s your relative?” Xu Shaochen asked with a smile.

With just that one simple question, cold sweat broke out on Han Tianxiong’s forehead, and he bent even lower. He responded stiffly, “Yes…he’s… my relative.”

“Don’t be so tense. It has nothing to do with you. Tell him to come over. Wasn’t he bringing me to see Jiangzhou’s night scenery?” Xu Shaochen said calmly.

Han Tianxiong waved his hand, and the bodyguards brought He Changyu over.

“Look at the neon lights over there. That’s the best night view in Jiangzhou. Do you think it looks good?”

Xu Shaochen pointed at the buildings on the other side as he asked He Changyu.

He Changyu didn’t say a word, because things had spiraled out of his control, leaving him nervous and panicked.

    “SMACK!”

Han Tianxiong slapped him hard again and snapped, “Mr. Xu asked you a question. Are you deaf?”

“It… it looks good.” He Changyu’s voice trembled as he spoke, a sense of dread filling him.

Xu Shaochen nodded, then said calmly, “I just said, take a good look because you probably won’t see it again.”

“Brother-in-law, save me! Save me!” He Changyu was instantly terrified, thinking Xu Shaochen was going to kill him.

Han Tianxiong said nothing, completely ignoring He Changyu.

After all, everyone here was an adult, and each had to pay the price for their actions.

Xu Shaochen grabbed the gun from the bodyguard standing watch in the car, raising the gun with an expressionless face.

    “Bang! Bang! Bang!”

Three shots rang out, one to each leg, and one to the left hand.

    “Aaaaahhhh!”

He Changyu let out a horrific scream and fell to his knees as blood gushed from the bullet wounds, twisting his face in agony.

“For Han Tianxiong’s sake, I’ll spare your life.”

Xu Shaochen looked at Han Tianxiong and spoke flatly before tossing the gun back to the bodyguard. “Take me to the Oriental Cinema. We’re going to be late for the show.”

    “Y-Yes… Yes, sir.”

The driver responded cautiously, exchanged a glance with Han Tianxiong, and restarted the car.

“Take him back and get a couple of doctors to patch him up.”

Han Tianxiong glanced at He Changyu on the ground and made a final remark before turning and getting into the car.

He was immensely relieved. Thankfully, he got there in time; otherwise, things might not have ended so simply.

No matter what, at least He Changyu managed to keep his life.
