Chapter Index

“Why… are there so few people here?”

Xie Wei was shocked to see that there were only about twenty people in the screening room. It was way too few.

What made things worse was that their seats were quite far off to the side and towards the back. How were they supposed to watch the movie from here? “I don’t know either. It’s all Long Yi’s fault. I asked him to buy the tickets. We’ll just have to make do!”

Xu Shaochen shamelessly blamed it all on Long Yi. He had bought the tickets himself and even deliberately picked these prime seats.

“There are so many empty seats in the front. Why don’t we move up?” Xie Wei softly suggested, not yet realizing how serious the situation was.

Xu Shaochen shook his head solemnly and said seriously, “Weiwei, what you’re suggesting isn’t right. Even if nobody is sitting up there, we still can’t take advantage of it. Self-discipline is watching over yourself.”

Xie Wei was a bit dazed by his words but nodded in a somewhat confused agreement.

She would soon understand why the seats were so remote.

“Honey, stop it, someone will see us.”

Xie Wei blushed and struggled, clutching onto Xu Shaochen’s hand tightly, refusing to let him continue his antics.

“Our seats are so far back and it’s so dark, nobody will see us. Come on, sit on my lap. I’ll hold you.”

Xu Shaochen grinned. This was what made life interesting. Every now and then, you needed to spice up the calm, everyday life.

Xie Wei rolled her eyes in a flirtatious way, biting her lip but eventually ceasing her resistance.

Hidden by the sound of the movie, everything was quiet and unnoticed by anyone.

“You liar, you scoundrel! I’m never going to the movies with you again.”

Catching her breath, Xie Wei adjusted her clothes and moved from Xu Shaochen’s arms back to her seat, giving him a fierce pinch while blushing.

“No problem. If you don’t like it, we can find another place next time. No more Cinemas.” Xu Shaochen smiled warmly, acting very considerate.

Xie Wei gritted her teeth in anger. “Go to hell! You’re so shameless.”

“What’s there to be embarrassed about? Look at the others.” Xu Shaochen pointed to another corner.

Following his gaze, Xie Wei saw a woman lying on a man’s lap with her head covered by a jacket.

If you naively thought the woman was just sleeping on the man’s lap, you’d be too innocent.

Xie Wei looked around at other seats and noticed many couples secretly kissing or touching each other. The dim light hid all these clandestine activities.

Xie Wei felt a bit more balanced, relieved that she wasn’t the only one acting out. Otherwise, it would have been too disgraceful. She blamed Xu Shaochen for turning her into who she was now.

After that, the two of them quietly snuggled together and watched the movie. Although they missed the beginning, they still enjoyed it.

After all, the beginning is usually just setup. The middle and end are where the real excitement is.

    “Bang!”

Just then, the door to the screening room suddenly opened, and four people wearing hats walked in, immediately turning on the lights.

At first, everyone thought nothing of it, assuming they were Cinema staff.

    “Swipe!”

The once dim screening room was instantly flooded with light, as bright as daylight.

“This is a robbery! Everyone stay right where you are and don’t move. If you don’t want to get hurt, do as we say!”

One of the robbers, a burly man at the front holding a watermelon knife, shouted at the top of his lungs.

    “Aaaahhhh!”

Everyone was stunned by the sudden situation. Once they realized what was happening, they let out piercing screams.

The couples who had been secretly making out were especially affected. The shock probably left them with enduring psychological scars.

“Shaochen!” Xie Wei grabbed Xu Shaochen’s hand tightly.

Xu Shaochen shook his head, signaling her not to worry. He softly said, “It’s okay, just cooperate with them. They probably only want money; they won’t hurt anyone.”

Long Yi and Long Er were both outside the Cinema. Otherwise, things wouldn’t feel so dire.

The four of them all had knives. If he were alone, Xu Shaochen would still feel confident enough to take them on.

But needing to protect Xie Wei meant he couldn’t take any chances. There was no need to be reckless; better to lose some money and avoid disaster.

Of course, even if these four guys took the money, Xu Shaochen was determined to ensure they wouldn’t leave Jiangzhou.

But for safety’s sake, he took advantage of the chaos and sent a quick text to Long Yi. Whether Long Yi saw it would depend entirely on luck.

“Shut up! Everyone shut up! We four brothers only want your money, not your lives. But if anyone dares to resist, the knives in our hands aren’t just for show!”

The head robber shouted again as he saw the crowd panicking.

In an instant, everyone fell silent, sitting frozen in their seats. Their trembling shoulders revealed their inner fear and panic.

“Good, very good. Everyone’s cooperating. That’s better for all of us. Now, everyone, put your phones, watches, rings, necklaces, and cash into the bags in front of you.”

As the leader finished speaking, two men behind him stepped forward, each holding a black bag, walking up the aisles to collect everyone’s belongings.

Another man stood by the doorway as a lookout, while the leader remained vigilant, watching the crowd closely to prevent anyone from secretly calling for help.

Unless absolutely necessary, Xu Shaochen wasn’t planning to confront the robbers at this point.

But sometimes, things just don’t go as planned.

    Like now, for example.

“Hey, you! Yeah, you! Get up!”

One of the robbers walked to Xu Shaochen and greedily eyed Xie Wei. He pointed his watermelon knife at Xu Shaochen, signaling for him to stand up and move aside.

“Look, I can give you the money, but if you take it and still want to touch my girlfriend, isn’t that crossing the line?” Xu Shaochen narrowed his eyes slightly, speaking calmly to the robber.

“Hahaha! Who do you think you are? Consider yourself lucky that I want your girlfriend! You’ll get to see what it’s like when she’s with another man. Now, move!”

The robber burst out laughing at Xu Shaochen’s words. The thought of Xie Wei begging under him while Xu Shaochen watched in helpless rage thrilled him, making his eyes light up with excitement.

    “Hahahahah!”

The other three robbers also laughed, treating it as a joke. To them, this was perfectly normal.

In their line of work, lives were always at risk. Finding a woman to let off steam during a job wasn’t unusual at all.
