Chapter Index

    11:30 P.M.

Xu Shaochen drove Xie Wei back to the school and then headed home.

Upon arriving home, Xu Shaochen noticed there was a new piano in his house.

    “Did you buy this?”

Xu Shaochen walked up to it, gently stroking the smooth surface of the piano as he directed the question at Linda.

Even though he couldn’t play the piano, he recognized the brand. It was a Fazioli Brunei, with a market price of 400,000 dollars.

Linda nodded, “I bought it, but it’s not for me to use.”

“Then who will use it?” Xu Shaochen asked instinctively.

Linda looked at Xu Shaochen and smiled faintly.

Xu Shaochen was taken aback, “Me? Are you joking? I could barely manage to strum a guitar, let alone play a piano. You might as well ask me to pick cotton instead because I don’t know how to play either.”

“Dear Boss, if you don’t know how to play, you can learn. I’ll teach you step by step.” Linda stood up from the sofa and walked towards Xu Shaochen in a cat-like manner.

Xu Shaochen frowned, “Why didn’t you consult me first? And even if I were to learn piano, there’s no need to buy such an expensive one!”

400,000 dollars, over 2 million yuan, spent on a piano—it felt excessive to Xu Shaochen.

Linda shrugged slightly, expressing some helplessness as she said, “This was a direct order from President Jenny. You’re not only going to learn piano but also violin and various forms of etiquette to cultivate your own personal charm. The future president of the Xu Corporation must be well-versed in these things.”

“You don’t need to master everything, but you need to be knowledgeable about different topics—from red wine to art. In any setting, you should be able to contribute to the conversation, even if just a little.”

Xu Shaochen could foresee that his future days were going to be a challenge.

However, he didn’t refuse because he saw this as a great opportunity to improve himself.

Only by constantly improving oneself can one avoid being left behind.

“I’m becoming more and more intrigued by Jenny,” Xu Shaochen said, stroking his chin. Jenny truly had his best interests at heart.

Could it be that she’s my grandfather’s mistress? That would be horrifying.

Linda just smiled without saying anything, not touching that topic: “I’ll set up your schedule. We’ll hire professional teachers to teach you each subject.”

After saying this, Linda sat down at the piano, her slender, delicate fingers began dancing across the keys. The music was sometimes smooth and melodious, sometimes as fast as lightning, rising and falling, completely immersing the listener in the world of music.

    “Clap! Clap! Clap!”

As the piece ended, Xu Shaochen clapped sincerely, praising, “I didn’t realize you played the piano so well.”

Xu Shaochen didn’t know what level of piano playing counted as ‘good’, but he knew that Linda’s playing sounded pleasant to him. That was enough for him to consider it ‘good’.

“Thank you for the compliment, Boss. It’s thanks to my mother that I can play.” Linda smiled sweetly and stood up.

Xu Shaochen yawned, “Is yoga also thanks to your mom? I should call her and thank her; she really raised a wonderful daughter.”

    Linda: “………”

“Boss, you’re too wicked.” Linda, of course, could hear the underlying meaning.

Xu Shaochen went upstairs to sleep, naturally taking Linda along with him.

    ……………

    Early morning.

Xu Shaochen first drove to the police station to pick up Long Yi and Long Er.

“How are you? Everything okay?” Xu Shaochen asked as he looked at both of them.

The two exchanged glances and then nodded, “Boss, the police officers were very polite, and the inmates in the detention center were very kind.”

“Mr. Xu, your two bodyguards beat up all the inmates in the detention center last night. They almost didn’t make it out this morning…” A policeman shook his head in resignation as he spoke to Xu Shaochen.

    Xu Shaochen: “………”

So this is what Long Yi and Long Er meant by ‘very kind’?

How could they not be kind when you beat them into submission?

Long Yi and Long Er felt a little guilty and looked away.

“Thank you for your trouble, Officer,” Xu Shaochen thanked the policeman and then left with Long Yi and Long Er.

Arriving at the school, Xu Shaochen told the two to grab breakfast at a roadside stall while he walked through the school gate.

“Xu Shaochen, did you just finish paying respects at your father’s grave?”

A pleasant voice called out. Zhao Qingyu walked over, dressed in a white suit paired with a pencil skirt, holding a book in her arms, which pushed up her impressive chest.

Xu Shaochen’s eyes lit up as he looked at Zhao Qingyu and said, “Teacher Zhao, you look stunning today.”

It was the first time he’d seen Zhao Qingyu in a professional outfit. She really looked spectacular—sexy, intellectual, and elegant.

“So I wasn’t pretty before?” Zhao Qingyu teased. It was only when Xu Shaochen asked her for leave that she learned his father had passed away.

Thinking about his sick mother, yet how he still managed to keep up with his studies and start such a big company in his spare time—how exhausting that must be! In that moment, Zhao Qingyu’s motherly instincts kicked in. She looked at Xu Shaochen with soft and pitiful eyes.

With that in mind, though he often skipped classes, she found it more understandable.

Xu Shaochen smiled, “How could that be? Teacher Zhao has always been the most beautiful woman in my eyes. I’ve always wanted to have a girlfriend like Teacher Zhao.”

“Ha ha, get lost.” Zhao Qingyu shot back in annoyance. He was obviously lying with his eyes wide open. Did he think Miss Zhao didn’t know that Xie Wei was his girlfriend? He talked about preferring mature women, yet he was hugging a youthful beauty. Men are such hypocrites.

So, you like Miss Zhao? Ha, what you really mean is that you want to ‘conquer’ Miss Zhao.

Zhao Qingyu immediately saw through his words to the underlying intent.

Xu Shaochen gave a wry smile. Was Teacher Zhao on her period? How else could her mood change as quickly as the weather in January?

“Teacher Zhao, your little brother is doing well at the company. I’m thinking of giving him a raise.” Xu Shaochen tried to change the subject.

Zhao Qingyu’s eyes instantly brightened, “Really?”

She didn’t even mind the way he addressed her because even if she corrected him, it wouldn’t matter.

“Of course, Teacher Zhao. The company has decided to focus on grooming your little brother. Why don’t you tell me about his performance at school?”

Xu Shaochen spoke with a serious tone, subtly moving closer to Zhao Qingyu, holding her soft hand, testing the limits of her patience.

Zhao Qingyu, still caught up in her excitement, eagerly started speaking, “Let me tell you, Xiaofeng is… Get lost, you jerk! Let go of me.”

She hadn’t finished her sentence when her entire face turned red. She quickly pulled her hand away, feeling both startled and furious.

This little rascal, how dare he do that! This is the Sports Field; if someone sees us, there will be trouble.

Then again, it’s not acceptable outside the Sports Field either.
