Chapter 220: Ridiculous Traffic Jam
by xennovelXu Shaochen left Dafeng Factory.
However, soon after, news spread within the factory that Li Cheng, Zhou Wei, and Ye Tao were all fired.
With three management positions suddenly vacant, the factory entered an assessment period to selectively promote employees to fill the gaps.
In no time, those eligible to compete for the management roles worked as if they were on steroids, giving their utmost effort.
Of course, this was also Xu Shaochen, the wicked capitalist’s, idea. He called it increasing workers’ motivation.
Suddenly, the car came to a stop.
“What’s going on?”
Xu Shaochen asked as he looked ahead through the windshield and saw a large crowd of people gathering.
“Boss, I’ll go check it out.”
Long Er, who was sitting in the passenger seat, got out and returned after a minute. “Boss, it’s a celebrity from Stick Nation named Jin Cunyue. He’s signing autographs for his fans, which is causing the traffic jam.”
“Autographs?” Xu Shaochen frowned as an unreasonable rage started burning in his chest when he saw the street clogged with cars.
So all these cars are stuck here just because of that damn Stick Nation celebrity? Do we have to wait until he’s done until we can move?
What’s worse, he noticed an ambulance stuck in the crowd. A few people got out and tried to negotiate but seemed to be shoved around by the fans.
Xu Shaochen opened the car door and walked towards the ambulance, with Long Yi and Long Er following closely behind.
“Please, make way. Don’t block the road. Mr. Jin Cunyue, could you leave first? The car is carrying a crash victim who’s a firefighter and has helped save lives in four fires. We’re rushing him to the Hospital. I hope you can understand…”
A doctor in a white lab coat shouted at Jin Cunyue, his forehead covered with sweat as he visibly panicked.
After all, the ambulance was running low on oxygen. If they couldn’t get to the Hospital soon, the patient might die.
“What do we care if he’s being rescued? All we want is Chunye oppa.”
“Exactly. Chunye oppa rarely comes to Longguo. It’s an honor for us. We want autographs! We want photos!”
“Oppa, I love you! I want to bear your children!”
Before the doctor could finish, a group of mindless fans interrupted him. Each one acted like Jin Cunyue was their father, completely disregarding the life at stake.
Witnessing this, Jin Cunyue smirked with satisfaction and shrugged helplessly at the doctor in broken Mandarin. “Sorry, you see, it’s not that I don’t want to move, but my fans are just too enthusiastic. My popularity in Longguo is just too high.”
He reveled in the applause, which gave him a sense of accomplishment. To him, the patient in the ambulance was just another lowly Longguo citizen. Whether he lived or died had nothing to do with him. Whenever he ran out of money, he’d come to Longguo to cash in and then go back home. He had made many idiotic remarks on various platforms, but as long as he had his fans’ support, he could be as reckless as he liked.
“You… you’re killing someone!”
The doctor in the white lab coat was livid, his face growing red with anger. The patient in the ambulance was a hero, yet was he really going to die so unjustly today?
All because of a Stick Nation celebrity and a group of brainless fans wasting valuable rescue time?
“What does that have to do with us? It’s not like we caused the accident!”
Amidst the crowd, an unknown fan shouted, inciting others to echo the sentiment.
The surrounding drivers, blocked and stuck in traffic, were all livid upon seeing this scene, but held back from acting out.
“Such stupid Longguo people,” Jin Cunyue muttered softly in his native language to his assistant.
The assistant smiled slightly. “Chunye, it’s precisely because they’re stupid that we can make more money, isn’t it?”
“Hahaha, true enough.” Jin Cunyue laughed heartily, clearly pleased.
With Long Yi and Long Er clearing the way, Xu Shaochen moved through the crowd of fans and approached Jin Cunyue, his face dark and menacing.
“What are you doing…” One of Jin Cunyue’s bodyguards, clearly a Longguo native, immediately stepped forward to stop Xu Shaochen.
Xu Shaochen, burning with rage, kicked him directly.
“Ah!”
The leading bodyguard cried out as he was sent stumbling back several steps by the powerful kick.
“Sir, are you my fan? You’re acting very excited. Do you want a signature or a photo?”
Jin Cunyue smiled brightly at Xu Shaochen, preparing to sign with his pen.
He hadn’t expected that he’d even have male fans. Tch, tch, are the men in Longguo just as dumb as the women?
“Slap!”
Xu Shaochen slapped him across the face. “Take your people and get out of here immediately. If the patient in the ambulance dies, I will ensure you can’t even board a flight out of Jiangzhou.”
Initially, he was simply irritated by this Stick Nation celebrity causing the traffic jam, but after hearing what the doctor in the white lab coat said, he wasn’t just irritated anymore; he was furious.
Feeling the stinging pain on his cheek, Jin Cunyue was utterly dazed. “You… you dare hit me?”
He couldn’t believe that someone in Longguo dared hit him. After all, he was a celebrity with millions of fans.
The surrounding fans took a moment to process what had happened but then exploded in anger.
“How dare he hit Chunye oppa! This is unforgivable! We’ll dox him!”
“Yeah, he’s clearly just jealous of how handsome Chunye oppa is.”
“Pah! He should just die…”
All the fans were seething, cursing Xu Shaochen as if he had slapped their real father.
Oh wait, correction: they probably wouldn’t be this upset even if Xu Shaochen had slapped their real father.
“I’ll say it again: take your people and get out!” Xu Shaochen repeated word by word. For every minute the traffic remained blocked, the patient in the ambulance became more endangered.
Right now, he only wanted to clear the traffic jam, not to make trouble for this Stick Nation celebrity. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have ended with just a slap.
“Damn you, you lowborn scum!” Jin Cunyue cursed in shame and anger, then roared at his bodyguards, “What are you standing around for? Teach him a lesson! Beat him, and make it hurt!”
Upon hearing his command, the seven or eight bodyguards immediately surrounded Xu Shaochen, brandishing batons, ready to strike at any moment.
“I’ve never seen anyone stoop so low as to be a dog for the Stick Nation. You must be so proud! I wonder how your parents would react if they knew. Perhaps they’d rise from their graves, lifting their coffin lids in fury.”
Xu Shaochen swept his gaze over the bodyguards, his eyes filled with obvious contempt, and mockingly said, “What a disgrace.”
