Chapter 222: Mei Liangxin, Second Young Master of the Mei Family
by xennovelIn the car.
Xu Shaochen made several phone calls in quick succession.
He’s a man of his word. He told Jin Cunyue to stay put in Jiangzhou, and he intends to make sure it happens.
Otherwise, leaving Longguo with a reputation for being untrustworthy would be a huge mistake, wouldn’t it?” “Boss, where to?”
Seeing Xu Shaochen hang up his last call, Long Er, who was driving, finally asked.
“To the company,” Xu Shaochen said indifferently.
It’s already this late, so there’s no point in going to school. Going to the company directly makes more sense.
………
Dafeng Factory.
Mei Liangxin’s office.
At this moment, Mei Liangxin was sitting on the sofa with a dark expression, a stark contrast to his usual relaxed and carefree demeanor.
In front of him stood a middle-aged man in a suit and Gold-rimmed Glasses, who was acting very respectfully.
The office was eerily silent, with only the sound of the air conditioner running.
“My assistant just told me someone wanted to see me, but never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be you.”
After a long silence, Mei Liangxin lifted his head and broke the eerie quiet. His tone had a hint of sarcasm.
“Young Master, come back home with me. Your father and mother are still waiting for you. Once you return, you can take up the position of vice chairman at the company.”
The middle-aged man with the Gold-rimmed Glasses addressed Mei Liangxin respectfully, but his tone carried a hint of toughness that didn’t match his respectful demeanor.
“Heh.” Mei Liangxin let out a sneering laugh, smirking as he spread his hands dismissively. “Vice chairman? That’s quite the offer. But sorry, I’m not interested. Can you leave now? Otherwise, I’ll make a call to my boss, and then you’ll most likely not make it out of Jiangzhou alive.”
He knew exactly why they were so eager to drag him back, even going so far as to dangle the vice chairmanship in front of him.
But if he were to go back, he’d be like meat on the chopping block, completely at their mercy. Not only would he lose his freedom, but even his life wouldn’t be under his control.
So unless he was out of his mind, there was no way he’d go back.
“Young Master, is this boss you speak of really just the owner of this broken factory? As the second master of the Mei family, your vision shouldn’t be this narrow. I may not know where your confidence in him comes from, but I believe that money can solve anything. Give him enough money, and I bet I can make him fire you.”
With a self-assured smile, the middle-aged man adjusted his glasses and looked at Mei Liangxin. He couldn’t have been more confident.
The Second Young Master of the Mei family truly is hopeless. Using the owner of some rundown factory to threaten me? That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard all year.
Mei Liangxin was silent for a moment before breaking into a big smile. He looked genuinely amused. “Funny, my boss thinks the same. He often says there’s nothing money can’t buy in this world.”
By now, both he and Zhao Qing had learned of Xu Shaochen’s true identity from Zhang Wei.
After all, with the title of Second Young Master of the Mei Family, he naturally understood better than Zhang Wei and Zhao Qing what the name ‘Xu Shaochen’ represented, and what behemoth Xu Corporation stood for.
But now, this fool in front of him actually thought he could buy off Xu Shaochen with money. This was like showing off a broadsword before Guan Yu. He was simply asking for humiliation.
Mei Liangxin was practically itching to see how this guy managed to dig his own grave.
“Is that so? It seems your boss is quite insightful, but with just this broken factory, he’s not qualified,” the middle-aged man with the Gold-rimmed Glasses scoffed. He didn’t take Mei Liangxin’s so-called boss seriously in the slightest.
The Second Young Master of the Mei Family was getting worse by the day. Despite being born into the Mei Family and having seen the world, he was now praising the owner of some rundown factory. This was a disgrace to the entire Mei Family.
Mei Liangxin waved his hand dismissively: “Alright, stop spouting nonsense and get out. First, go deal with the boss, then come back and talk to me.”
In other words: Go ahead and dig your own grave. If you’re still alive afterward, then come talk to me.
“Hmph! Very well then, Second Young Master, you just wait.”
With a cold snort and a final glare at Mei Liangxin, the middle-aged man turned and walked out of the office.
He planned to meet with Mei Liangxin’s boss, just to show Mei Liangxin that in front of the Mei Family, this boss he so admired was nothing more than an ant.
Watching the man’s confident back as he left, Mei Liangxin sneered and then a glint of cold flashed in his eyes as he muttered to himself:
“Big Brother, oh Big Brother, though we were born of the same mother, you’ve always been like the moon in the sky while I’ve been nothing more than an ant in the dirt. The entire Mei Family bends over backward for you. To save you, they’d have me sacrifice everything. Hmph, what a joke. This is your Mei Family, not my Mei Liangxin’s Mei Family!”
If Xu Shaochen were here, he’d certainly wonder if this was truly Mei Liangxin or if someone had taken over his body.
After all, how could the typically silly Mei Liangxin suddenly emit such an overbearing and sinister aura?
………
Meanwhile.
Jin Cunyue was sitting in his car with a gloomy expression.
They had just been stopped at the highway toll station by the police, who gave them a slew of reasons they couldn’t understand, effectively preventing them from getting on the highway.
As for why they didn’t just fly, well, they couldn’t even get plane tickets. Though there were clearly tickets available online, the moment they approached the counter and showed their passports, the staff claimed the tickets were sold out.
“Cunyu… none of the boats are willing to take us.” After hanging up the phone, Jin Cunyue’s assistant looked at him with a bitter smile.
They had tried every option—land, sea, and air—but no matter what, they couldn’t leave Jiangzhou. Unless they wanted to climb over mountains or take some crumbling backroads, they were stuck.
But a bunch of clueless Koreans had no idea that Longguo had such things as backroads.
“Bang!”
Jin Cunyue angrily slammed his fist against the seat, his eyes bloodshot as he grit his teeth and said, “Is there nothing else we can do?”
“Cunyu, I think we should swallow our pride and go apologize to that Longguo man. We might have offended someone really powerful. If this continues, we’ll be missing out on a lot of engagements, and our partners will hold us accountable for breaching contracts.”
The assistant spoke cautiously. Despite seeing Jin Cunyue’s worsening expression, he had no choice but to keep pressing.
Though the others remained silent, it was clear they agreed with the assistant.
No one had expected to kick a steel plate. The person they provoked was far beyond the reach of their little entertainment team.
With power like this, it wouldn’t be surprising if the other party took drastic measures, making them disappear without a trace.
“Damn it!”
Jin Cunyue cursed loudly. Though unwilling, he could only grit his teeth and relent: “Find someone who can get us his address. We’ll take gifts and pay him a visit tonight.”
Half an hour ago, he had laughed off Xu Shaochen’s threats. Now, he deeply regretted it.
As a Korean, he had a better understanding of what it meant to offend someone with money and power.
So no matter what, he had to bow his head and apologize tonight.
