Chapter Index

“You’re Xu Shaochen, Mr. Xu, right?”

The middle-aged man with Gold-rimmed Glasses looked at Xu Shaochen and smiled slightly. His tone was gentle, but there was an undercurrent of arrogance.

    “And who are you?”

Xu Shaochen frowned as he asked. He could be sure that this person was not in his memory.

“I am Liao Jie. I have something to discuss with you. Is this how you treat your guests, leaving them standing at the door?”

Liao Jie said, a faint trace of disdain flashing in his eyes. A nouveau riche is still a nouveau riche, with no sense of decorum.

Xu Shaochen smiled, looking down at Liao Jie from his greater height: “If you keep talking to me in that sarcastic tone, I don’t care who you are, you can just get lost.”

Liao Jie’s superiority complex and overbearing attitude thoroughly disgusted Xu Shaochen.

“How dare you…” Liao Jie’s face changed, and he immediately shouted.

    “Bang!”

Just as he said two words, Xu Shaochen unceremoniously slammed the door shut.

Caught off guard and standing too close, his glasses were hit by the door, shattering one lens. His face turned extremely grim, and his heart was boiling with anger.

What a humiliation! This is utterly humiliating! Wherever he went in Songshan City, people treated him like an honored guest. He was also a significant figure.

But now, an upstart who just opened a shabby factory dares to treat him like this? Unbelievable!

But in the end, he swallowed his anger and knocked on the door again, shouting: “I need to talk to you about Mei Liangxin!”

    “Click—”

    Soon, the door opened again.

    “I’ll give you three minutes.”

Xu Shaochen looked at him briefly, then turned and walked into the living room, sitting on the sofa to watch TV.

“Fire Mei Liangxin, and I’ll give you ten million. I’m sure it will greatly benefit your factory’s growth.”

Liao Jie said as he followed Xu Shaochen into the living room.

However, Xu Shaochen did not respond. Seeing this, Liao Jie continued, “Mei Liangxin is the second young master of the Mei family. With his identity, he shouldn’t be working in such a lowly place. It’s a disgrace to him and our family.”

“Second young master of the Mei family?” For the first time, Xu Shaochen showed a hint of interest. That stingy fool Mei Liangxin is actually a young master?

A young master who frequents places like brothels, has no money for food, and is in debt for thirty years?

Seeing Xu Shaochen’s expression, Liao Jie smiled smugly and said in a rather haughty tone, “Yes, he’s the second young master of the Mei family. If you’re a smart person, you should know what to do.”

“Three minutes are up. You can leave now.” Xu Shaochen looked up at Liao Jie and said calmly.

He didn’t know why Mei Liangxin was pulling this run-away-from-home-to-be-poor stunt, but judging by this guy’s attitude, he knew Mei Liangxin definitely didn’t have a good relationship with his family.

He had no connection with the Mei family, but Mei Liangxin was his friend. Naturally, he was on Mei Liangxin’s side.

Besides, who did Liao Jie think he was? Acting so high and mighty? Just a dog raised by the Mei family. Does he think he can bark in front of Xu Shaochen?

Liao Jie’s smile froze as he stared at Xu Shaochen in disbelief: “What did you just say?”

“Are you deaf? I said you can leave.” Xu Shaochen kindly repeated himself, as if caring for the hearing impaired.

Liao Jie’s face turned so dark it could drip water. He gritted his teeth and said, “Don’t be ungrateful. The Mei family is not someone a factory owner like you can afford to offend. Be careful, or you won’t even know how you died.”

    “Bang!”

As soon as he finished speaking, a cup was flung at Liao Jie, shattering into pieces on his head. Glass Shards scattered everywhere.

    “Ahhhhh!”

Liao Jie instinctively covered his forehead and let out a scream. Bright red blood seeped through his fingers.

“You won’t know how you died? Do you believe I can make you experience the sensation of falling from the thirtieth floor right now?”

Xu Shaochen grabbed Liao Jie by the hair, yanked him close, and said in a low, menacing voice.

“You wouldn’t dare! I’m a member of the Mei family!” Liao Jie roared, his eyes full of venom, but deep inside, there was a flicker of fear.

He hadn’t expected Xu Shaochen to be so bold. Even after revealing his identity, Xu Shaochen still dared to get physical and even threaten him.

    “Slap!”

Before he could finish speaking, Xu Shaochen delivered a backhanded slap to his face: “Even if you’re the King of Heaven, in front of me, you can only kneel. You’re only worthy of kneeling.”

Liao Jie glared at Xu Shaochen, seething with anger, but he didn’t dare speak out of turn again.

He could now see that Xu Shaochen was reckless, utterly wild.& Jessie\

He found it unimaginable that someone who just operated a hotpot seasoning factory could have the audacity to be so arrogant. Who gave him such courage?

“Get out!” Xu Shaochen said coldly, loosening his grip on Liao Jie.

Liao Jie gave Xu Shaochen a deep look before turning and leaving in disgrace. His tightly clenched fists dug deep into his palms.

    “Close the door behind you.”

    Xu Shaochen said lightly.

Liao Jie’s face twisted with rage, but as he walked out of the living room, he still closed the door, and he did it gently.

No choice, cowardice is a trait. I’ll just admit it this once.

Xu Shaochen plopped down onto the sofa, pulled out his phone, and dialed Mei Liangxin’s number: “Care to explain, Second Young Master Mei?”

    “Where’s Liao Jie?”

“He just left. Now tell me about your family’s bloody drama!” Xu Shaochen said.

“It’s not all that dramatic, just a bit twisted. Look, I’m well-educated and talented, but in the Mei family, neither my dad nor my mom loves me. I’m like an invisible person, while my brother is adored by everyone. From birth, he was destined to inherit everything. I’ve always suspected I’m the child of the guy next door.”

“It wasn’t until my brother needed a liver transplant that my family finally remembered me. That’s when I realized the guy next door wasn’t my real father. Now tell me, if I go back with them, wouldn’t that mean I’m insane?”

Mei Liangxin’s tone was light, but Xu Shaochen could hear the deep resentment he held toward the Mei family.

It’s understandable. They were born from the same parents, yet treated so differently. And now, they want him to sacrifice his liver for his brother? Isn’t that the same as taking his life? This incident must have completely shattered Mei Liangxin’s heart, and it’s the reason he left the Mei family.

Who could’ve known that the usually carefree, jokey Mei Liangxin was harboring so much pain?

“Brother, stay strong.” Xu Shaochen comforted.

“I’m pretty strong. Last night, I went four rounds and used eight condoms.”

    Xu Shaochen: “…”
